Chapter 7 - 2025 Golden Rooster Award

The event started at noon. The MC, a well-known celebrity, walked forward and greeted the audience with enthusiasm. "Hi everyone! Greetings to all our actors. Welcome to the 2025 Golden Rooster Award Show!"

"Where do you think she got that necklace?" an actress whispered to her companion.

"Don't you know her family?" the other actress replied, raising an eyebrow.

"I know," she said, rolling her eyes. "Then why are you asking me where she got her necklace?" The second actress hissed, turning back to the stage. The first actress gritted her teeth and did the same.

"The Actor of the Year is Fu Yize!" the MC announced. Fu Yize stood up, smiling as he walked to the stage. The audience clapped, though some did so reluctantly.

Yize accepted the award and hugged the MC before stepping up to the microphone. "To my incredible fans, your unwavering support and love mean the world to me. You inspire me to keep pushing boundaries and striving for excellence. This role was a dream come true and a significant milestone in my career. It challenged me in ways I never imagined and helped me grow as an artist. I promised myself I wouldn't cry, but here we are. If I forget anyone, please blame it on the excitement and not my memory!" He wiped his tears and smiled as his fans cheered.

The MC returned to the stage. "The Actress of the Year is Xu Yi Han!" Xu Yi Han stood up confidently, as if she already knew she would win. The reporters snapped photos as she walked to the stage to accept her award.

"Wow, this is truly an honor," she began. "I want to thank the Academy for this incredible recognition. I wouldn't be here without the unwavering support of my family and friends. To my parents, who always believed in me, and to my partner, who has been my rock through it all, thank you. This award is as much yours as it is mine. To the amazing cast and crew of Entrapped With Him, your talent and dedication made this possible. I remember the first day on set, feeling both excited and terrified. But it was the camaraderie and passion of everyone involved that made every moment unforgettable. To all the aspiring actors out there, never give up on your dreams. Hard work and perseverance do pay off. And let's continue to support each other and tell stories that matter. Thank you once again for this incredible honor. I am truly humbled and grateful. This is a moment I will cherish forever." She smiled and walked off the stage with her award.

The actress who had gossiped about her gritted her teeth and glared before looking away.

"Next, the Rookie of the Year goes to…"

In the Gou mansion, Xin Yi sat on her bed, about to go to sleep. She still wore her wig, along with a black nightdress and a pair of silk trousers and shirt. Hoayu was outside, chatting with the other bodyguards.

A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. "Come in," she said. An old lady, a cleaner, entered the room.

"Your attention is needed. The underboss called for you. He is waiting for you in his room," the old lady informed her before leaving.

'In his room!' Xin Yi panicked, her mouth falling open.

Xu Yi Han walked out, with fans cheering. She smiled and waved at her fans. The reporters came forward to ask questions, but were pushed away by the bodyguard and was successfully able to seat in the car, she whined down the glass and waved at her fans who had crowded the event.

The actress who gossiped about Xu Yi Han, Yi Nou walked out with no one outside just 3 old couples where cheering her. Reporters walked towards her and she was so happy. She looked at the camera with a big smile ready to answer any questions.

"Miss Yi Nou how does it feel not getting any jobs for the past 4 years," the reporter looked at her waiting for her response.

Yi Nou pinched one of her body guards and he pushed the reporters and walked her towards the car.

Yi Nou looked back and said,"am sorry" she smiled and faced front, leaving the reporters clueless of what happened.

She walked to Li Qiang's room, wearing an oversized hoodie over her pajamas. She knocked, and when there was no response, she opened the door. "I am coming in," she announced as she entered.

As soon as she closed the door, Li Qiang lunged at her, squeezing her neck and slamming her against the door. Xin Yi struggled to push his hands away, but he was much stronger. She could smell the liquor on his breath. 'Oh my, he's drunk,' she thought, her panic rising.

He squeezed her neck tighter. "You dare to question me about what I do," he snarled.

'So he is…' Xin Yi thought to herself.

"Please let me go, Mr. Gou," she said forcefully.

"What if I don't?" he retorted. Xin Yi pushed him away with all the strength she had, and he fell flat on the floor. She managed to push him because he was drunk.

Xin Yi jumped back, covering her mouth with her hands. She dragged Li Qiang to the bed, intending to check his temperature. Suddenly, he grabbed her hand, pulling her onto his chest.

Her eyes widened as she looked at him, and he stared back at her.

Li Qiang reached up to touch Xin Yi's hair, but she quickly pushed herself away.

"Uh, you have a fever. I'm going now," she said, hurrying out of the room. After closing the door, she held her cheek, which was now red, remembering what had happened. She ran down the stairs.

The next morning, Li Qiang woke up with a pounding headache. He groaned, holding his head as he stumbled out of bed and made his way to the bathroom. Staring at his reflection in the mirror, he remembered the previous night's events with Xin Yi. His eyes widened, and he stared blankly at his own reflection, a mix of regret and confusion washing over him.

A knock on the door broke his reverie. "Mr. Gou, you are called by the boss," a man announced from the other side.

Li Qiang quickly dressed and walked to his father's office, closing the door behind him. His father was already seated on the couch, waiting for him.

Li Qiang sat opposite his father, waiting for him to speak.

"Did you know about your new bodyguard?" his father asked, his tone serious.

"Yeah, I wouldn't appoint him if I didn't know," Li Qiang replied, trying to sound confident.

"Jang Xin Yi, right? Be careful," his father warned, his eyes narrowing.

Li Qiang frowned, standing up and walking out of the office without another word. His mind raced with questions and doubts.

A minute later, a buff man entered the office and approached the boss, standing at attention.

"I am appointing you to become Li Qiang's personal bodyguard. Take care of him and report to me about that girl, Xin Yi," the boss ordered, standing up to emphasize his point.

The buff man nodded. "Understood, sir."

"You can go," the boss dismissed him. As the man turned to leave, the boss added, "Jang Hao, your daughter will still be with you."

The man paused, a flicker of emotion crossing his face, before he nodded again and left the room.
