Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

"Kim!" My mom touched me and I jerked, "let's go in". She said and opened the door widely. Still in shock and unable to trace my steps I followed my mom to the kitchen, I took a seat by the counter and picked up an apple from the tray. "So how come I never knew you had a friend in school?" My mom asked.

"Friend?" Pretending not to know what she was talking about. "Kate is my friend and you know her." She gave me a look that said I knew what she was talking about. "What!?"

"Don't give me that crap, you very well know what I'm talking about."

"Well!! Lilah isn't a friend of mine," I told her.

"Then is she a girlfriend?" Gosh where the hell did my mom get her nonsense from, "and before you start saying anything I saw the way you were looking at her outside," she didn't let me speak.

"And how was I looking at her?" I smiled and then I fled up to my room with my mom calling after me so she could continue interrogating me, I didn't come down again so as not to get questions I couldn't answer.

The next day I nearly could not get past her as she was everywhere pressuring me with questions. As soon as I got out of the house it seemed like a breakthrough from hell. Now I just have to get through the day without bumping into Lilah.

"Bitch, you are alive!" Kate seemed happy to see me.

"I made it!" Dancing around her. We talked about random things before planning to get to class as I had planned to avoid Lilah.

Speaking of the devil, Lilah just passed the hallway with her minions and didn't seem to bother to bully me. I was thankful but deep down I felt sad that she didn't even notice me. Gosh what was I thinking this is a good step, at least the bullying would stop. I headed to class afterwards, and found her sitting on my desk to my surprise.

My legs rooted to the ground not knowing if I should walk toward her or just walk out of class, I chose to walk out of class. It was already too late because Lilah had already seen me and shouted my name immediately.

I walked to her like an obedient dog ready to get scolding from its owner. "Kimberly, were you planning on running away?" She asked when I got to her but I simply shook my head negatively.

"But you turned to walk out of the class when you saw me?"

"No, I forgot my pen in my locker," I replied with the first word that came to mind.

She looked at me for a while which made me feel uncomfortable before glancing down to my shaking hands, "which of your pens did you forget? The orange one?" She asked and the whole class bursted into laughter, I looked at my hand only to discover that my lie blew over, all my pens were complete but to my luck the teacher stepped into the class and the bullying stopped. Lilah moved to the seat beside me and I looked at her surprised, "Seatmates!" she declared and flashed a smile my way and immediately I was lost in them.

I was awakened when I heard laughs from the class. The teacher had been calling me.

Later that day Lilah cornered me, "Kim, wait I have something to ask you?" I stopped my track and turned to her, "would you like to come to my house this evening?" She asked.

What! Lilah Stone wants to hang out with me?! Was I hearing things? I was shocked, I didn't know what  to say, I was shaking. What if this was one of her pranks? "Hmm, I have to ask my mom first?" With that I proceeded to call my mom hoping she would say no to the request but disappointed she said I should go and have fun and I should be back before midnight.

The drive to Lilah's house was a very quiet one, only the sound of our breath could be heard. "Here we are!" Lilah announced when we got to a huge compound. She walked me to the door where a woman dressed in black stood, from the look on her face you could tell she was there to usher Lilah in. "Christine, this is Kimberly Wilson my friend," the woman's smile froze, why was she surprised? Did I look haggard? I was very confused.

"My dear, forgive my manners. You are welcome," she now had a broad smile on her face. As I walked into Lilah's living room I was in awe, the place extremely beautiful, I haven't seen any place so beautiful as this place. Realising I was staring too much I tried to hide my embarrassment.

"Let's go to my room," Lilah offered, practically dragging me. Lilah's room was more beautiful than the living room, what was I saying? Of course the bedroom is supposed to be more beautiful than the living room. "You can sit on the bed," she offered and I took the invitation and sat on the bed.

"Sorry for Christine's behaviour earlier," she apologised for the older woman's behaviour, which surprised me, Lilah had never apologised for anything.

"Why do you look surprised?" she asked.

"You don't seem like someone that would apologise for what another person did."

"Why do you say that?" She asked again sitting close to me on the bed.

"I don't know, maybe because you spent all these years bullying me," I said thoughtlessly, realising what I said I covered my mouth and she just smirked. "I'm sorry, I spoke without thinking," I quickly apologised.

"It's okay, I have been a spiteful person and I apologise for my behaviour. I hope the things I've done can be forgiven," right now my face was red from surprise.
