Chapter 16 - The Treasure in the Dark forest

Anna already knew the location of the divine beast egg, so she slashed through the void and created a space tunnel directly to its underground location.

"Wait, Anna! Let's do this first," Tania stopped her before entering the tunnel and conjured a veil of darkness that was transparent in nature. Anna understood Tania's intention; with this veil, no one could spy on them using secret divination techniques or any detection methods. "Let's go."

They entered the space tunnel and teleported to the underground chamber in a flash. What came into view was a hall large enough to contain a football field. In the center of the hall lay the divine beast egg, surrounded by powerful beasts of the dark forest, all of whom cowered in fear and made way for the two primordial beings.

As Anna approached the egg, she noticed it was white with black stripes, indicating it belonged to the divine beast white tiger. The white tiger clan was not part of the four divine beast clans, having been massacred by various organizations in the immortal world, leaving very few white tigers remaining. The egg was constantly absorbing the spiritual energy in the underground hall, but it was insufficient for it to fully break free. It looked malnourished.

"To think the beast is a white tiger. Where did they get this egg? Or was it simply here from the start?" Anna asked Tania, who was also observing the egg.

"I believe it has been here all along. The Heavenly Dao was only sensing that a divine beast was present. Didn't you notice the advanced isolation array? It ensures that only the spiritual beasts here can detect the egg's will and protect it. The Heavenly Dao likely doesn't know it's a white tiger. Perhaps they sensed their doom and left an offspring here to continue the clan," Tania explained, having investigated the white tiger clan's situation thoroughly.

"So, what do you want to do about it?" Anna inquired, knowing that this beast would likely have formed a contract with Tania's previous incarnation, linking them together.

"Of course, we will keep it as our pet. The organizations that massacred the white tiger clan were mainly instigated by the same organization as the Heavenly Dao, which we will surely destroy in the future. This beast can also avenge its clan," Tania said, a cold smile spreading across her face as she spoke of the organization. "Let it be born on its own; it will be beneficial for it. We can nourish its body after it hatches." Tania then addressed the egg directly, "Hey, you can understand me, right? Just take your time and don't worry about any dangers. You are our pet now, so no one can harm you." Before exiting, she created a simple barrier around the egg, and then they both left the underground hall, deciding to travel on foot through the forest, as Anna thought it would be more fun and they would find interesting people along the way.

As they walked toward the forest's edge, heading toward the city, Just as Anna was getting bored her predictions really come as Tania alerted her that the crown prince of the dragon kingdom and his party were several miles away. Anna detected them too; among the group was Tania's mortal self's stepsister, who was surprisingly beautiful, along with several others. Their cultivation levels ranged from Qi Condensation Realm level 8 to level 12, and there were also three Foundation Establishment cultivators. They were currently setting up camp. But she found something more.

"Why are there so many cultivator groups like this one traveling in the same direction? Did we miss something? It's as if every cultivator from the Dragon Kingdom is here. But I scanned the entire dark forest with my soul sense, and there are no treasures in that direction," Anna remarked, scanning the area again for confirmation but finding nothing.

Tania looked at Anna's face seriously for a few seconds, prompting Anna to ask, "What happened? Is there something on my face?" seeing that anna was really serious, Tania replied, "Anna, they are low-level cultivators, so what they see as treasure may not be a treasure for you." Then Tania also looked embarrassed and added, "Well, even I didn't find anything interesting in that direction."

Tania, born in the immortal world, and in one of the most powerful clan, had access to the most precious resources, while Anna was even more clueless as she had been confined to a dungeon until now. Although there were herbs in the spiritual medicine garden, they thrived in rich spiritual energy and were really aged and ancient, spiritual energy is really scarce on this continent.

"Why don't we eavesdrop on the crown prince's group? It's not like they can detect us, and we can also find out about your mortal self's situation," Anna suggested.

Tania agreed, and they traveled through the void to get closer to the group. Suddenly, Anna asked, "Do you want to kill them here in the forest?" knowing Tania's enmity with them.

"Didn't you say to follow your plan in dealing with them? And It wouldn't be any fun to kill them directly," Tania replied, a playful smile on her face, mirroring Anna's excitement as if she found a toy to play with. And Anna really liked that smile.

"Does this crown prince have a stepbrother or sister? Maybe we can use them," Anna proposed, recalling tips from a book on how to dismantle a ruling family of some place.

"He has nine brothers and three sisters, from which all sisters and 7 brothers are from the king's concubines. After the crown prince, the second prince is the most powerful. Their group is also here," Tania explained, pointing in the direction of the group.

"Okay, we'll observe him for now. Let's hear what treasure they are searching for," Anna decided, and they stood in the void, listening to the conversation between the prince and Tania's stepsister.

"Your Highness, a lot of people are coming. Can we snatch that thing from so many?" Lami, Tania's sister, asked sweetly with concern.

"It's alright. I'll see who dares to take a treasure in front of me," the crown prince replied proudly, trying to impress Lami. His confidence stemmed from the three initial-stage Foundation Building cultivators his father had lent him.

"Wow, Your Highness, you're really powerful! With such confidence, we will surely find it," Lami responded, looking at the crown prince with admiration, which greatly pleased him.

"Don't worry, Lami. When I get that thing, I'll ask the palace alchemist to make a pill for you so you can advance to the next realm easily," the crown prince promised, gazing at Lami lovingly. As this was his purpose to bring this girl here. To make Lami marry his as soon as possible so that he can have the general's powerful army at his back. Then nobody can oppose his right to the throne.

"Your Highness, how can you do that? How can Lami be worthy of such a precious pill?" Lami replied, blushing while looking down, though her face was full of disdain for him when he couldn't see.

"How can you not be worthy when you are the only person I love the most?" the crown prince said, letting out a hearty laugh at Lami's blushing face.

"But is she really dead, Your Highness?" Lami asked in a dark and low voice.

The crown prince's laughter faded, and he replied disdainfully, "How can a person without cultivation survive in the dark forest?"

"But the thugs we sent didn't come back," Lami said, her voice filled with worry. She had a bad feeling about it. But then she felt confident in dealing with her if Tania returned, especially with the support of that person. With the help from that person she will become a phoenix and soar to the heaven how cam she be confined in a small kingdom in some corner of the world.

This was why she was dissatisfied with the crown prince of a small kingdom. Lami looked proudly at the jade pendant she wore, but her expression quickly changed as the crown prince spoke again.

"Oh, don't worry. Maybe those thugs died in the forest," he said nonchalantly.

"Yes, Your Highness," Lami replied, though she was dissatisfied with his attitude. She answered obediently. If it weren't for the herb location that she couldn't access alone, she would never have listened to him. Once she became more powerful, she would show him who was in charge.

Anna felt goosebumps listening to their conversation, especially after hearing Tania's stepsister's sweet voice and the crown prince's declarations of love. How could they speak like this when both knew they were pretending to be in love? Their entire conversation had not even mentioned the treasure they were seeking. But she guessed It will be something to increase cultivation.

Anna glanced at Tania, who was also watching the scene unfold. When she saw that Tania was unaffected, she continued to listen.

Tania, noticing Anna's concern, said, "Don't worry. This mortal life was a very small part compared to my previous life, so it can't affect me. I just have to settle the karma here, that's all."

"It seems Lami doesn't like this idiot crown prince as much as we thought," Anna observed, having clearly noticed Lami's disdain for him.

"No, Anna, look closely. There is something wrong with Lami. Although her previous love was fake, she genuinely wanted to marry him for power and become an empress. Now, however, she disdains it," Tania replied, her eyes glowing with blue flames as she noticed something.

Anna also let her primordial energy flow into her eyes, causing them to glow red. She noticed something too and began to laugh. "This world gets more fun every time! First, you were the female lead, then my intervention, your awakening, and now this! Hahaha!"

Tania smiled at the results. "The Heavenly Dao thought I was really dead, as he couldn't find this old man we have captured, so he did something like this."

"Hahaha! To think he would bestow his own luck upon this mortal to make her the new protagonist and give her the same pocket dimension with the soul of an old man. Oh, this is so cliché! And now Tania, your sister is the new female lead. After finding that pocket dimension, her confidence has soared, and she is dissatisfied with a crown prince of this small kingdom. Things are getting more and more interesting!" Anna exclaimed, She was really happy right now. Her plan to watch the live web novel drama can be continued now.

"Hey, Tania, we won't kill her immediately. We'll watch the whole show," Anna suggested.

Tania, understanding Anna's plan, was also looking forward to watching it with her. "Okay, I want to watch it too, but we should spice things up every now and then to keep it entertaining," Tania replied.

"Oh, you're right! And now we have the perfect people for it. My clan's disciples stationed in the Dragon Kingdom are also here. Let's go meet them!" Anna said cheerfully.
