Chapter 1 - "I only said what I felt"

Hello, I'm Ilias Derdaki, and I'm 20 years old. I was born in the small town of Ahfir, a place that holds a special meaning in my heart. Although I haven't lived many years yet, I've had experiences that have allowed me to understand life more deeply.

One of the key lessons I've learned is that life is not just about achievements or failures; it's an ongoing journey of learning. Knowledge is not confined to what you are capable of doing. Of course, when you excel at something, you should be proud of it, but more importantly, you should be open to learning from others. There are always people who possess skills and abilities that we may not have, and by learning from them, we grow and evolve. It's not a sign of weakness to admit that you don't know something; in fact, it's a strength to be proud of your ability to learn. For instance, you may encounter someone who has an incredible ability to face challenges with resilience, while you may struggle to handle them in the same way. This doesn't make you less capable; it simply gives you an opportunity to learn and improve.

Through my work with the Moroccan Red Crescent and the German Red Cross, I've gained a new perspective on life. Helping others isn't just something I do; it's a part of who I am. Whenever I can assist someone in need, I feel like I'm contributing to something greater, making a real difference in someone's life. Every time I see a smile on the face of someone I've helped, I experience a joy that words cannot describe. This humanitarian work has taught me that no matter how tough life can be, we can always choose to be kind. The true strength of a person shines when times are hard, yet they still choose to be compassionate and helpful.

Even in the harshest moments, I believe that a person with a big heart, who loves helping others, can overcome any challenge. There may be days when we feel defeated, when we lose people we care about, or when we face betrayal, but in the end, true strength lies in staying true to our values and maintaining our kindness.

As for love, I don't see it as something negative, as some might think. In fact, I believe love is real and beautiful, but only with the right person. The right person shares your values and goals and stands by your side through difficult times. Love is not just about romantic feelings; it's a partnership built on mutual support and understanding. I may not have found this ideal person yet, but I'm confident that I will one day. Until then, I will focus on becoming the person worthy of that love. Love is not about waiting for someone else to come along; it's about improving yourself to be the best version of yourself, for both yourself and the one you will love.

In the end, life is just a collection of years we live, but what makes these years meaningful is what we do with them. You will experience happy moments, and you will go through painful ones. You will lose people, love others, and face challenges, but the most important thing is to ask yourself before every decision: "Will I regret this after I'm gone?" Because when we leave this world, what remains is the impact we had on others and the legacy we left behind. The more you strive to be a better person, spreading kindness and love, the more lasting your influence will be.
