-Levi POV-
Haruka said that he'd be back in five, but now it's been 10 minutes since he left. I'm afraid something might happen, so I ended up walking to the washroom too.
"Are you his new plaything now?" I heard someone's voice through the door.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" This time, it's Haruka's voice I heard. I peek through the door. There they are, Haruka and a guy with brown hair. If I'm not mistaken, he is Mathew Lambert, a rising actor.
"Hah. Of course that's exactly what I meant. Everyone knows Levi Ackerman has a lot of rumours, scandal rumours most of it. I heard he changed his sex partner every week. Wow, he really is the worst, don't you think? Well, of course that's for a while only because their company took care of it really well. I guess people with money can do everything they want just like that. But still, you're from one of the great families too, but we haven't heard about you for years. Did you run away from home and end up being Levi Ackerman's new plaything? How much did he pay you? Maybe I don't have as much money as Levi Ackerman does, but I can treat you better than him. After all, he doesn't deserve a beautiful person like you. What do you think? I'll treat you like a princess if you be with me." Mathew said that bluntly. I don't care what he said about me, but he really did cross the line in saying that to Haruka. I want to punch his face right now.
SLAP!
Before I could interfere, Haruka slapped Mathew on the cheek, which made both Mathew and I shocked.
"How could you say that? You don't even know him that well, and yet you dared to say something like that about him. True, he had a lot of scandal rumours, he used to change his sex partner every week, but he actually didn't want to be like that either. He's been through a lot in his life, and you don't know a single thing about that! So, who are you to call him the worst man?! To me, he is... he is the strongest, smartest, bravest, and most importantly, he has the kindest heart among the people I've ever met in my life." Haruka said that with a low voice, but I could hear him clearly. He's looking at his own feet right now. Did he truly say that just now?
"I don't care what you think of him! You, you dare to slap me on my face." Mathew said that in a cold voice while raising his hand, ready to slap Haruka in the face too.
"Don't you dare touch him." I stopped Matthew before he could do so, and he clearly looked surprised.
"Levi Ackerman. What are you doing here?" Matthew looked at me with a surprise expression.
"Why would you ask that? You knew Mr. Auclair came with me, so here I am. I've been waiting for him to come back to the lounge, but he didn't come back. The dessert's going to melt soon. So I came here to check. I didn't expect to see you here. Matthew Lambert, a well-known actor. So, what business do you have with Mr. Auclair to the point you're going to hurt him?" I asked him in a cold voice, giving him my death glare.
"N..no, sir. I… I didn't mean any harm. You misunderstood." He said that in a startling voice.
"Is that right? Then, I suggest you get out of my sight in this instance. One more thing, Mr. Auclair is here for work, so don't spread any false rumours if you don't want your name to be banned from the entertainment industry." I said that with a threatening voice, and he was taken aback.
"I'm really sorry, sir." He said that and rushed towards the door and left.
"Haruka, are you okay? Did he hurt you anywhere?" As soon as that bastard left, I turned to Haruka. I didn't get any response, but I heard a sniffle coming from him.
"Haruka, why are you crying?" I asked in panic. I believe that bastard didn't do anything to hurt him just now.
"That's just unfair. Why did everyone always say something horrible about you without knowing anything?" He said that with tears streaming down his cheeks. This is the second time. He cried for me.
You know, you really surprise me sometimes. I guess we wouldn't need the dessert anymore."
-10 minutes later-
-Haruka POV-
We really left without eating the dessert, and now here we are, sitting in front of the beach. Seriously, I can't believe I cried in front of him two times already. I'm glad he didn't hear what I said in the washroom earlier.
"Did you calm down already?" Levi suddenly spoke after a long silence.
"Uhmm. I think so. I'm sorry. We ended up not eating the desserts you've ordered." I said that awkwardly. I couldn't face him properly right now. I feel embarrassed.
"No worries. I've ordered that for you. If you don't want to eat, then that's okay. Well, thank you for worrying about me. This is the second time you cried for me." He said that with a grin. Now, I feel more embarrassed.
"What are you saying? That's just how I am. It doesn't mean you're special or anything. Btw, are you really not going to do anything to that actor kid, right?" I asked him, trying to change the topic.
"Well, actually, I want to make him learn from what he did. But I'm the kindest person you've ever met, right? So I wouldn't do anything." He said while grinning, but I know he's teasing me right now. And he did hear that?
"You. How much did you hear?" I asked him in panic.
"Almost everything, I guess." He replied, still with a grin.
"And you pretended you hadn't heard that until now. Ugh, seriously." I said that without looking at him. I'm trying to avoid eye contact, of course. Now, I feel even more embarrassed than before.
"It's not like I pretended. I just wanted to wait for you to calm down. Still, thank you for saying that for me. Seriously, no one ever said that about me. I really appreciate that." He said that with a smile. But with that smile of his, it's like he's trying to hold back the tears from coming out. Seriously, I want to know what exactly happened to him before.
"Betsuni (it's nothing). I'm just telling him the truth." I said that while looking at the sea. The view here is really pretty at night, but the person right beside me is even prettier, to be honest.
"Well, I'm glad to hear that, then. But Haruka, why do you keep staring at me like that?" Levi's voice snaps me out. How did I end up staring at him like that?
"I wasn't staring at you. The view is pretty. I was looking at the sea, not you." I lied, and of course that lie is obvious.
"Ah, I see. Then, would you like to visit the local market here? It usually opens during the day only, but since it's summer season, they might open until midnight." He said that with a smile. Is he trying to change the topic for me?
"Well, I would love to." I answered him just like that, without hesitation.
"Let's go." Again, he grabbed my hand just like that, and I just let him do what he wanted again.
//SKIP//
-The Local Market-
So, here we are. The local market. Wow. I've never been to a place like this before, to be honest. I tried some street food, but not at the local market like this. I look at Levi, and he seems excited. Wait, don't tell me...
"Levi, is this also your first time coming here?" I asked him, despite knowing the answer.
"You're right. I've been wanting to come here with you. One of my wishlists, you could say." He replied with a grin. I knew it.
"So, what would you like to do?" I asked him, and he looked at me in surprise.
"Why did you ask me that?" He asked me in confusion. Right, why did I ask him that?
"You said it's one of your wishlists, you should decide what you want then." I said that, trying to find the best answer.
"You're right. Then, how about we try tarte tropézienne? I heard it's the best pastry they got here. Since we didn't get to eat the dessert earlier, shall we?" He said that to me as if he's asking for permission.
"I said just do what you want, Levi." As soon as I said that, Levi grabbed my hand tightly, and we went through the crowd. I'm still wearing my face mask, btw. And without realising it, we arrived at the food vendor.
"Can I have two tarte tropéziennes for takeaway please?" Levi said that to the salesman. Takeaway? I thought he wanted to eat them here.
"Why did you order a takeaway?" As soon as he finished ordering, I asked him.
"I figured you might be a bit uncomfortable eating with the crowd here. So let's eat them at the beach later." He said that while smiling. He is still thinking about me.
"Suit yourself, then. I'm okay with either one." I said that, avoiding his gaze.
"Sir, your orders are here." The salesman spoke to Levi. Wow, that was quick. But one thing is, I guess that man didn't recognise Levi.
"Coming." Levi said that and went to take the tarte tropézienne we've ordered.
"That was quick." As soon as he came back, I said that.
"Right. Let's go eat them at the beach." He said that and dragged me to the beach.
"I don't really like sweet things, but this one is really good." Levi said that. He started to eat it right away after we took our seats on the sand.
"Levi, you came here many times, yet you only tried everything here for the first time today?" I asked him while looking at him.
"Right. I came many times, but for work. I don't even have the time to enjoy myself. Or maybe because I don't have anyone to spend the time with. But today, I got to try everything with you." He said that with a smile, but he didn't look at me this time. His eyes fixed on the sea.
"Then let's just do everything we can while we're still here." This time, he turns his head to look at me.
"Really? Let's go see the artisanal crafts after this." He said that happily. This guy really has a pure heart, but no one ever sees this side of him. Maybe that's because of how he was raised. Well, I don't have the right to say anything about that.
//SKIP TO THE NEXT DAY//
We ended up doing everything Levi wanted, and now, here I am lying on my bed, having a fever. And I didn't even see this coming.
"Are you feeling better now?" Levi suddenly entered the room while holding the tray. He put his hand on my forehead.
"Your fever doesn't seem to go down yet. Seriously, why didn't you tell me that you cannot be exposed to the sun too long? I wouldn't ask you to do those activities if I had known this." He said that with a sigh.
"How would I know that? This is my first time playing at the beach for a long time." I said that while glaring at him. Right, I didn't expect my body to be this fragile to heat.
"Hah. Well, that's my fault. I'm sorry. Luckily, your fever is not that high. Here, eat this. You need to eat the medicine later." He said that, trying to feed me.
"Levi, I'm not a kid. Let me eat on my own." I said that, taking the tray from him, and then ate the porridge.
"This is quite good. Did you make it by yourself?" I asked him, and looking at his proud face, I knew the answer already.
"Of course. I did ask for the recipe from Aiden, btw. Haha." He said that with a chuckle. He's embarrassed, actually.
"Since when did you get close with Aiden to get his personal number?" I asked him while raising my eyebrows.
"Well, we exchanged numbers the last time we met at your place. You see, I want to learn to cook everything you like." He replied, and I feel like I shouldn't have asked that.
"Suit yourself then. So, when are we going back to Paris?" This speciality of mine, changing the topic.
"We won't be back until you get better. So you should rest for today." He said that with a firm voice. I know that tone. He's going to forbid me from doing anything today and until I get better.
