After the call, Amber placed her phone on the table as she held her head tears flowing freely from her eyes.
She really tried, she didn't want them to find out about this project, but she failed to figure out they would have other spies in the company.
"I'm sorry." Amber said sniffing, she really didn't want to do this, she loved this job, she often helped with designing new jewels and Dante always respected her inputs on things.
Most of all, she loved Dante.
But these were her parents after all, after everything happens outside, the only place she can return to is her home, even though her parents are not the best, they were still her parents after all.
Besides, they promised to acknowledge her and bring her into the company as the prospective CEO if she does this well.
Biting her lips, Amber weighed the pro's and con's of the situation, no matter how much her heart wanted her to tell Dante the truth, her brain told her otherwise.
Her thoughts were soon interrupted by the intercom ringing causing her to jerk before turning to look at the device her expression changing to a calm one.
"Yes." Amber replied in a slightly hoarse voice, pressing the green button.
"Hey Amber, could you kindly bring the documents I requested for earlier, I need it sooner than I expected."
Hearing Dante's voice, Amber choked on her sobs.
"Alright sir." She struggled to say, he truly saw her as a friend, yet here she is preparing to backstab him.
Silence followed her words, and just when he was about to let go of the button his concerned voice filtered through.
"Are you okay?" He asked with sincere concern.
"I'm fine, thank you sir, I'll bring the documents in now." Amber said and immediately letting go off the green button.
It might seem she's being overly emotional, but it's frustrating, the guilt of betraying somebody, especially if it's someone you love.
Dante stared at the intercom biting his lips a bit as his brows furrowed confused.
"She sounds like she has been crying." He stated tilting his head to the side as he tried hard to think, she left his office okay, why was she crying now?
Was it because of him?
Running his hand through his hair, Dante tried to make it make sense.
Honestly, he didn't need those documents, he just wanted to see her, God knows it was tearing him apart to wait until when everything is finalized before having her.
He can't get enough of her, her voice, her alluring eyes and her wondrous scent.
Taking in a deep breath, Dante looked at the tent in his trousers with a frown.
He wasn't one to get moved easily with bodily desires, guess she has control over his mind and body as well.
The moment a knock jolted him out of his dirty thoughts, Dante held on to the table and dragged himself towards it to hide his boner.
"Come in." He answered, his gaze softening a bit when he saw it was Amber.
Wait, thinking back to his straining boner, Dante wondered if her being here is good or bad?
"I brought the document's sir." Amber said standing still expecting Dante to signal her over but insisted he squinted his eyes at her.
Here we go, Amber said to herself, she was used to this habit of his already.
When he was angry or displeased at something, instead of communicating, her dear boss would first glare at it through his glasses making one feel like their whole life is laid bare before him.
That was his ace as a CEO because aside from that and the smart brain of his, Dante is mostly a goofball, well around her at least.
"Something is bothering you." He pointed out immediately causing Amber's grip on the documents to tighten.
"You're mistaken, I'm fine, sir." Amber stated trying to maintain her poker face.
"Your lipstick were perfectly applied, but now it looks like some parts are off and looks smudged."
"Your Mascara too, your voice is hoarse, and your face is puffy, you've been crying."
Amber felt like she had been stripped naked in front of him, couldn't he just ignore it all? Why did he have to point it out?
"I'm fine." Amber replied in a cold voice, "My makeup was fading, so I reapplied it as for my voice I think I'm coming down with a cold, anything else you need to know sir?" She asked with emphasis on the sir.
"A cold?" Dante sprang up from his chair, immediately going over to her side, "You should take the remaining day off to rest, and how many times have I told you not to call me sir." He scolded collecting the documents and tossing it on a side table before forcing Amber to sit on the couch.
Sitting down beside her, Dante placed the back of his hand on her head then placed it on his.
"Your temperature seem normal, what could be wrong?" He muttered to himself.
"Maybe I should call a doctor." He said turning to look at Amber to see her tear filled eyes staring at him with so much pain and sorrow.
"Are you feeling pains anywhere?" He asked, "I'll call the doctor now, hang in there." He added whipping his phone out immediately but just as he was dialing the number, Amber held his hands shaking her head indicating no, as her tear dropped unto his lap.
"Why do you care so much?!" She yelled with a sob, he is making it difficult for her, not after all she's done.
Dante sighed and turned to look at her with a soft smile.
"I was planning to tell you this at the dinner, but I can't wait any longer, it's killing me." He said holding her face with his two hands and wiping her tears with his thumbs.
Amber felt her heart beat ridiculously as she stared into his eyes, with her eyes wide as saucers.
"I love you." Dante confessed finally lifting the weight of his chest.
"I love you, I love you, I love you Amber Talesman." He repeated over and over again with a smile on his face.
Amber stared at him unable to utter a word, she is a despicable person being glad presently, not after what she's done.
Just before she could say a word, Dante smashed his lips on hers and she closed her eyes letting the moment take her, as a tear dropped from her eyebrows touching his cheeks.
