Lyse woke up with a start, her head pounding. She looked around and realized that she was in Levi's room, on his bed, the soft sheets enveloping her in a comforting warmth. A wave of confusion washed over her as she tried to piece together the events of the previous day and how she ended up in his bed.
Then, the memory of the drugged drink, the dizzying sensation, and the terrifying encounter with Jean-Pierre flooded her mind. A wave of shame and disgust washed over her. She had been vulnerable, helpless and almost taken advantage of by a man without scruples.
Levi, sensing her distress, approached the bed. "You are awake," he said, his voice gentle. "How are you feeling?"
Lyse's eyes welled up with tears and Levi sat on the edge of the bed and pulled her into his arms, keeping her in his comforting hold while she cried. "I... I don't know," she stammered. "What happened to me?"
