Tony had gathered some intel, too. There was an incident at a hospital in New Mexico — a patient who claimed to be "Thor" had broken out.
Most people would dismiss him as a lunatic or someone deep in a cosplay fantasy. But Tony had something others didn't — Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, and solid confirmation from Harvey. So, there was no doubt in his mind that the man claiming to be Thor was indeed the real deal.
"J.A.R.V.I.S., pull up the surveillance feeds from the area around that hospital in New Mexico. Let's see where Thor's run off to."
"And while you're at it, connect me to the nearest available phone or computer. I need to have a little chat with him."
Tony didn't waste any time giving J.A.R.V.I.S. orders. As long as Mjolnir was in his house, he couldn't relax. S.H.I.E.L.D. wouldn't dare storm into Stark Manor to retrieve it, but Thor? He was a god, after all.
Although Thor wasn't a true god by cosmic standards, his power was undeniable. The moment he found out Mjolnir's location, he could easily come crashing through Stark Manor's gates. Tony wanted this hot potato out of his hands as soon as possible.
"Right away, sir. I'm gathering the data now," J.A.R.V.I.S. responded, aware of Tony's urgency to get rid of Mjolnir. He combed through surveillance footage across New Mexico.
It didn't take long — within half an hour, J.A.R.V.I.S. had tracked Thor. However, Thor didn't have a phone on him. So, J.A.R.V.I.S. made contact with someone nearby.
In New Mexico, Jane had brought Thor back to her lab and given him some fresh clothes. Just as she was getting him settled, her phone rang. Before she could even see the number, the call connected automatically.
A man appeared on her screen, dressed in a red-and-gold suit of armor, with a golden mask covering his face.
"Iron Man? Tony Stark?" Jane blurted out in disbelief.
Even though she lived in New Mexico and far from New York, Tony Stark's name was legendary. The world knew him as Iron Man, the genius billionaire who, over a year ago, had donned his high-tech suit to fight terrorists and save lives.
He hadn't been in the spotlight much in the past year, but anyone who'd read a newspaper or surfed the internet knew the name Tony Stark.
"Miss Jane Foster, I'm looking for Thor, who should be near you," Tony said politely, getting straight to the point.
"I'd appreciate it if you could pass the phone to him."
"Jane, did you just say Iron Man, Tony Stark, is calling you right now?" Daisy asked in disbelief, looking over her shoulder.
But Jane was too stunned by what Tony had said. If a man like Tony Stark was explicitly asking to speak with Thor, then that confirmed it — the man with her truly was Thor.
Just as Thor emerged from the other room, having changed into his new clothes, Jane's brain caught up with reality.
"Thor, someone's looking for you," she said, handing him the phone.
"Who are you?" Thor asked, taking the phone and seeing the armored figure on the screen. He paused for a moment, unsure.
"Thor, God of Thunder. It's an honor to meet you," Tony introduced himself smoothly. "I'm Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man. I know you're on Earth and that you're probably looking for your hammer, Mjolnir."
"You know where my hammer is?" Thor's eyes widened. The moment he heard someone knew the location of Mjolnir, he became noticeably more alert, his voice laced with urgency.
Once he had his hammer, he could return to Asgard and reunite with his father.
"Of course. Your hammer is right here with me," Tony replied, not one to beat around the bush.
"If you want it back, come to the address I'm sending you."
"What's the catch?" Thor asked, narrowing his eyes. He knew that retrieving Mjolnir might come at a cost.
"Catch? There's no catch," Tony chuckled. "Just come and take it. I'm tired of babysitting it."
Thor was taken aback by Tony's casual attitude. But his straightforward nature revealed a lot about him. Tony could tell Thor wasn't an idiot — unlike a certain Steve Rogers — if he knew to ask if there was a price for getting something back.
"Can I at least see it? Send me a picture," Thor requested, still cautious. Without his powers, he had to tread carefully.
"Sure thing. Here, this is your hammer, right?" Tony responded, stepping aside to reveal Mjolnir sitting on a table behind him.
"Yes, that's it. I'll be there as soon as I can," Thor confirmed after inspecting it closely.
"Great. I'll be waiting," Tony said with a nod, before ending the call.
"Wait, so you are Thor?" Daisy asked, staring at the handsome man in disbelief after overhearing the entire conversation.
"Who else would dare use that name?" Thor replied, standing proudly.
"So, does that mean you're leaving us?" Jane asked, realizing what Thor's departure would mean after hearing the entire exchange.
"...Not yet," Thor hesitated, looking a bit embarrassed. "I still need your help."
"You're a god. Can't you just fly there?" Daisy asked, the doubt creeping back into her voice.
"There's been… an incident. I've temporarily lost my powers," Thor explained, shifting awkwardly. "And even if I had them, I don't know this land well enough. So, I need you to drive me to the location Tony Stark mentioned."
"Will you help me? I promise I'll repay you for your assistance."
"Repayment isn't necessary," Jane responded, intrigued by this turn of events. "But I would like to know more about you — and your world."
"Of course," Thor smiled. "I'd be happy to tell you all about it."
