Lyse gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. Murder? Levi? The word hung in the air, heavy and chilling.
Chris's face paled. "Brett? That's…that's impossible," he stammered.
"I'm afraid it's not." Officer Davies said. "Mr. Van Doren is a suspect in the murder of Brett Faulkner."
Lyse's mind was reeling. Brett? She could not believe that Levi was incapable of such a thing. She knew that there was no love lost between the two brothers, but Levi would not stoop to that level.
"And that is not all," Officer Davies continued, his gaze shifting to Lyse. "Mr. Van Doren is also being investigated in connection with the death of Sutton Marlowe."
Lyse's breath hitched. Sutton?
"Sutton?" Chris asked, his voice barely a whisper. "But Levi had been cleared in that case, what is the point of accusing him?"
Officer Davies shrugged. "The investigation is ongoing, We are exploring all possibilities."
