Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: The Alliance

Did I go too far threatening her? No. I don't think I did. I was standing outside the gate waiting. In a distant view, I saw father heading outside the gate. Why is he coming to meet me personally? He could send a soldier to usher me inside. What has that vile lady told him? My mind was full of questions. But all that anxiety dissipated as soon as I saw him clearly. He was smiling and looked glad that I had come to visit. "Chrono. My boy, come in we were just about to eat." Father shouted. He motioned the guard that was accompanying him to open the gate. He then embraced me and started laughing. How did such an easy going guy end up with such a nasty wife. The queen was beside him and extended her arm to shake hands. I obliged even though we did not really like each other. I was welcomed inside and a seat was prepared for me at the dining table. "So how was your journey to the continent?" Father asked. I regaled him with the tales of me fighting in The Twenty One crowning competition. He was ecstatic and asked a lot of questions that I was eager to answer. We really had similar tastes. We talked for a few more hours until it was time to reveal why I was here."Chrono. I was told that there was a very important piece of information you wanted to share." Father asked. The atmosphere was now tense unlike earlier when it was jolly. It was only the two of us who were present at the table. The others had excused themselves. "Yes. As I was in the Vampire's domain, I saw something very frightening. A legendary beast that once roamed this planet twenty five millennia ago awakened." I said putting a pause. "We are close with the Emperor Dragon now so that will not be an issue. They can simply deal with it." Father added. "That is where the issue comes in. The beast in question is The Hydra. Also known as the Evil God. Long ago as the records of the dragons' state, an army of 6000 dragons failed to subdue the Evil God and were soundly defeated." I said. "6000 dragons failed to defeat one monster?" Father asked in astonishment. "The records are not clear whether The Hydra was alone or the Generals were present at the time." I added. "Generals? They have a military command structure?" Father asked. "Something like that. They are three in total. A Giant Sea serpent that rules over the seas. Records say that its breath is poisonous and its gaze can cause petrification. Next is a Titan with a humanoid form. However, it has four arms and six eyes. Records say that its strength is unmatched as it also commands an army of over a thousand titans. Last is the giant Spider. Little is known about it except that it uses its offspring's to gather information. It can lay millions of eggs at a time producing spiders the size of goats." I concluded. I could see father's face fill with horror. "Surely you must be exaggerating some of this." Father said. "No. in fact very few details are known about this monsters. What I have told you was only what felt believable to me. There are other abilities I was told about but I refused to believe that they were possible to accomplish." I answered. I then told him some few abilities like mind control that the Mudan's people alleged that the Giant Sea serpent had. The Titan had the ability to turn normal people into Titans but the process was still not clear. The Spider's offspring would capture a whole village and drag them back to the hideout and consume them. "Okay. Okay. What plans do you have to deal with it?" Father asked. "I do not have a solid plan. What I am hoping to do is hold a summit here with all the human leaders. The aim is to collect information and offer a unified approach." I said. We talked a little bit more about The Hydra where I disclosed that I fought with it but lost spectacularly. "I did not even have a chance. It has a very high magic resistance." I added. "That spell did not scratch it?" Father asked referring to The Angels Tear. "It did not even bother defending itself. I was that weak according to it." I said. We talked until the middle of the night where I left after promising to come the next day in the afternoon.I flew straight home to the original village. The town was still lively at this time. This was thanks to the milling and carriage business. I stopped by at Mr Duran, the blacksmith to say hello. "Chrono. My, you sure have grown up." He said chuckling. He would always enjoy me like this because I transformed my body to adult form. "I eat a lot of food. Of course I will grow up faster than the rest of the people." I replied with a smile. Mr. Duran filled me on how business was going. Apparently, our businesses were the backbone of this side of the country. A lot of visitors would flock to the village which had now grown to a town. We talked a lot more with him where I bragged and showed him my new weapon. "You made that with gnomish techniques?" Mr. Duran asked in shock. "Yes although the base material is Orin, I had to scour the ends of the continent to find enough of it." I said. I was not going to say I made the Orin because I would then have to make him some. I then showed him how it changed forms and even let him hold Jenga when it was a spear. "Very light yet very strong and sturdy." He said after punching a hole through a block of metal that lay on the ground. "Seriously. You can't start by greeting your own mother?" I heard a voice. I saw a lady carrying a lantern at the workshop. "Mother. I thought you were a sleep." I said as I hugged her. We went inside where she fed me the remainder of the food despite insisting that I was full. We talked for a few minutes then everyone retired to bed. The next morning I explained to mother why I was here. "You want to meet with all the Talons and leaders? Then this creature you speak of must be very deadly in deed." Mother added. "Yes it is very troublesome in deed." I answered. I sent out various letters to all the Talons and leaders urging them to come to the capital and discuss very serious matters. It was going to take at least two days before the planned summit could be held. I decided to relax a little until then.I got to meet my aunts and my pets. Alpha the fox puppy, was in good condition. I had used the same technique of rebuilding its structure and granted it the light attribute. It was now possible for it to use light and lightning magic. A major change also resulted from this, it acquired the ability to communicate. Although its speech was not clear, it was possible to understand what it was saying. I also granted Pitch, the talking crow fire magic a few months back. They were now keeping mother company every time I was gone. Mother absolutely adored those two animals, she would spoil them with foods and other treats. I went and spent time with them a little. "How are you guys doing?" I asked. "Good." Answered Pitch. "I am lonely master. Especially when left alone?" Alpha said as Pitch glared at him menacingly. Yes Alpha was originally from the great forest. Perhaps I could take him with me to find a companion. "Okay, next time I will take you to look for your family. How is your magic training coming along?" I asked. Pitch was now a very large bad about I meter in height with almost triple the wind span by now. It was over a year ago after I tamed them and a few months later evolved them. I was sure they were more than capable of protecting mother which was the primary reason I moved them here. "We spar a lot. We have grown stronger look." Pitch said. Wow she could now shoot a fire attack with the same intensity as Napalm bomb from the fire phoenix. "I also shoot light. Look." Alpha said not wanting to be outdone by pitch. Various light beams surrounded him and then he immediately shot them at the sky. "You guys are very impressive. How about we go to the forest and train to the best of our abilities?" I asked. The training ground here was very small and I could tell that they were not using their full strength due to fear of the destruction they could cause. "Yes" they all shouted in unison. They probably also wanted to find out the limits of their strength for the first time. I levitated the both of them, placed barriers around the body and flew towards the crater that I had made. "Master, how can you fly so fast without wings?" Pitch asked. Yes this is probably the first time they have seen me fly. Could I teach them this technique? I think they are strong enough. Alpha's mana reserves are at 32,000 while those of Pitch are at 43,000. They are even more powerful than the Talons but granted that I did evolve them and spent a lot of time and energy infusing their new bodies with the various attributes. It took less than twenty seconds to infuse the dragons with the various attributes but I took over twenty minutes with these two. They are both at their maximum level of strength and cannot grow any farther. The crater was now filled with grass and shrubs. It was the most appropriate training ground. "Guys. Attack me with all your strength." I said. They did not hesitate perhaps because they knew that I was very powerful. Alpha rained continuous volleys of light beams from the sky while using lightning attacks at me. Very effective techniques. Pitch conducted air raids and dropped fire attacks while remaining out of range. It was wonderful to see their growth. Of course none of the attacks were strong enough to hurt me. I had left a barrier all over my body. "Alpha work on your accuracy. Currently more than half of the attacks are missing. Pitch your speed is too low and the attacks are monotonous. Try something new." I said. We stayed there for a few hours and I could see some growth. Pitch at first relied on breath attacks but after experimenting, it was now possible for him to use his wings to throw fire attacks in any direction at an instant. Alphas attacks were now more accurate with at least 70% of them hitting their targets. If I could train these guys for a week at this intensity, they would grow to be very strong. I carried them back home in the evening. They were very exhausted yet pleased. I would describe the feeling as scratching an itch that has been bothering for a long time. We landed and they immediately went back to their own homes. Alpha had a large kennel to support his needs while Pitch had a similar structure but raised above the ground. I assumed that they went to sleep. The next day's training was going to be more intense was what I told them. They were very excited to hear that. They had hunted a wild deer earlier in the forest hence they were not hungry. It was a spectacle to watch. Alpha shot at the prey's legs while pitch came and swooped the animal off its feet and carried it to the crater. There, we roasted the meat with my magic because Pitch did not have effective fire control yet. We finished the whole animal the three of us. Those guys ate most of it anyway. "Master. Would you allow us to come and hunt on our own?" Pitch asked. "I have no problem but you have to train more first. Right now you could be defeated by most monsters here." I said. They seem to like hunting for their food. Maybe if I taught them flight magic they could do so. After all, it is several kilometers from the village to here. Thus the day ended like that. I received confirmation that various dignitaries would come for the major meeting. "Oh no. I forgot to meet with father yesterday." I shouted out loud. I immediately left and flew to the capital. "What happened? I waited for you yesterday but you did not show up." Father asked. "I got busy that it slipped my mind." I answered remorsefully. Please don't ask busy doing what. Please. Please. "Okay, now that you are here, I want to ask you something. Do you think we in this Island have a chance?" Father asked. I could see that this question weighed heavily in his heart. "I believe the three generals will consider this Island insignificant. They will thus send their minions here so we will be dealing with thousands of spiders the size of goats as the maximum level of threat." I said. "But the dragons are also part of this island. They may decide to strike here first with all their force." Father answered. I had overlooked this fact. Yes father was correct in his assessment. I was lost in deep thought. "That is the most likely scenario. You are likely correct." I said. "Tomorrows summit will be very important. If this is the case then we need a unified front." Father stated.
