-Auclair Family Hospital-
I heard there was an emergency in the neurological department, where the patient is one of the conglomerate family's third generation. I came here after I was done with my patient.
"It's too late, we cannot save him anymore." I heard my brother's voice. What happened? This is the first time he sounded very down and not confident.
"What happened?" I asked one of the nurses outside the emergency surgery room.
"Dr. Charles. The thing is, the patient inside is Mr. Levi Ackerman, the eldest grandson of the Ackerman Family, third generation. He's currently suffering from subarachnoid haemorrhage, and he's in a very critical condition and needs to be operated on urgently. But Dr. Chris said that it was impossible to save him, and he's not very confident that he will succeed." The nurse said, looking down at her feet.
"Thank you." I said that and made my way inside the surgery room.
"Charles, what are you doing here?" My presence there clearly shocked my brother, Hanaka Chris Auclair. As well as my father.
"What are you doing, aniki? You need to operate on him as soon as possible!" I raised my voice a bit, looking at the patient. I already forgot what his name is.
"It's impossible, Charles, he cannot be saved anymore. Even if I perform the surgery, the chances of him surviving are very low." He said he was disappointed, but that made me more irritated.
"You're saying this without even trying first. Aniki, are you, seriously a doctor right now?" I said that in front of everyone, and that clearly made him shocked.
"Move. I'll do the surgery. He still can be saved, and I'll make sure he survives and is healthy again." I make my way towards the patient and look at him sadly. His head was wrapped, and I could not see his face clearly.
"Charles, what are you doing? You're not…" His voice was cut before I could cut him myself. It was my father.
"Chris, you wait outside. Haruka, I will assist you." My father said, and I just nodded.
My brother made his way outside, and now only me, my father, and the other 3 people responsible for the surgery room are inside.
Without saying anything, I begin the operation with my father's assistance. After 5 hours, the surgery is done, and it was a success. Like I said, miracles do happen sometimes.
"Father, please keep it a secret that I'm the one who performed the surgery." After washing everything and changing the clothes, I said that to my father.
"Haruka, you're the one who performed the surgery. I cannot give the patient the wrong information." My father objected to my request.
"I just did what I could. Besides, the one who should perform the surgery is Chris Aniki. What would the Ackerman Family think if the other person were in charge?" Knowing my father, he surely doesn't want people to look down on our family, especially in the medical field.
"Alright then." Feeling beaten, my father just agreed with my request.
I make my way towards the door and exit the surgery room. My brother is standing outside, perhaps waiting for me.
"Charles, how's the surgery going?" He asked, looking down at his own feet. What happened to him today?
"It was a success, Aniki." I smiled at him, but he still looked upset.
"Aniki, you're just afraid of the outcome, right? You should try first and do your best. You're the best neurosurgeon here after all." I tried to cheer him up.
"That's the reason I'm afraid the surgery might not go well. A part of that is that he's from Ackerman." The Ackerman Family was mentioned again. What's wrong with that? I know their Family is the most influential in France, but we, as doctors, can just do the best we can. We cannot save everyone just because we're doctors.
"Aniki, not even the best doctor in the world could save all the lives of the patients, but we as doctors can just try our best to save them. We are sincerely trying our best because we know how important one's life is. So, keep being the best neurosurgeon in France and also in the world."
And I'm sorry for raising my voice towards you earlier. Let's go to the waiting room and greet the family." I smiled and then made my way towards the waiting room with my father and brother.
"Dr. Auclair, how's the surgery going?" The old man comes towards my father. His face looks really worried. I bet he's the chairman and the grandfather. I look at the other faces there. A man, the patient's father, and a young girl, perhaps his girlfriend
"The surgery was a success, but the young master is still unconscious. He'll be staying in the ICU for tonight, and if he's getting better, we will transfer him to the VIP room." My father said calmly.
"Thank God for giving my grandson more time to spend his life. Dr. Auclair, thank you. I couldn't thank you enough. The surgery was a success because of you." He grabbed my father's hand. Thanking my father sincerely. I could see he was trying to hold back his tears.
"The one who performed the surgery is my son, Sir Hanaka Chris Auclair." My father pointed to Chris Aniki, and my brothers clearly looked shocked. Did not expect he would listen to this.
"But father…" His words were cut off by me.
"My brother is the best neurosurgeon here. He tried his best to save your grandson," I said, smiling.
The chairman walked towards my brother and grabbed his hands.
"Thank you, thank you so much for saving my eldest grandson." His tears broke out after all. This patient must be very important to him. After all, he's the eldest grandson.
"I'm just doing my job as a doctor, sir." My brother just smiled.
"Please come to the Ackerman Family Residence for dinner. This is the least I could do." He said that sincerely.
This old man is a generous person compared to the other one, he just stays silent from the start. But when I look at him, he clearly doesn't like the idea of the old man inviting us for dinner.
"I really appreciate that, sir, but you don't have to do that." My brother turned down the offer politely.
"This will not do. When I invited you to dinner, you didn't have a choice but to accept that." He said it in a demanding tone. Well, we cannot go against his decision, even though he's the generous one. He's Ackerman, after all.
"If you insist, I will gladly accept the invitation." My brother said it politely.
"You should bring the whole family, Dr. Auclair." Now he walked towards my father and said that.
"Will do, sir." My father said while nodding his head.
"And who is this handsome young man here?" Now, he's looking at me. Shit, I don't like it when people ask about me.
"He's my second son, sir, Haruka Charles Auclair. He's an anesthesiologist and surgeon specialist here." My father said it proudly.
"Haruka Charles Auclair. I've heard your name before. The smartest international student in the UK That's you, right?" He asked me excitedly, like he'd already forgotten that he cried because of his grandson earlier. This old man is really something.
"That's just a coincidence, sir. I'm just an ordinary student there." I said it politely.
"You're a very humble person. Lauren, you should get to know him now." The old man said, teasing the girl, who just stayed silent from the start. Wait, he's not the young master's girlfriend?
"Grandfather, I already have someone I like from middle school." She glared at the old man, and the old man just laughed. Grandfather? So, she's the granddaughter.
"Grandfather is just kidding. So, Dr. Auclair, can we visit my grandson now?" Luckily, he changed the topic already.
"Yeah, you can, sir." My father said.
"Thank you very much. Please let me know when you are free for the dinner, and do send my regards to chairman Auclair." He smiled.
"Will do, sir." My father said while nodding his head.
The old man just smiled, and three of them made their way towards the exit door.
-End of Flashback-
That's all I remembered about what happened five years ago when Levi Ackerman was admitted to our family hospital. I don't want to remember what happened after that.
