After the competition ended, Mo Fan patiently awaited the rewards, which were public resources rather than the school's core ones. Still, given the massive quantity, it was definitely exciting! The remaining six people in the Summoning Department now treated Mo Fan like a deity. They were smart enough to only take the portion originally meant for them, leaving the rest for Mo Fan.
They knew better than to demand a share of what he had won—doing so would be suicidal.
First, his dorm now only had three occupants. The two roommates who didn't interact much with Mo Fan had applied to transfer out, fearing they might be caught up in the conflicts Mo Fan stirred up. Now it was just Mo Fan, Zhang Pinggu, and Zhao Manyan.
Zhang Pinggu practically worshiped Mo Fan, almost becoming his personal follower. Zhao Manyan, on the other hand, was more level-headed, behaving as usual.
As for Mo Fan, he too remained the same.
Time passed quickly, and over a month had gone by. The buzz surrounding the competition eventually faded, replaced by other news. Sometimes, before bed, Mo Fan would hear Zhang Pinggu chattering about how a few strong individuals had appeared, including one latecomer who seemed like a potential rival for Mo Fan.
However, Mo Fan didn't take any of this to heart.
Another significant event was that the Mu family had donated a large amount of resources, making Mu Nujiao a goddess-like figure in the Qing campus.
But Mo Fan was too focused on his training to care about any of this.
Eventually, Principal Xiao brought some good news: the rewards had arrived. From Principal Xiao, Mo Fan received Blood Beast Boots, a chance to train at the Three-Step Tower, a huge sum of five million yuan, and some resources suited for his Flame Howling Wolf.
After receiving these rewards, Mo Fan immediately headed to the Blue Sky Hunter Agency. Being a hunter was a significant part of his life, so naturally, it caught his attention right away.
He was curious to see how Lingling, now that he had become a Master Hunter, would react.
Passing Jing'an Temple and walking down a beautiful, tree-lined avenue, Mo Fan eventually arrived at an old street with a charming, vintage vibe. At the end of the street, a signboard creaked in the breeze, swaying gently.
It read: Clear Sky Hunter Agency.
Outside the shop, a little girl with long pigtails sat on a bench, swinging her legs as she read a picture book. Mo Fan glanced inside the cozy tea and coffee shop and saw that it was neat and empty.
"Are you here for a commission? The starting price is 300,000 yuan, and we'll adjust based on the difficulty. We don't take cheap cases." the little girl said, without even lifting her head.
Her voice was as clear and sweet as a summer bell, but her tone was cold and businesslike, with no room for negotiation.
"I'm here to apply for a job." Mo Fan replied directly.
"Oh, you want to be a monster hunter at our agency?" The little girl finally put down her book and raised her delicate face. Her big, intelligent eyes blinked at Mo Fan, before a look of doubt crossed her face. "You're so young. Can you really handle it?"
"Little girl, look at this." Mo Fan showed her his Hunter's certification.
Lingling was momentarily stunned but quickly recovered, then whispered mischievously, "We've got a fat sheep here, Grandpa Bao."
Mo Fan: "..."
He was a Master Hunter now, so what was with her attitude?
Old Bao, the owner, glanced at Mo Fan with mild surprise and said, "Welcome aboard. Since you've joined, you and your partner will handle your first assignment together."
"Got it." Mo Fan replied, extending his hand to the girl. "Nice to work with you, little girl. Hope we can get along."
"Aren't you even a bit doubtful?" Lingling asked, surprised.
Many of the naïve applicants questioned her ability, but not Mo Fan.
"If you didn't have something special, Old Bao wouldn't let you handle such tasks." Mo Fan said with a smile.
"Not bad, you've earned my initial approval." Lingling responded, clearly impressed.
Later that evening, at their designated meeting place, Lingling was waiting for Mo Fan, hands on her hips, looking a little annoyed.
"What took you so long?" she demanded.
"It's not even dark yet. So, what did you find?" Mo Fan asked, ignoring her complaint.
"Take a look." Lingling handed Mo Fan a small notebook computer, showing him the surveillance footage.
"We'll head to the roof. If something happens, we can act immediately." she said seriously.
"Got it." Mo Fan nodded as they went up to the roof. He considered letting the Scaled Skin Demoness escape. He needed the Demon's Spirit and Lightning Essence, and letting it go might ensure that. But doing so could put the freshmen in danger.
In the end, Mo Fan decided to let the demoness go, planning to kill her before her next move in the stadium.
Soon, the surveillance revealed the demoness shedding her skin and causing havoc. Mo Fan dealt with the transformed male demon quickly.
"Not bad. You're quite impressive." Lingling praised.
On the roof, Lingling inspected the charred remains of the male demon while keeping in touch with Mo Fan.
"I got a little careless and let one escape. We should send this man to the hospital." Mo Fan said.
"Alright."
After getting the man to the hospital, Lingling continued investigating the Scaled Skin Demons, while Mo Fan spent his time training.
There wasn't much else he could do but wait for the demoness to make her move.
Finally, after a week, Lingling returned to the school with new findings.
"Lingling, have you figured it out?" Mo Fan asked.
"See for yourself."
Lingling pulled out her tablet and placed it in front of Mo Fan.
"This isn't just any ordinary electronic map. Once I input the demoness's blood data, this map will immediately show her location, no matter where she's hiding—in a random street or the maze-like sewers of Magic City. We'll track her down!" Lingling said, beaming with pride like a little girl showing off a new dress.
"Impressive. Really impressive."
