As they got down from the car, Amber's phone rang causing Dante to cast a cold gaze at her as she hurriedly took out the phone.
Turned out it was her mother, "please sir, give me a moment." She said taking permission from Dante and without waiting for his response, went over to the side to pick up the call.
"The interviewer said Dante asked for your information and that you've been hired." Her mother's voice boomed at the moment Amber picked the call.
"I-" "Don't even try to deny it." Her mother, Rose, cut her off before she could even speak.
"Don't even try to deny it, I saw you just alight from the car with him, why are you both together and what's his aim in the hotel?" Rose inquired with curiosity.
She and her husband had been here with the hopes to cross path with a particular client they've been vying for when she spotted Amber coming down from Dante's car with Dante.
Fearing that Amber might have thrown them under the bus, Rose hurriedly called her feeling anxious.
"He brought me here for a meeting." Ariel replied softly, trying to maintain her composure, she didn't know the man, but it felt bad saying things like this.
"Okay, splendid." Rose eyes had a special glint in it after what Amber said a smile forming on her face as she had an idea.
"Go quickly to the meeting but don't cut the call, just make sure I'll be able to hear whatever they say."Rose instructed.
If her guess was right, then Dante was probably meeting with the client they've been chasing for months now.
If they can find out what Rivera has to offer and offer an even better deal then they will bag the contract.
"But-" Amber tried to argue when Rose immediately cut her off.
"Don't try to fight it and do as I say." She said irritated cutting the call immediately.
Amber stared at her phone as a fresh feeling of sadness overwhelmed her, throughout her mother didn't even bother about what she felt and was only fixated on her doing the job.
The moment Rose cut the call she turned to Thompson and narrated everything to him after which he gave full go ahead of the plan, and then they went to book a nearby room while Rose waited patiently for Amber's call.
Amber stood in a spot for a while attempting to gather herself together, she should be used to her parents mannerisms by now, even though it still hurts every time it happens.
"The hell?" Amber looked around with confusion to see that neither Dante nor the car were there anymore.
Did he happen to ditch her? What if he had seen through her plan right away and just wanted to toy with her.
Seething in anger, Amber was prepared to leave when the driver came out of nowhere.
"Sir is waiting for you in the lobby." He said softly before disappearing to God knows where without even waiting for a response.
Relief coursed through Amber as she walked towards the hotel door pushing the door open.
She marveled at the intricate design of the place, it was quite ironic, despite being born to a family of wealth, she's seems to have never stepped foot in places like this.
Finally spotting Dante where he stood talking to someone, Amber scurried over to his side bowing her head in silence.
Her ears perked up hearing it was something related to the business deal so she sneakily brought out her phone, but before she could hit the dial button, Dante turned to her swiftly.
"You came here to work, you shouldn't keep your boss waiting, learn to always keep your phone on silent, is that how you'll be exiting meetings in future?" He queried with irritation all over his face.
Amber looked over his shoulder to see the person he had been talking to staring at her.
Dante had every right to scold her, he was her boss after all, but not in front of a stranger.
"Sorry sir." She apologized meekly while he just rolled his eyes and turned to look at the client, adjusting his glasses.
"I'm sorry for the delay, we may head upstairs now." It might seem Dante was speaking respectfully, but there's something about his tone that makes everything sound like a command or instruction, and even if it was, there was something about him that made it difficult to refuse.
As they headed to the room, Amber swiftly dialed Rose number, and when they settled down in the private room that looked more like a private space to eat, Amber placed her phone on the table while listening and jotting down everything being discussed.
In all honesty, forgoing her early impression of him, Dante made a pleasant businessman if she didn't know better he was surely getting this deal.
Looking at her phone laying on the table, a thought to cut the call crossed Amber's mind.
As someone who had worked hard until her hand aches and yet still not get the reward she wanted, she felt this is wrong, but such a powerful man isn't her right?
There's no way he can go through depression just because of one failed business deal, besides it's her family on the other side of the line.
She has a justified reason to do all these.
"We'll get back to you Mr. Rivera." The client said shaking hands with Dante who smiled with ease, in his mind the deal was already concluded, no way he could refuse such an offer.
"Also, you have quite the catch along with you, I hope to see you again, Miss-" The client trailed off hoping to get Amber's name.
"Amber." Amber replied softly and with a gentle nod, taking her phone off the table and cutting the call, she's sure her parents got what they needed.
Sighing, Amber stared at the wall, the days ahead will be painfully long, stealing a side glance at Dante, Amber concluded in her heart that even if it meant his wrath she will eventually tell him the truth.
