A warm familiar feeling was stirring in me
"Is this qi?" Testing it out by trying to move the feeling to my hand
Seeing my hand coated in a crimson glow I felt ecstatic knowing I had a way to protect myself if anyone hunted me.
But after a few short moments the glow fizzled out
"I guess that's to be expected"
Suddenly I remembered I still had bones to get rid of and to find a safe spot near the village while still being hidden
Carrying the bones with me I ran a bit away from the path I had taken my first victim on.
"I should bury these away from where I'm going to hide in case some expert is able to sense qi from these bones"
Then I felt dread "what if an expert can sense my demonic wi?"
Pushing this worry to the back of my mind I digged near a tree and buried the bones
then looking for a small area to hide I saw a rabbit going into its burrow.
'That's the best idea I got'
So I digged out a small hole to sleep in went into the lotus position and tried to gather qi before I tried to sleep
'Do I even need to sleep?'
While meditating I kept trying to gather qi but nothing happened
I tried and tried and tried again but it never worked
'Can I only gain qi from eating people?'
'Speaking of witch I think being a Jiangshi has changed my mind, I wouldn't have been able to eat that women if it was me before reincarnating'
But what if I gain whatever qi the person may have had
Then if I eat martial artists I could become exponentially stronger!
But that was just a theory for now I need to see how long it takes for me to get hungry between eating

After a few days the hunger came back but it was worse.
'Maybe waiting until I'm hungry is a bad idea'
I went back to the trail leading into the village and waited…
After a few hours a merchant was coming and he didn't have any protection
"Perfect"
waiting until his carriage was right in front of me I used what little qi I had and lunged for his head
I grabbed him and tried to take him into the bushes but I had made a mistake
The horse were startled and started running full speed I was able to jump off the carriage while grabbing a few of his items and went into the bushes
Noticing I had not killed him yet and he was squirming, gasping for air I ended him swiftly
Eating the corpse I felt more qi enter my body and it was almost euphoric.
But the horses ran to the village already and the people were going to notice that the merchant wasn't there. Quickly running back to the hole with the few items I stole I waited for someone to come after me after seeing the bones but nobody came…
