Chereads / Versatile Mage : Reborn As Mo Fan / Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Annual Assessment

Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : Annual Assessment

Mo Fan was on a bus heading toward Mingwen Middle School.

Mingwen Middle School was a private all-girls school, famous for hosting the freshest and most fashionable girls in all of Xia City.

Unlike other schools, Mingwen wasn't focused on lifeless magic theory education, nor did it house a bunch of magic bookworms obsessed with exams. The girls here, most of whom came from families with magic backgrounds, knew much more than the typical students who came out of the compulsory nine-year magic education system. For example, they often wore magical accessories that carried real magical power.

Xin Xia was only able to attend this school because of her clever mind. Mo Fan quietly waited for her on a path she often took.

Before long ,before a young girl in a wheelchair appeared in his view.

The girl in the wheelchair had long, flowing black hair that danced in the winter wind, revealing a beautiful and delicate profile—fair skin, long lashes, a petite nose, and rosy, plump lips.

When she saw Mo Fan, there was no surprise on her face. Instead, she greeted him with a gentle smile, as if she had known he would be there.

"Brother Mo Fan." the girl greeted sweetly.

"Xin Xia, how have you been?" Mo Fan asked.

"I'm doing well, but you don't always have to come pick me up, you know." Xin Xia replied.

This little girl—clearly happy to see him but pretending otherwise. Women!

"I missed you, so I came." Mo Fan responded.

Hearing his words, Xin Xia's face turned a bit red. Perhaps to her, Mo Fan was just like an older brother, though there were hints of fondness.

Mo Fan didn't mind. Their relationship had a foundation, and deepening it wouldn't be too difficult.

He got behind Xin Xia and began to push her wheelchair, heading back to their aunt's house.

"Brother Mo Fan, why did you suddenly decide to start studying magic again?" Xin Xia asked, slightly confused. Mo Fan had previously declared that he didn't want to study magic, but now he seemed eager to learn.

He used to think that studying was useless. Even now, he didn't believe that reading a few books could change one's destiny. But studying magic—that was a different story.

"I want to protect you. If I remain just an ordinary person, I'll only grow further apart from you." Mo Fan replied.

"Brother Mo Fan..." Xin Xia shyly responded. Was he flirting with her so openly today?

Mo Fan didn't push things too far, and soon, they began chatting about school as they made their way back to their aunt's place.

After having dinner with his aunt and Xin Xia, Mo Fan returned to his routine of cultivating his magic. It seemed like his life now was either spent training or heading toward training.

Mo Fan didn't take a break during the winter vacation. After spending a few days at his aunt's house, he returned to Tianlan Magic High School's library. Xin Xia was taken care of by their aunt, so he couldn't stay there forever.

With daily study and training, time flew by. And before he knew it, the new semester had started.

On the first day back in class, Mo Fan noticed something unusual about his classmate, Zhang Xiaohou . Mo Fan followed Zhang Xiaohou gaze, and then he too became uneasy.

"Good morning, students. Your magic practice teacher, Mr. Lian, is resting at home due to illness and is currently on a sick leave. From today onwards, I will be teaching your practical magic lessons. My name is Tang Yue." a mature yet cheerful voice suddenly spoke.

The class was used to the hoarse, slow voice of Teacher Lian. Now, a seductive and charming woman's voice filled the room, like a spring breeze, causing Mo Fan to feel a sudden surge of 'respect.'

Teacher Tang Yue had arrived.

This enchanting and mature teacher, someone who would play an important role as a protector in the earlier stages of his magic journey.

"You've all only awakened for about six months, so none of you can cast magic yet. However, I want you to understand that wielding great power doesn't mean you'll be able to use it well. Without proper control, your power could even backfire on you." Tang Yue warned, though her attire today was somewhat special, making it hard for the students to focus on the lesson.

Despite her serious tone, the girls looked on enviously, while the boys couldn't tear their eyes away from her. It was difficult for them to focus.

However, when Tang Yue brought them out to the field and demonstrated a level two fire spell, the students finally got serious.

If a woman is only beautiful, she'll merely inspire daydreams. But if that woman holds unreachable power and authority, she becomes like a dangerous drug, impossible for men to resist!

At that moment, Tang Yue wasn't just a teacher. She became the goddess of the entire class.

Although having such a goddess-like teacher made classes less dull, Mo Fan's life continued training just as before.

Time flew by, and soon, it was time for the annual assessment. For many students, it was a nightmare. They could be expelled if they failed. Such students would be too ashamed to face their parents.

Magic education wasn't child's play. Every magic high school had a strict system like this: those who weren't fit to study magic were quickly dismissed to find another path in life. The schools wouldn't let them waste time chasing unreachable dreams in the vast world of magic.

But for the students who had trained diligently, today was their chance to prove themselves, especially the top students who had already mastered basic spells!

*The Assessment Day*

The typhoon had passed, and the morning was clear, with cool, refreshing summer air.

Mo Fan wasn't worried about the assessment. After all, he had successfully mastered the star trails for both the fire and lightning elements. Both had grown significantly stronger. Unfortunately, the little loach he carried with him was still only as effective as a low-tier Stardust magic tool. Otherwise, Mo Fan might have been able to progress even further.

Early in the morning, the students gathered on the field for the assessment.

The exam wasn't about filling out papers in a classroom. Magic theory was tested but didn't count for much. The most important part was the practical assessment. In the world of magic, strength was everything. This assessment was essentially a test of how far the students had come in their magic training, and it would determine the classes they would be placed in.

The training field was set up differently today. Besides the usual semicircular examiners' table, there was also a floating star-sensing stone.

The Star Sense Stone looked like a large black pebble, about the size of a watermelon, currently resting on a pedestal at the front of the training ground.

The test was simple—much like the awakening ceremony. Students would place their hands on the star-sensing stone, and the examiners would gauge their progress based on the stone's brightness.

Much like a high school entrance exam, a student's future could be determined in a single moment. In this world, there were strict standards: either continue studying and get better opportunities, or pack up and leave.

Once everyone had gathered, Mu He, one of the school directors, began his speech.

Honestly, his humble appearance made it hard to believe he was a high-ranking deacon in the Black Vatican!

In the original world, Mu He played a significant role in helping Mo Fan and Mu Ningxue get together.
