Upon arrival at the police station, Yva found the intern alone, in her usual position, using the information desk as a makeshift bed with her hands serving as a pillow. Despite the bustling sounds of trucks, noisy sellers, and busy passersby, she seemed comfortably asleep. Yva's creaking entry through the blue gate failed to disturb the intern, who greeted her with droopy eyes and a slow attempt to stand. Yva, aware of the intern's condition, advised her to remain seated. Cautionary yet hopeful, Yva observed the intern closely but found nothing out of the ordinary apart from her drowsiness.
As they conversed, the intern struggled to keep her eyes open, prompting Yva to ask questions rapidly in a race against her impending slumber. Yva left her in the same position she had found her in, finding a suitable place for her to wait for her supervisor and Gamaliel.
Yohan's morning routine was disrupted by the unusual events of the previous night and a frightening experience that made him late for work. Despite being aware of his tardiness, he indulged in speeding to release his pent-up adrenaline. However, this reckless behavior was curbed when he encountered a checkpoint ahead. The checkpoint forced him to slow down, diffusing his heightened adrenaline. As he reached Abatan, he encountered some traffic, which he initially believed would calm his racing heart. However, as the traffic halted near the police station, he spotted Yva conversing with an officer while holding a cup of coffee. Startled, he felt as though Yva's gaze was fixed directly on him, although his helmet and covered face should have concealed his identity. Despite the slow-moving traffic, he resisted the urge to look back at Yva until he finally arrived at the municipal office.
He felt a sense of relief, but it was short-lived because he was certain that his face was not visible, yet his motorcycle revealed his identity. Yva had seen it multiple times and she knew the owner. Yohan made it to their office and managed to clock in at 8:20, hoping he wasn't too late. Finding the office locked, he panicked and checked his phone for any missed calls, text messages, or notices on the door, but found none. He then called Sir Marcelo for help and was informed that Sir Marcelo was in a last-minute meeting and advised him to wait for the staff member with the key.
Yva had been conversing with an officer who noticed her observing the intern. They both decided to either check on the intern's well-being or observe her behavior while enjoying their coffee outside. Later, she found herself in the company of officers expressing concern for Ms. Charity, the intern. Some officers accompanying her outside suspected that the intern was simply sleep-deprived, while others speculated that it might be related to their past tree-planting activity. Yva positioned herself as a concerned individual, as she had noticed Charity appearing sleepy during their last two meetings.
She chose not to disclose what she knew about the intern's issue, as it was evident that not everyone was open to the idea of unseen forces. She later learned that they had given Charity time off to rest, but she declined, insisting that she had adequate sleep. However, whenever she attempted to do something or remained still for three minutes, her energy would rapidly deplete. She had been struggling for days, and it was taking a toll on her, with the officers expressing concern, yet she refused to take a leave. They even offered her the spare room at the station for a nap, but she declined, claiming that her body would jolt her awake if she tried to lie down.
The intern had woken up a few times but remained groggy, with her eyes shutting after a few minutes despite the chaos around her. Thanks to their decision to chat outside, the officers managed to apprehend some riders who had violated regulations, such as lacking driving licenses, plate numbers, and helmets. Among the riders, she recognized someone despite their face being covered by a helmet. Yva immediately knew who it was from the motorcycle alone, but she deliberately looked away, understanding the owner's desire to avoid her at all costs. Yva waved at Gamaliel, who was frantically searching for her.
She was easily distinguishable because she was not in uniform. Gamaliel greeted her companions but declined their offer of a cup of coffee because Sir Marcelo had called Yva and requested a meeting due to a call from Charity's supervisor. Before leaving, Yva warned the officers not to startle Charity or take any action that might wake her up.
Yohan's colleague arrived after some minutes. He was apologetic so Yohan had told him that he waited not too long. They immediately started their work and often shared some glances at each other because they had never been alone together. He was glad his workmate did reach out to him as a brother and summarize some of the memorable events that happened in their office before his arrival.
Yohan found out that Melchor his workmate, had been working for the same position for the past seven years. He admired him for that but felt sorry at the same time because he would always be in that position for the coming years. Melchor's lack of higher education achievement settled him in that position and that would be Yohan's fate too if he wished to continue his internship in a profession.
Yohan had just stepped into his first-year level in college and then continued his education in life not at a university but at a market where he used to package, carry, and deliver vegetables. He thought he would be contented with that kind of job. But he was mistaken as he had only had to think of himself but he had to include his family: his mother, his younger sister, and his younger brother in his planning. Luckily he was surrounded by people who had the same goal as him, and his workmates at the market convinced him to apply for Japan who were currently hiring.
