Chapter 5 - Chapter Five : meeting the city lord

Dean could not accompany his father for days as he stayed home to completely heal his wound. The time he spent at home was mostly wasted on learning enchantment and some light training. After sufficient rest for one week, he decided that he was fully fit to follow his father to the market.

Soon, the day they slated to travel to the market arrived. Dean dressed in a brown silk shirt with black trouser and leather shoes tying a scabbard on his waist where he carried his daggers. Arin dressed similarly except that he wore white shirt over black trouser and his scabbard carried his longsword.

They took with them a sleigh with carried the things they want to trade in the market. The sleigh was carved with wind runes that kept it at some distance above the ground, the runes were powered by a magic core to activate the runes, it therefore required minimal amount of effort from the handler.

After eating their breakfast, they set out to go. Subsequently they bade goodbye to Laura and left their residence. During their journey, there was silence until Dean broken the stillness and asked

"Dad, when do you think I will advance to the third tier of magic?" Dean questioned.

"I sense you can ascend soon, what you need is a little push and maybe some potion". Arin replied.

"Where do we get the herbs need?." Dean asked with excitement.

"They are quite easy to find, just within the forests near our home". Arin responded with a mischievous smile.

"It is going to be painful though, i have gone through it when I was young like you". He added.

"Why, did you face any challenge in breaking through the third tier of magic?." Dean queried.

"Kind of, I had difficulties ascending the third tier due to reasons I know nothing about." He replied.

"Your father didn't tell you anything about about it". Dean asked.

"Your grandfather was a busy man, but he did mention once that there is something about our blood is mysterious and I shall seek answer when I am ready ". Arin replied.

They walked in complete silence until they Greenhaven village and began to see the outline of the houses in Greenhaven. Soon the reached the town and came across many people who have come to the market and proceeded to tailor shop where they met Hovar, the tailor

"Arcane hunter, it is good to see you after such a long time". Hovar greeted with a smile. He called Arin the 'arcane hunter' because nobody in the town knows his real name.

"Good to see you too, how is the trade going?". Arin replied.

"Ha, it is as usual, we make do with what we see". Hovar answered.

"How do you do, Dean?" Hovar said as he greets Dean.

"I am doing great". Came Dean curt reply as he is nervous when talking to people.

"We've brought this for you to sew into a coat ". Said Arin producing the crimson bear's fur.

"I knew you have a reason for coming. Hmmm, the fur of a fire-elemental tenrian bear". Hovar muttered as he examined the fur.

"Did you kill it arcane hunter?" Hovar asked.

"No, that was Dean's first kill". Arin responded.

"Congratulations boy, you did well". Hovar congratulates.

"Thanks". Dean shyly replied.

"We will be back after buying some goods, will it be ready by then?" Arin inquired.

"Yes, it will be ready hehehehe" he laughed heartily.

Afterwards, they left the tailor after negotiating with Hovar. Arin and his son went to the City Lord hall to visit an old friend of Arin.

On getting the City Lord , they requested to see the City Lord and were brought into the hall where he entertained his warriors and thanes.

"Ha, long time no see, arcane hunter" They were warmly welcomed soon as they entered by a tall muscular man measuring 7'0ft with grey hair, with a clean stubble and matured looks clad in white pants and black linen shirt, covered in grey fur coat.

Thrain Darus was the City Lord of Greenhaven for the past fourteen years, he was already a friend of Arin before being appointed as the City Lord. He respected Arin because he is powerful warrior and can't sense Arin's mana.

"It has been a while, Thrain". Arin added with a genuine smile as they embraced each other.

"Dean, look how big you have grown, how has your days been?" Thrain boomed as he clasped Dean on the shoulder.

"It was pleasant." Dean replied.

"First, let's talk over some ale and roasted meat." Thrain suggested as he led them towards the dining table. The thanes and warriors present greeted them politely.

Foods and frothing ale were served while beautiful ladies with nice curves danced to the music being played causing excitement among the warriors and thanes.

"So, Dean have you ever went into the thighs of a woman?" Thrain asked.

Dean blushed red with embarrassment as he at his feets shyly as Arin and Thrain burst into laughter.

"Choose any woman of your choice and have fun". Thrain added.

"I'm fine thanks". Dean quickly replied as he took a big gulp of wine.

"Dean hunts his first kill which was a tenrian bear". Arin said.

"Congratulations Dean, I knew you would be a powerful warrior like your father." Thrain commended.

"Have you heard about the increasingly frequent raids on the eastern territories by black orcs tribes?." Thrain asked turning to serious matters.

"No, I haven't heard about it". Arin responded.

"Expect more frequent imperial army patrols in this parts the coming days". Thrain said.

Arin stared blankly as he pondered over the information given to him.
