Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Yeon Yin-Shin… who never sacrifice…

The deafening storm raged on, raindrops fell like bullets, assaulting the man in their millions, like he was being pricked by thousands of tiny pins. Water filled the man's vision, a flood of terror making it impossible to make out details.

He rounded a corner into a side street, sprinting as fast as he could to escape the danger. He dared not look back, keeping his eyes ahead, fixed on the only path out. He knew what would happen if he didn't keep running...

The man's breath caught in his throat, and his eyes widened as the shot rang out - before he even registered the pain in his leg and fell to the floor, unable to stand up. He tried to pull himself along the muddy floor with his arms, and cried out desperately for help that he knew would never come...

"Please, don't kill me!" *The man begged. "I'll do anything!" He cried, as if he had any right to bargain...But His pleas only made the attackers laugh.

"Don't just stand there, shoot him." One yelled above the noise of the storm, barely noticeable. Another aimed his weapon towards the defenseless man.

Suddenly, the man's entire life flashed before his eyes. He began to cry, begging for his life again and again, knowing that it was too late this time...

With a wicked grin, the attacker placed his foot down on the man's shot leg, his foot splashing red with the pooling blood. The victim cried out in pain, reaching out in a feeble attempt to stop him, but he did not let up.

"Please! Don't do this! Anyone, please!" He yelled, begging for the mercy of anyone. With no one else around to hear his cries however, it was pointless to even try. As the shooter aimed at the helpless man, he continued his fruitless begging, "Please!"

"Your pathetic pleas for life won't work, no one's here to save you." One of the attackers said, sadistically crushing his leg, as the other attacker watched with a wide sadistic grin. The man screamed in pain, his mind racing as he desperately searched for an escape. He knew that this time it was truly too late...

"After all It was you who sacrificed everything with no remorse.'' Attacker said as he stepped on his head crushing him down to wet muddy floor, as the other attacker laughed like a maniac.

Desperately, the man cried out for mercy, his tears mixing with the blood that poured from his wound. "Please," he begged, "Don't kill me, please don't. Don't kill me."

"Oh, now you want mercy?" His attacker replied, amused at the thought of the man's weakness.

The man cried, his body shaking on the rain soaked concrete, his hands grasping at his bleeding wound. He was powerless and pathetic, and they both knew it.

The man's suffering could almost be compared to the thunder in the sky. He lay in a pool of his blood, still begging for his life even after his attackers began moving towards him.

"You had every chance to get out, but you chose to sacrifice everything for your own greed, and now you pay the price!" Other attacker said as he grins widely moving closer to the dying man.

"Ku Su-min a high schooler in Jaeguk high in Busan…. You were going to Graduate soon Yet you really sacrifice everything for this? I thought there was honour among sinners, but here you lie, a coward to the very end." One of the attackers spoke. He reached out to touch Ku Su-min, but stopped himself as he felt nothing but pity for the broken man.

A bolt of lightning shot through the sky, followed by a loud rumbling.

"There is no paradise for you, not anymore." The other attacker stepped toward Ku Su-min, ready to finally put him out of his misery...

The man knew that his family would never forgive him for the sins that he had committed. He had sacrificed them without a second thought in order to save himself, which did not end up working out in the end. He felt their resentment from beyond the grave, angry and disappointed.

He would not have to face their judgement in this life, but there would be a special kind of hell to pay when he next saw them in paradise. His parents would never forgive him for this...

"He'll see them again soon," The attacker said as he turned away, "He's dying anyway..."

"Please! I don't want to die!" Ku Su-min cried, his voice becoming hoarse with desperation. The two attackers were unsure what to do, not willing to be the one to finally pull the trigger.

The voice in their ear spoke again, sending a shiver down their spines. Without hesitation, the two men pointed their guns at him again.

In a darkened room, the silhouette of a man was sat at a table, his fingers on a chess piece. Everything else in the room was nothing but shadows, not even the windows providing any light.

With a single shot, Ku Su-min fate was sealed. He screamed and cried for his life, but it was too late...

Just like that, the game was over, a life ended just like that...

Somewhere in the dark room, a voice could be heard, an eerie echo of satisfaction...

"Checkmate," he said, a chilling smirk spreading across his face as the game was brought to fruition one more, a death being carried out on another screen.

It was the game of death. A game that was played out on every screen in the room, and in real life too. Each death seemed so insignificant, just another meaningless number on a scoreboard, all played for entertainment.

This whole world was a game, and he was the one controlling it all. No matter how many people died, it would never stop. The games, the killing, it would all continue.

And soon another player died, another sacrifice paid to the God of Carnage, the master of death.

The two attackers stood silently, the sound of the rain now their only companion as they left the scene of the crime. For them, it was just another night on the job...

Water dripped from the attacker's hair as the rain continued to pound down. He didn't seem to care about the blood on his clothes, the scene of the crime only a vague memory now.

"Let's just go, we've already done our job here." He said, grabbing the other attacker.

"Can't we stay a bit longer? Enjoy the results of our work?" The attacker responded with a wicked grin.

"No, we have other games to play. Come on!" They disappeared into the black as the rain beat down, leaving the victim to die alone...

"Oh you always take the fun part out of everything," the attacker said, still enjoying the sight of the man's body.

"You sicken me... I guess my boss was right when he said you were crazy. We have to go now." The other attacker said in annoyed tone.

"But it's such a nice sight... And after I put so much work into this, can't I just admire the outcome?"

"Let's go... or I will make sure you end up like this." The second attacker said in a threatening tone as the first attacker only laughed…''You are no fun Kim~"

As they left, the rain continued to beat down on the alley, the only sound heard the steady pounding of droplets on concrete. The victim died, with no one to hold his hand in his final moments. The attackers had won, the dark game of life and death had come to an end for the victim, but it would continue for them, as they moved on to their next victim and the next...

Kim Su-min remained, lying in a pool of his blood, a broken heap. This was another successful game, another man's life taken as part of their twisted game of death.

As the two attackers left the alley, a lone figure stood above in an overlooking building, watching their every move but doing nothing to stop them. The dark figure stood for a few moments, watching the events unfold with his dark orbs, and then walked away, the darkness covering their identity as he wore a dark hoodie and only his dark hairs could be identified.

A report later the next day reported a murder in an alleyway, detailing how the killers were still at large. The body that was found was identified, but there was no further details, with police searching for possible suspects. The world would continue to turn, while another life had perished at the hands of the game. And the game just continued...
