Gaibe's Point Of View
I had did as Ferdinand instructed and had Alahstir land the helicopter at a hanger that Ferdinand had requested. Once I climbed out of the helicopter, I stretched and scanned my surroundings, nervously.
I noticed a blacked out sedan parked and idling nearby. I strained my eyes a bit more to get a better look, and the driver's side window lowered slightly to show a beckoning hand.
"Alahstir, I give you permission to stay at a hotel, or return home until I call for you." I said, as I began to walk towards the car.
"Boss... I cannot agree with that..." He replied.
"You what?" I asked, bemused.
"I cannot allow you to go into enemy territory alone. It's far too dangerous." Alahstir replied.
"Well, for starters, it's not enemy territory... and this is basically a Stealth mission. Having you there will definitely blow my cover. If that happens, then the certainty of my life and well-being will greatly diminish... So for now, do as I say." I ordered, sternly.
There was no way I was going to bring him with me to this meeting. If things did end up getting sexual, what the hell did he plan to do? Stand by the door inside the room?
'Not on your fucking life, Alahstir...'
"It's fine. Bring your minion. He can sleep in the guest house." A man called out from the car.
The voice sounded familiar, though I couldn't quite place where I had heard it before. Without wasting anymore time, I continued my march to the sedan, with Alahstir in tow.
When I made it to the car, I got into the passenger's seat, while Alahstir climbed into the back. I turned to thank our escort and immediately froze. It was one of Tristan's mates.
"So, you actually agreed to come? Can't tell if your too nice, too brave, or too stupid. Heh-Heh." Bellamy chuckled.
"I could say the same to you. I wonder who Tristan would be more pissed at, the guy who got roped into his mate's schemes, or the mates that made it all happen to begin with?" I replied with a smug grin.
"Careful Gaibe... A lot can happen between now and our destination..." Bellamy said with a glare.
"Yes. I agree. I'd hate to have to take one of Tristan's mates away from him..." Alahstir said, darkly.
"You stay back there and shut the fuck up. The grown-ups are speaking." Bellamy replied, not sparing Alahstir a single glance.
I had heard from Zachariah that even though Bellamy was in the pharmaceutical business, he had killed Danhiel's mother and the doctor, effortlessly. Not to mention, the punch he delivered to Naithynn. I had also witnessed him stomp on Rahzden's groin when Ferdinand, Sylvester, and he had gotten to take out their frustration on him.
The ride to Ferdinand's mansion wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be. Bellamy talked about Kaleb, and how he had basically done a complete 180 once he had turned 16. He also informed me that he had had three close encounters with men trying to assault him.
Bellamy said he couldn't be sure if he was just suppressing the memories, or if he had just become numb to it all, due to living in the facility. By the time we had reached the mansion, I was ridiculously curious about the boy now.
He sounded like he was an amalgamation of secrets and hidden agendas. I wanted to pick his brain and try to gauge what he was actually thinking. As we climbed out of the car, Bellamy placed a hand on my shoulder with a firm grip.
"Listen, I don't have much room to say anything, because I've been called a monster on many occasions... but, if I can give you any advice it's this... Don't take their words as wholesale. These kids are basically experts at hiding their emotions when they need to, or when they don't want to be a burden. Honestly, it's terrifying how emotional Tristan is, under the surface. I have no doubt that if we didn't share this linked bond, me and the guys would have fucked up on multiple occasions with Tristan by now. So just... listen to what he says and try to find the hidden meaning in his eyes. These kids have been trained in the ways of servicing an Alpha. Body language won't mean jack shit... I'll show your minion to the guest house. Ferdinand is waiting for you." Bellamy said, nodding towards the front doors.
True to his words, Ferdinand was standing in the doorway, looking worried. For some reason, seeing Ferdinand worried, made me much more calm than I had been before. It was like divine retribution was already at work.
"Hey... Thanks again... also, sorry for putting you in a tough spot. Just know that I trust you completely, so there's no reason for you to hold a grudge. I know that you wouldn't intentionally hurt him or act spiteful toward him." Ferdinand said in a hushed voice, as he ushered me inside.
"So you say, but your mate could very well inflict damage on me. If he ever finds out, I want you to know that I'm completely prepared to throw you all under the bus to save myself." I shrugged as he led me to the staircase.
The house was eerily quiet. There wasn't an active soul around. It was unnerving to say the least. We walked up the stairs and rounded a few corners before coming to a stop at a specific door.
"Ah... A word of advice. Kaleb, much like his older brother, is a tiny force of nature. And he's unpredictable as hell. Since this is his first heat cycle, there are more unknowns than known. Just... uhm... Do your best." Ferdinand said with a hand on my shoulder.
He knocked on the door, and then began to make a hasty retreat. "Good luck, brother." He threw over his shoulder, before disappearing around a corner.
"Come in..." I heard a voice say from behind the door.
I took a deep breath and then opened the door. Once I stepped inside the room, I was immediately taken aback. It was noticeably warmer in the room, and it smelled like a warm apple pie cooling from the oven. It was incredible, the crisp apple smell blending with cinnamon was almost better than an actual pie.
"So, you're Gaibe?" The boy asked, dragging me from my thoughts.
"Uh... Y-Yeah that's me. Quick question, What kind of Omega are you? Like Dominant, Hyper-Dominant, Recessive? Did anyone ever tell you?" I asked as I walked further into the room.
"I'm a Recessive Omega. Why?" He asked.
I couldn't help but widen my eyes. It wasn't even midnight yet and his room was completely saturated in his pheromones. Not only that, but they were incredibly strong, and this kid was only a Recessive!? I wasn't sure if I should hate or applaud the facility.
I could already feel my heart rate increasing gradually. Then I had to wonder, if this is a Recessive Omegas heat cycle, Ferdinand and the others must go stark ravingly crazy during Tristan's heat.
"You seem apprehensive about something. What is it?" He asked, cocking his head to the side.
And Gods help me, because he was ridiculously adorable while doing it. Seriously what is this? I came here to talk to him, but I can't even formulate my words.
"No. Just curious and lost for words at the same time... Sorry." I said.
"It's fine. I don't mind. You can have a seat too. Just lock the door behind you first." He replied.
I halted my steps and turned back to the door, for the second time today I was surprised, the kid had 3 locks on his door. One on the knob, a deadbolt, and a chain. I turned back around to look at him puzzled.
"My siblings can be pretty worrisome at times. Better safe than sorry, right?" He shrugged.
I couldn't help but laugh. For some reason it was becoming easier to talk to and understand him. He just wanted his freedom and who could be mad at that?
I locked all three locks, then made my way back to his bed. It was pretty spacious considering he wasn't all that big to begin with. I left my shoes by the foot of the bed and tossed my jacket into a chair, but not before grabbing something out of my pocket.
"Here, Happy Birthday, Kaleb." I said, extending the small box towards him.
"What the hell? You're proposing already?" He asked, looking well and truly confused.
"No, idiot. Just open the box first." I said, ruffling his hair.
He shrugged and opened the box, then looked at me even more confused.
"Two keys? To what?" He asked picking them both up.
"I'll write down the two addresses for you later. The bigger key goes to a storage that has your actual presents from me. I wasn't sure if I could bring them covertly tonight. But the other one is to a beach home I bought here. It's yours if you want it. Ferdinand said that you wanted to make your own choices and decisions and well, I think that's not a bad thing. It can be scary so if you want I can have my people look after you, get you what you need, show you around the beach and shops, whatever you want." I said.
"And if I'd rather have you do all of that instead?" He asked, looking directly at me.
"Whaa? But you just met me..." I stammered.
"And yet you gave me a house. And I don't know your people, so it would be uncomfortable as hell..." He replied.
The puppy dog eyes he gave me were foul play! It was extremely effective and wholly unfair.
'No seriously... What the actual fuck?'
