Lyse walked past Brooke who was now on her knees and trying uselessly to salvage the thin strips of paper. Those strips of paper which represented years and years of painstaking hardwork that Lyse had put in but she was not too worried about the loss after all she still had her skills and experience.
She had just ruined her work, lost her job, was broke and had no other prospects lined up but there was a huge grin on her face. Seeing the despair of Brooke's face had been worth every single thing, she would love to see how she would do her job now.
Her colleagues watched with trepidation as Lyse walked past them with a crazy grin and they wondered if she had finally broken down.
As she headed out the door someone grabbed her and pulled her into a hidden corner of the hallway.
"What is wrong with you?" Lyse snapped and angrily pulled her hand out of Brandon's hold.
"You can't leave." He said.
"Says who?" Lyse sneered and when he tried to hold her again she pushed him again. "If you touch me one more time I will scream and you will have some explaining for your future wife." She warned.
"I miss you Lyse, don't you miss me?" He asked, his eyes pitiful.
Lyse's reaction had shocked him, he had expected her to come crying for him to take her back. He would not have because even though he really liked her, his mother did not. But he would have taken advantage of her and gotten everything he wanted from her before pushing her away.
But to his surprise she did not seem the slightest bit concerned and it led him to worry that she had never loved him, maybe his mother had been right about her being a gold digger.
"Don't patronize me Brandon, I am not as stupid as your fiancée."
Brandon fumed at her reply and snapped, "You have always been a frigid bitch, it is no wonder why I went for your sister instead." Brandon hissed angrily.
It felt like a hand grabbed Lyse's heart tight but she smiled wistfully, it was a good thing that the wedding had not held because it was obvious that Brandon was not worthy of her love.
"I mean, we are in the 21st century, what twenty seven year old is still a virgin if not a sanctimonious bitch like yourself. You are going to die an old maid." He continued.
"I would rather be a fridid bitch and die that way than be a weakling who needs mommy to come rescue me." She mocked and turned to leave then Brandon grabbed her and forcefully kissed her.
Lyse pushed him back and in one fluid motion slapped him hard on his face.
"You can go tell mommy that I slapped you, then sue me." She hissed and walked away.
Brandon rubbed his smarting cheek while watching as Lyse confidently swayed out of his sight.
"Where is she?" Brooke asked breathlessly coming to a stop by his side, her voice sounding like she was on the verge of tears. "you have to stop her, look at what she's done."
Brandon kept staring in the direction that Lyse had gone and did not pay Brooke any attention and that angered her.
"Brandon!" She exclaimed as she stomped her feet childishly, "Lyse destroyed all of the illustrations. Look, it's all in pieces."
He glanced at the pieces of paper in her hand and turned his face away then spoke gruffly.
"Then I guess you better get to work, she has resigned and there is nothing to be done. you are the youngest awarded designer so this should be a piece of cake for you."
He turned away and walked towards the elevator and she reluctantly followed him. She knew that he had come across Lyse and they must have had an altercation that had him acting so angry.
Earlier he had been affectionate and gentle with her and she had been glad that Lyse had witnessed that but now that Lyse was gone it seemed that he did not care about continuing with it. That Lyse was always causing problems for her.

Levi sighed as he looked through the file that had been placed on his desk that morning, he did not understand how he could get himself involved in a mess such as this.
He had been in messy situations, make no mistake but this one had to take the cake. How had he ended up married to the woman that his son was supposed to marry? And on that same day too.
He chuckled at his stupidity and frowned. That girl was even younger than Brandon, how had he gotten himself in this?
Yeah, alcohol and the harpy that he had made the mistake of almost marrying once before had driven him to the brink but he should know better.
He had read everything about the girl that Ethan had collected and the girl, Lyse seemed like a regular girl who had the misfortune of not being good enough for Sutton Marlowe's little boy.
At some point he wondered if Lyse knew that he was Brandon's father and had placed herself in his way so that she could marry him as a revenge plot but that did not seem plausible.
Not a lot of people knew that he had a son and the only person that could have set up the sequence of events that happened was the hand of god and he was sure that Lyse did not have those kinds of connections.
Plus the girl had not even called him or come looking for him so it was either she did not know that she was married to him or she was waiting to put him on his toes so that she could get a large payout.
He picked up their marriage certificate and stared at it. He had asked Ethan to send out a tail on her, he wanted to know every single thing she did before he could make his move. He could not do that without knowing exactly what he was dealing with.
*knock knock*
"There is something that I think you would like to see, sir." Ethan came into the office.
