Arin smirked as he achieved his main objective though with some heavy injuries. He turned towards the handicapped Reus and shot out mana beams at him.
Jake quickly appeared on the path of the beams and blocked them.
Boom!
Arin clenched his teeth as he examined his wounds, the glaive dug very deep almost puncturing his left lung and tearing out some of his ribs. It was only his strong vitality that still kept him standing.
"That is some real damage." He thought as he coated the wounds with mana to stop the bleeding.
"This is my chance, he will try to defend his friend. I will use that as my advantage." Arin muttered looking over at Jake who was standing in front of Reus.
Arin quickly shot himself towards Jake and thrust his weapon as it made a sharp sound in the air.
Shiinng!
Jake quickly raised his axe and blocked the attack but the impact sent him backwards.
Clang!
They approached themselves and clashed fiercely. After exchange a few blows, Jake slowly fell into a defensive position as he have to fight Arin and also prevent him from trying to attack Reus.
They both stayed close to the ground as neither have the energy to go higher. Arin kicked the ground and appeared near Jake and slashed his sword.
Arin kicked the ground and appeared near Jake, he swung his sword in very wide arcs trying to hit Jake.
Jake quickly jumped back to avoid the attack but Arin zoomed the distance and thrust his sword sending a sharp winds at Jake.
Jake quickly stepsided and dodged the attack and threw a spell at Arin.
[Frosty wind slash]!
Swoosh!
The cold axe wave rapidly approached Arin. He quickly prepared himself and also attacked with a magical arts.
[Malevolent God curse]!
Boom!
The two attacks met. A ring-shaped shockwave spread out from the point of contact. Jake spell prove to be more powerful as the remaining energy hit Arin.
His body shot out far and hit the ground with a powerful force causing a miniature explosion.
Boom!
Ugh!
He spat out mouthful of blood as he felt an intense pain on his body.
"Shit, I can't afford to lose this battle, I have to protect my son." Arin murmured as he stood up with great effort.
Arin jumped forward while pointing his sword at Jake. The two figures clashed in mid-air. The shockwave shot out as their energies collided.
Boom!
Both of them flew out and crashed on the ground. Arin stood up and wiped the blood on his lips. Jake rushed towards Arin, he raised his axe and swung it down.
[Titan cleave]!
"Ha, weren't you just acting up and mighty just now, why can't you even throw an attack." Jake mocked.
Arin did not respond as he does not want to lose focus. He quickly moved out of the way of the attack. The mighty axe cleave went on and landed on the ground destroying many trees and disfiguring the landscape.
Arin smirked as he dodged the spell, he zoomed the distance, he coated his fists with mana and threw a heavy punch at Jake.
Jake jumped up and his remaining mana bursted it of his body. He held the two of his palms together and threw a punch.
Boom!
The two punches met and a destructive shockwave spread out. The two combatants looked at each other with maniacal expression.
"You know it has been a long time since I last fought like this." Jake said with a smile.
"Me too, you have more powerful than typical peak 5th tier warrior, but it is time we end this." Arin stated readying his weapon for a last offense.
"Yes, it's time we end this." Jake agreed as he rushed towards Arin with a much greater speed.
Arin flew towards Jake and they met in mid air, they both moved with their fastest speed and attacked each other with least energy and mana reserve.
They disengaged and watched each other. Jake threw his axe a Arin, it made a whooshing sound as it travelled faster than a missile.
Arin smirked as he dodged the axe, the moved forward and slashed with his sword sending sword waves at Jake. Jake quickly shifted to the side to dodge but he noticed something wrong with the sword waves.
The sword waves suddenly exploded sending smoke and dust into the air. Jake quickly coated his palm with mana and used it to wipe the smoke.
He wiped the smoke and saw Arin who was looking at him with grave expression.
"This is the end." He heard Arin mutter. He rushed forward as he felt great danger from what Arin was doing but it was too late.
Arin quickly used some magical arts to boost his attack power.
[Attack boost]! [strength boost]!
[Ares help]! [Armageddon canon]!
He shouted. 'Ares help' is a magical art that increased his firepower by 50% while 'Armageddon canon' is a powerful Magical art that amplified his attack by as much as 300%.
After this preparation, he then pronounced his last magical art.
[Malevolent God tribulation]!
It was the last magical art from 'Malevolent God' series.
The silhouette of a God appeared and fired a powerful lightning bolt at Jake.
Jake was horrified by the power of the art and quickly cast different defensive spells on himself.
[Nature's shield]!
[Ice wall]!...
Boom!
The lightning bolt met the shield and quickly disintegrated them and hit Jake squarely hurling him backwards at very fast speed. The bolt have not yet exhausted it's energy as the rest blasted Reus who could not escape from its path.
Arin could barely stand, he couldn't even feel his body. He dropped his sword and fell to ground.
"I hope that attack is enough." He thought.
Jake experienced excruciating pain during his flight and was blown away hundreds of meters. After he landed he felt great pain as if his body was pierced by thousands of needles.
He looked around where he landed and saw that he was deeply embedded into the ground. He glanced at his body and saw that his left hand and body from waist down was disintegrated.
He looked around where he landed and saw that Reus was lying close to him, already dead. He was missing many part of his body.
"I've failed." He mumbled as he looked up. He was dying and he knew it. It was only his strong vitality that kept him alive, else he would have died instantly.
"I should have came more prepared." He thought as he left his eyes turn heavy and his consciousness slipping away. He slowly closed his eyes, never to be opened again.
