Harvey had previously wondered why Sonya, despite experiencing the pleasures of gourmet food and joining the Void, could still maintain her resolve and control her actions.
Now, he understood: for Sonya, the most crucial aspect of joining the Void was to avoid losing her sanity.
She regarded this as a fundamental task and acted accordingly. Even though Harvey had said money was no issue, Sonya treated her role as if she were managing the household, working to minimize expenses.
"Mr. Kassadin, the substantial costs for this construction are mainly due to the need to complete the roads, villas, training grounds, and port within a month," Sonya explained. "This requires mobilizing many workers, which increases labor costs significantly."
"If we extend the timeframe to two or three months, we could save at least 20 million in labor costs. Additionally, the materials needed for the training grounds are quite expensive."
"Would you like more detailed information?"
Although Sonya couldn't see Kassadin's expression, she felt his approval and was pleased, continuing to explain.
"No need for more details; just handle it," Harvey said, shaking his head as he accessed the cosmic communicator. He transferred 153 million with a few taps.
"Just get it done quickly," he added. "I'll expect a reward if the work meets my satisfaction."
Harvey resumed his game, leaving Sonya with the task at hand.
Sonya, with permission granted, tidied her appearance and set off to get things done.
In the lobby of the Luxe Hotel, other women observed Sonya leaving with a confident smile and driving off in her luxury car. Their curiosity only grew.
They wondered if Sonya had been dismissed or deceived. However, asking directly wouldn't provide answers.
Even if someone was being financially supported, it was rarely flaunted openly.
Half of the villa managers at the Luxe Hotel were from Xandar, while the other half were aliens, catering to diverse tastes and offering both exotic and homely experiences.
Whether Xandarians or aliens, those who boasted about being supported often lacked experience. The more discerning ones kept such matters hidden, preserving their reputation and ensuring a fallback plan.
Sonya, meanwhile, contacted the three construction companies from her car. Since different goals needed to be addressed, and construction plans needed review, she instructed each company to send representatives to discuss details.
This was her first assignment from Mr. Kassadin, and she was determined to complete it to his satisfaction.
While Harvey was engrossed in his game, he suddenly received a system notification indicating that three individuals wished to learn about the Void.
He glanced at the city of Xandar and saw Darm demonstrating his powers and speaking to his three companions.
Without hesitation, Harvey approved their request.
Darm and his colleagues were on an uninhabited mountain, having taken the day off for a break.
"Darm, we believe you've gained your powers," one of them said. "But does repeatedly expressing a desire to join the great Void help?"
"Yes, I've been repeating it for a few minutes," Darm replied. "Why don't you help us apply and see if we can meet the great Void God, Lord Kassadin?"
The three tall guards, now in casual clothes showcasing their muscular chests, expressed their eagerness.
"Lord Kassadin is correct," one said. "He mentioned that the great Void would give everyone a chance, and sincere devotion would bring its blessings."
"Do you want to change your lives?" Darm asked seriously.
"Of course we do, but we've been praying for half an hour," they replied. "And you can't even explain what the Void is. We're at a loss."
The three muscular men looked frustrated. They envied Darm's ability to leap several meters into the air.
With such strength, even if they couldn't join the New Star Legion, they could earn extra money by doing casual labor during their off-hours, improving their lives significantly.
Darm wanted to fulfill his promise to his colleagues and see if he could bring them along.
Lord Kassadin had tasked him with spreading the Void's teachings and had expressed anticipation for his performance. He felt embarrassed to seek help before demonstrating his progress.
The men realized Darm was likely hesitant to bother Lord Kassadin with such a minor issue. Nevertheless, they still yearned for the same opportunity Darm had and didn't want to remain ordinary guards.
So they continued their pleas.
"Great Void, great Lord Kassadin, please grant me power…"
The three men, with sincere devotion, chanted their pleas over and over.
Suddenly, they felt their surroundings transform into a vast starry expanse.
"It's happening! Lord Kassadin wasn't lying," Darm exclaimed as he saw his companions levitating, with purple energy from the Void entering their bodies.
Although he hadn't seen it personally before, he believed it was the blessing of the Void God, Lord Kassadin.
