Chapter 1 - A new body

"You ant," A heavy and powerful voice traveled through the air, the feeling of anger it carried could be noticed by everyone. "A worthless pest like you dares to request teachings from the mighty me?!" The voice was coming from a man floating in the air, a whirlwind under his feet seemed to be keeping him afloat.

The man had green hair and white robes and was glaring at a young man who was groveling on the ground. "What a fool!" The man said while laughing, the crowd surrounding them followed suit and started laughing and mocking the young man.

The scene was taking place in the center of a city so many people gathered when they heard there was a commotion, and by now the young man was surrounded by hundreds of people mocking and laughing at him.

"You dare ask for a noble's teaching after committing atrocious crimes?!" Someone in the crowd said as he threw a tomato at the young man, the other spectators following suit. The noble could be seen grinning as he looked down on the young man.

"I did not commit any crimes! I have been framed!" The black-haired young man grinned his teeth and retorted. "All I wanted was for him to show me some magic!" He tried to explain himself but no one listened.

At that moment the noble who was still floating in the air raised his hand and everyone went silent. "Since you want to see some magic so bad I'll show it to you!" He said with a grin on his face. He then started chanting something as the young man raised his head to look at the chanting noble with excitement.

He couldn't understand what the noble was chanting, his eyes filled with hope of seeing real magic. "I've always wanted to see magic above tier 3, but due to my lack of talent, I haven't been able to get past 1 mana circle. I spent all my life researching magic, I wonder how far I could've gotten if I didn't have trash talent."

The young man's thoughts were interrupted as the noble spoke, "This is the magic you wanted to see so much. Now perish, scum!" The noble said as a lightning strike hit the young man.

"Aaah, this is so magnificent! If there is another life, I'd wish to be born with at least average talent." As these thoughts flashed through the young man's mind, his body fell to the ground and lost all signs of life.

...

"Huh? Where am I?" The young man thought to himself while looking at an unfamiliar ceiling. "So it's a boy." He heard someone speaking. "Yes." The soft voice of a woman passed through the young man's ears. "Let's name him Nigh." The woman said. "Fine by me" Agreed the other person.

"Nigh? Are they talking about me? This is so strange, I can't move my body and I feel so small. Did I perhaps get reincarnated?" Nigh quickly analyzed the information he had and put it together to come to a conclusion.

1 month later...

"I've figured out most of my situation," Nigh was analyzing what had happened up until this point. "I've been reincarnated into what seems to be a noble family, but what's more crazy is that the body I've been reincarnated into seems to have an insane aptitude for mana!" He thought to himself as he kept gathering mana with the mana-gathering technique he had learned in his past life.

"It's only been 1 month since I was born but I have already reached 1-st circle." At that moment a woman with silver hair entered the room and took Nigh into her arms.

"Nigh, it's time for breakfast." The woman said as she took Nigh to a dining room and started feeding him. "Hooh! I almost got caught" Nigh thought to himself. He was gathering mana in secret since he didn't want others to know of his monstrous talent yet.

Another reason for gathering mana in secret is that anyone would think a demon had possessed Nigh if they saw a baby gathering mana at the age of 1 month. The woman feeding him was wearing a white dress and had silver hair and eyes. Nigh also had those characteristics.

5 years later...

A young boy stood on top of a giant lake surrounded by trees. Warm wind blew the boy's silver hair as he started chanting something. After chanting for about 3 seconds, a grin formed on the young boy's face as a huge explosion appeared in the middle of the lake, pulverizing its center.

The young boy was Nigh, and he was experimenting on a spell. "This is the most powerful spell I have cast till now. I have to be careful when experimenting with new spells, I don't want to get caught." Nigh warned himself.

He was now a 4 circle mage and had power equal to the kingdom's powerhouses. Of course, no one knew of his talent or power, everyone thought he had yet to learn any magic just like all the other kids.

"I should probably return now, mom could get suspicious if she doesn't find me home." Nigh was the 8th child of a high-ranking noble family, however, he had yet to meet any of his siblings or his dad.

He quickly returned home and entered the library. "I've been able to find many magic books here since I'm in a family of mages, but now I've hit a wall with the mana-gathering technique from my past life so getting to 5 circles is impossible unless I find another mana-gathering technique.

The library was vast and had thousands of books. Nigh had read around half of them with the help of magic, but he hadn't found any mana-gathering techniques. He diligently read books every day, always trying to find new magic or techniques to improve his knowledge.

"Let's see, which books should I read today, how about this one." As soon as Nigh was about to grab a book he heard someone calling for him. it was his mother Leyla. Nigh left the library and went outside where he found Leyla.

"Yes, mother?" Nigh responded to her calls. "Nigh, you're already 5 years old. It is time for you to start learning magic. Until now we have been living in this hidden mansion so that you can be able to grow to the age of learning magic without interference." Leyla said.

"Now we will start living in the main house where all your other siblings are and where you will learn magic. You have to be careful because those people will do anything to get rid of competition in the succession race, even if you are a child."

According to what Leyla had told Nigh, she was the second wife of Duke Aros a high-ranking noble. She only had 2 children, Nigh included, While the other wives had 3 children each. Nigh had already guessed but the competition for head of the family was fierce.

"That's how nobles are I guess, I just need to focus on learning magic and improving, I don't care about any of that." Nigh couldn't care less.

After 1 day of riding a carriage, Nigh and his mother finally arrived at the main house. It was as big as a castle and had facilities for almost anything. As they entered inside the servants greeted them.

"Welcome back Miss Leyla," An old man dressed as a butler greeted them. "This must be Nigh, the 8th young master I presume. I'm Alfred, the head butler." He introduced himself while performing a slight bow.

"Hello Alfred, I'm Nigh." Nigh introduced himself. "It's good to see you again Alfred." Said Leyla with a smile on her face.

When one of the wives would give birth to a child, they would go to a mansion hidden somewhere far from the main house so that none of the successors could pull any stunts before the child was grown enough to take care of himself.

So since Nigh was already grown enough, Leyla could live in the main house again. "Young Master Nigh, I'll show you to your room, follow me," Alfred said as he went inside. Nigh of course followed him.

The mansion was huge, it had hundreds of rooms and facilities and large halls. After navigating through the mansion a bit and showing Nigh some key places of the mansion, Alfred stopped in front of a door.

"This is your room from now on Young Master Nigh, I hope it is to your liking," Alfred said as he opened the door. The room was way bigger than any room Nigh had ever seen and was very clean.

It was white and gold with a colorful carpet on the ground. There were 4 windows on the end of the room and 3 wardrobes on the left. On the right, there was a huge bed that could fit 6 people with no problem.

Nigh entered the room surprised at its huge size. "How do you feel about your new room Young Master Nigh? If you want any changes to be made you can just talk to one of the maids and I'll receive the request." Alfred said while standing outside the room.

"It is great, I don't think I need any changes, thank you," Nigh said while exploring the room. "Well then, I'll be taking my leave." Alfred bowed slightly and then left.

"This is great, with a room this big, I cannot help but wonder how big is the library!" Nigh was only focused on learning more magic and techniques, he didn't care about anything else. He then went to bed since it was pretty late.

"Tomorrow I'll explore all the books I can." Nigh thought to himself as he fell asleep.
