"You're late, Adam," Krass'tine called out, his gruff voice echoing through the bustling marketplace. Adam hurried through the throngs of people, juggling a basket of fresh berries and a loaf of bread.

"I know, I know," Adam huffed, a hint of embarrassment tinting his cheeks. "I lost track of time again."

Krass'tine, a burly creature with a tough exterior and a heart of gold, chuckled. "You and that curiosity of yours." He slapped Adam on the back, nearly sending him toppling over. "But you're here now, and that's what matters."
