The year is 2243. And as one would expect, the world has advanced tremendously. Scientists throughout the globe have expended a lot of the planet's resources in order to make a breakthrough with Project Paramount. The details of the projects are irrelevant as only 3 people who were there, working on the project, from the very start have all the details. But I suppose a summary of the project would be that the world now is no longer under the influence of AAI or Advanced Artificial Intelligence. As the name suggests, AAI was a superior version of AI which had the ability to break down Novel concepts down to its very core and figure out all the theoretical and Applicative uses of the concept instantly. And as one would expect, Their computational power was their most dangerous property. Combined with efficient application of Knowledge, The world from 2210 onwards developed massively.
"But, Wouldn't the machines try to overtake us as shown in various Sci-Fi works of fiction?"
"That's a good question or would have been if our world was a kind place. I would bet that you didn't know that Project Paramount wasn't the project's initial name."
"If you are telling the truth, then You would be right. I didn't know that as a matter of fact. But can you tell me how humanity was able to survive against AAI machines and the reason behind their evolution"
"Well, I suppose that's a story for another day. You even knowing that secret is more than enough to compensate for your great achievement. Though you need to be careful and carry out the plans as instructed and not deviate from them"
"I'll be more careful from now on."
"That will be all. Just be careful to cover your tracks. Even though you have been working for 9 years, you are still far from perfection like the Vanguard would suggest."
"Anyone in comparison to you would be imperfect sir. Though, I would like to ask for something, If I may.
"Speak, this will likely be your first and last time."
"May I know your name?"
"My name is irrelevant. Though I suppose you could refer to me as Mr.K. That's the most you'll be awarded with on this blissful day."
With that, Mr. K departs and disappears into the ever growing darkness of his office.
"Sigh, I guess that's the most I'll get out of the most anonymous leader in the world. I did play with my luck though. I was not expecting Mr. K to give me this much information."
With that, I leave the office and depart from the building and make my way towards my rest shelter.
Though it's still a mystery, I don't know when we evolved on such a level. Legend has it that Humans evolved massively from 2224-2229. We no Longer require sleep and our capabilities evolved to be greater than AAIs. Though it was only 20 years ago, there remains no evidence of any sort of evolution happening in those years. I suppose the best way to explain it would be to say that Humanity went into a sort of hibernation for 5 years and somehow woke up to be the most evolved species in the universe.
"The rest shelter is only 100m away from here. The weather seems to be darker than usual. Sigh, At Least I'll have more information to consume today. These Rest shelters provide us with information which are regulated by Vanguard. Who or What Vanguard is still remains a mystery to this day but, I suppose it'll be solved when the day arrives. Or whatever Mr.K was talking about. Mr.K is a very secretive individual. Who has never shown himself to anyone. He took over the leadership of Unit-A 15 years ago and has been controlling the organization ever since. No leader has even come close to replicating that result. Leaders of other units kept on changing but that wasn't the case for Mr.K."
After walking for a while, I take a right turn and see myself facing the Rest shelter. The rest shelter was an Incredibly long facility. If we were to compare the size of a rest shelter with a football stadium. One would require 3 Football stadiums to match the size of one Rest shelter. A rest shelter provides the people present in the vicinity with Food,Water and most of all, Information.
"For some reason, I feel weird entering the rest shelter today. It feels like someone's watching me without being present there. I suppose this element of Anxiety will accompany me for a while. Meeting with Mr.K does that huh."
With a bit of discomfort, I make my way towards the 4th floor of the Rest Center. The rest center had 5 floors and each floor showed the ranks and abilities of people. It was a ranked system where the worth of an individual was measured. The people at the very top of a rest center were the admins controlling and monitoring the place. Naturally, The 5th floor was occupied because of this. The 4th floor was the floor where the pinnacle of a particular rest center was kept. The Luxury of the 4th Floor was present when we compared it to other floors. I use the elevator to make my way towards the 4th floor and make my way towards my room.
"It's so quiet and peaceful today. I like it."
The surroundings were really quiet. My single room was larger than the entire reception where most people resided. It was a very large room and the news throughout the unit was spread instantly to the people with the highest evaluation out of the bunch. After the Evolution, Every country in the world came together to form a unit. There are 7 units like the continents. A leader of Each Unit is chosen by the ideals and cultures that Unit abides by. Unit 1-A is the largest, most powerful and wealthiest unit in the world. Mr.K was a major player behind this. He orchestrated and planned events which allowed us to be where we are today.
However, Right as I went slightly deeper to my room. I see red Lights flashing across the entire room. And there was all but a single message appearing in front of my eyes. And the message said: "The leader of Unit 1-A has been assassinated!"
