Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3 – UNEXPECTED NIGHT

"I'm sorry for interrupting your night,

Miss Violet, but I have no choice and need your help.

Can I charge my phone here?

I can't call the car shop to fix my car,

and, and I am not familiar with this place,"

he asked, sounding genuinely in need.

"Ahh, yes, sure," I said, turning toward my living room.

as I turned my self towards the living room

My heart sank and saw that it was messy

Without thinking, I blocked his way with my hand to stop him from entering.

His Expression was confused because I block his way.

My embarrassment was overwhelming;

I didn't want him to see the messy things in my living room.

"Uhmmm, Mr. Cyprus, just give me a minute,

uhmm I need do something that need to clean it up,"

I said, smiling sheepishly.

"Ahh okay" he said and stepped back in front of the door.

I rushed to the living room,

frantically cleaning up the scattered items and shoving them into my room.

After a few minutes of whirlwind tidying,

I returned to the door.

"You can come in now, sir" I said, finally allowing him inside.

I handed him a towel to dry off himself from soaking wet to the rain.

"Thank you," he replied, taking the towel and drying his hair.

As he moved, I couldn't help but observe how the water droplets adhered to his skin,

emphasizing his features.

As I gazing him his moved become slow again,

those droplets moved from his face to his neck that makes me gulp and feel thirst.

"Miss violet ?

I returned myself as soon he called my name.

"Ahhhh"

"Yes Mr cyprus" uhmmm

"You can charge, here ," I murmured, attempting to focus to the outlet.

He plugged in his phone and exhaled with relief.

"Thank you, Melody. I absolutely appreciate it."

"It's no problem," I said, my voice wavering.

I could not ignore the electrifying tension between us.

As he relaxed on the couch,

I observed that it was still raining outside.

"Looks like it's going to be a while before the rain stops,"

he observed, looking out the window.

"Yeah, it's pretty heavy," I agreed, sitting down across from him.

We sat in silence for a moment, the sound of the rain creating a surprisingly intimate atmosphere.

"By the way, what are you doing here on our street?"

I asked.

"Uhhhhh, I have a friend who lives nearby.

I returned something to him and

I tried to find some shortcuts to the highway,

but I got lost until my car stopped and wouldn't start, and my phone died."

"So, do you live here alone?"

he asked, breaking the silence.

"Yeah, it's just me," I replied, feeling a bit more comfortable.

"Must be nice to have your own space," he said, smiling.

"It is, but it can get lonely sometimes," I admitted.

He nodded, his gaze softening. "I can understand that."

Can I use your bathroom? He asked.

"Yes, sure," I said without thinking.

A second later, I remembered that my underwear was hanging in the restroom.

"Ohhh my," I murmured, dashed to the restroom as he approached.

My foot became twisted in the floor mat,

and I tripped and fell forward just as he reached out to open the door.

When he noticed me stumble,

he automatically reached out his hand to grab me,

but the unexpected action put him off balance towards me.

We both fell to the floor in a tangle of limbs and uncertainty.

"Are you okay?" he said,

his voice filled with concern as he gazed down at me.

Our faces were only inches apart, and I could feel his breath on my skin.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I said, my heart racing.

The proximity was electrifying,

and I couldn't help but notice how his eyes seemed to darken

with an emotion I couldn't quite place.

He shifted slightly, attempting to stand up,

but his fingers slipped on the smooth surface, bringing him even closer to me.

I could feel the heat emanating from his body, and the smell of rain and his perfume was irresistible.

His chest brushed against mine, and we both remained motionless for a time, we caught up in the intensity of the situation.

"I'm sorry," he said, his voice husky as his gaze focused on mine. "I didn't mean to—"

"It's okay," I said, my voice barely audible.

"It was an accident."

We remained like that for a heartbeat longer, like

the world outside vanishing as the tension between us increased.

He slowly pulled me to my feet, his touch lingering on my arm.

I felt a shudder run down my spine as I regained my balance.

"I... I just remembered I have something in there," I stuttered, attempting to regain control.

"Give me a second."

He nodded and stepped back to give me access to the bathroom.

I ran in, grabbing my strewn underpants and putting them into the hamper,

my cheeks flushed with embarrassment. I took a long breath,

collected myself, and opened the door.

"It's all yours," I said, smiling awkwardly.

"Thanks," he replied, giving me a small,

amused smile as he stepped into the bathroom.

While he was inside, I tried to calm my beating heart,

which was still filled with adrenaline from our fall.

The rain outside resumed its steady beating,

contributing to the weird, intimate mood that appeared to surround us..

When he reappeared a few minutes later,

he appeared more controlled,

but his eyes still had a flicker of something I couldn't quite describe.

"Thanks again, Miss Violet," he murmured softly.

"For everything."

"You're welcome,"

"Uhhhm I fixed your faucet there" he said.

My eyes widened of what he actually did fixing my faucet

"Sir you don't have to do that" saying with embarrasment.

"It's okay, I owe you too so we're even now" he said

"Anyway thank you for, uhmm fixing my faucet"

I replied, my voice steady despite the butterflies that I felt inside.

As we returned to the living room,

He looked out the window.

"I guess I should probably call for help now that my phone is charged."

"Of course," I said, feeling a strange mix of relief and disappointment.

As he dialed the number,

I couldn't help but feel that this night had changed something between us.

The closeness,

the unexpected intimacy—it all felt like the beginning of something new and exciting.

After he finished the call, he turned to me, his expression soft.

"Thank you again, Melody. For everything tonight."

"It was nothing," I replied, smiling. "Just glad I could help."

"I think I should go now" he said.

"Goodnight, Miss Violet."

"Goodnight, Mr. Cyprus," I whispered, my heart fluttering as he left.

As I closed the door behind him,

I couldn't help but smile.

Despite the chaos and embarrassment,

tonight had been thrilling and unexpectedly romantic.

I knew this was just the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

----------

The next morning,

I arrived at the office, my thoughts lingering on the happening of last night.

And I could sleep properly because of that.

I glanced over at Mr. Cyprus's office, wondering if he was inside.

The memory made me blush,

and just then, Bryle appeared out of nowhere, instantly noticing my flushed cheeks.

"Hey, Melody, why are you blushing?" he asked, looking concerned.

"What??? No, it's nothing," I replied abruptly, trying to brush off his concern.

"Do you feel sick?"Bryle inquired, reaching out to touch my forehead.

His closeness surprised me, and thinking that he is too close.

Just then, Mr. Cyprus walked through to his office.

And saw Bryle's hand on my forehead,

and his expression darkened with a mix of curiosity and irritation.

"Miss Violet," he called out, his voice became icy and authoritative again.

Hmmm? does he have bipolar disorder? he was different last night.

I quickly pulled away from Bryle, my cheeks burning with embarrassment.

"Yes, Mr. ---- ?"

He didn't wait for a reply, his eyes narrowing slightly.

"I need you to prepare a report for my meeting this afternoon.

Make sure everything is in order and ready to go. I expect it to be on my desk by noon."

"Yes, sir," I said, trying not to show how nervous I was by nodding rapidly.

Bryle turned to face me, worried,

as Mr. Cyprus turned and strode away, his typical air of coldness.

"Melody, are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine, really," I responded, making an effort to sound comforting.

"I have to get to work,"

My mind raced as I made my way to my desk.

I was feeling uneasy because of the tension from last night and Mr. Cyprus's abrupt change of mood today.

I put all of my attention on the work at hand, eager to finish the report and steer clear of anymore difficult situations.

After hours of focused work,

I completed the report Mr. Cyprus had requested.

I took a deep breath, gathered the documents,

and made my way to his office,

my nerves tingling with a mix of anticipation and apprehension.

As I reached his office door,

I knocked lightly before stepping inside.

I entered to his office , Mr. Cyprus looked up from his desk taking signatures and examining the data and reports that are in his desk, he is quiet serious doing his job.

I walk near to hand him my report for the meeting and his expression unreadable as I approached.

"Mr. Cyprus, good afternoon,"

I remarked while extending the report.

"I've completed the report you requested.

Everything is ready for your meeting.

Taking the report from me, he momentarily touched my fingertips.

"Thank you, Melody. I'll give it a quick look.

I nodded and turned to go when I suddenly let out a sneeze.

"Achoooo ! I winced when a tickling in my nose was detected by the abrupt sound.

Mr. Cyprus looked back at me, his worried eyes narrowing.

"Are you, Okay ?"

In a gentler than normal tone, he asked.

"It sounds like you could have an illness."

"I'm okay, really," I replied, attempting to dispel his worries.

"That was only a tiny sneeze."

He didn't seem to be persuaded.

"You appear to be unwell. Are you certain you're well?"

I was surprised that he was concerned to me, change of mood again huh?

"No, I'm not in sick, sir. I believe that allergies are the only cause."

After examining me for a while,

he sighed and his demeanor softened a little.

"You should rest if you're not feeling well.

You don't have to exert too much effort on yourself.

His concern startled me.

"Mr. Cyprus, thank you very much, but I assure you that I'm okay."

He seemed a little concerned even though he nodded.

"All right, let me know if you need anything,"

I felt a mixture of relief and perplexity as I thanked him and left his office.

His unanticipated worry added another level of complexity to our connection,

and as I made my way back to my desk,

I couldn't help but think about it.

I looked at the time as I got back into my work and noticed the meeting was about to start.
