Chapter 7 - 7

I had been staying at my in-laws' house for the past few days, and Ethan and Megan had been going out of their way to please me, making delicious food for me.

In order not to arouse suspicion, I pretended to be unwell and had them bring the food to the bedroom.

I didn't eat that food but packed it all up and froze it in the small refrigerator in the bedroom.

I planned to find time to send this food for testing.

That night, as soon as I got home, Megan said to me with a smile, "Olivia, I specially made your favorite abalone congee tonight.

Come and have a taste."

I guess Megan was getting a bit anxious seeing that I was still healthy.

I agreed verbally but quickly slipped into the bedroom.

After ten minutes, Megan came to urge me again, saying that the congee wouldn't taste good if it got cold.

I had no choice but to go downstairs.

But as soon as I went downstairs, I saw Sophia sitting at the dining table, drinking congee with her head down.

Wasn't this the abalone congee that Megan had prepared for me? If I guessed correctly, there must be something added to it.

Sophia saw me staring at her after coming downstairs.

She swallowed the last mouthful of congee and looked smug, "It's just a bowl of abalone congee.

Is it necessary to be so calculating."

I sighed, "Sophia, didn't you say you wanted to maintain your figure and prepare for the wedding? Isn't it not good to eat so late."

Sophia rolled her eyes, "Mind your own business.

You look so fake, it makes me sick."

As soon as she finished saying the word "sick."

Sophia suddenly frowned, then held her stomach and groaned in pain.

Hearing the sound, Megan quickly ran out of the kitchen, "Sophia, what's wrong with you."

Sophia was already in too much pain to speak.

I curled the corner of my lips, "She drank all the abalone congee you made for me."

Megan's face turned pale, "What."

Then, she took out her phone with trembling hands and called for an ambulance.

At the hospital, after a series of examinations, the doctor said that Sophia had acute gastroenteritis and needed to be hospitalized for observation.

Just then, Sophia's fiancé arrived at the hospital.

But as soon as he entered the ward, he suddenly clutched his chest and collapsed.

After emergency treatment, the doctor said that he had suffered a mild myocardial infarction due to overexertion and emotional agitation.

Megan was unwilling to believe this fact and knelt in front of the doctor, begging him to cure her future son-in-law.

After I went to help pay the fees and came back, Sophia had just regained consciousness.

As soon as she saw me, she immediately wanted to rush over in agitation, "It's all because of you! You poisoned the abalone congee, causing my fiancé and me to be hospitalized! I'll make you pay with your life."

Sophia looked hideous, as if she wanted to devour me alive.

I was a bit speechless, "Don't make false accusations.

Why would I want to harm you."

Sophia was already a bit hysterical, laughing and crying, "You're jealous that I'm getting married while your husband died early."

"I'm going to call the police."

As soon as Sophia mentioned calling the police, Megan panicked beside her, "Sophia, you can't say such things."

Sophia took out her phone and was about to dial the police number, but Ethan snatched the phone from her and smashed it on the ground, "Stop making a fuss."

Sophia looked at Ethan in disbelief, "Dad, Olivia Quinn caused my fiancé and me to be hospitalized, yet you still favor her."

Hehe, what favor? They were just afraid that what they had done would be exposed, right? Seeing Sophia's smashed phone, I took out my own phone and pretended to dial the police number, "Sophia, don't worry, I'll call the police for you."

Sophia was stunned by my action, while Megan and Ethan beside her looked terrified and instantly became anxious and restless.

This time, I had to thank Sophia for her unintentional act.

It seemed that I was one step closer to the truth.

I secretly clenched the pendant, thinking to myself: Daughter, wait for me, I will definitely find out the truth.
