Tony Stark arrived at the venue for the Stark Industries charity gala quickly. The event was filled with high society—handsome and wealthy men, as well as youthful and attractive women.
Tony's arrival immediately drew attention. After handing his car over to the valet, he scanned the crowd, exchanging pleasantries with those who greeted him, while searching for Harvey Amberlock.
Tony wanted to have another conversation with Harvey to gauge just how much he knew about him. Unfortunately, Harvey was nowhere to be seen.
So, Tony decided to seek out Obadiah to ask why he hadn't been informed about this charity event.
As Tony approached Obadiah, a sleek Audi R8 roared to a stop nearby. In New York's upper crust, people were familiar with most of the cars, and the arrival of this silver Audi R8 made it clear to most that its owner was Harvey Amberlock.
Tony had investigated Harvey before, so he knew exactly who the car belonged to. Soon, the door of the car opened, and a tall, handsome man with black hair and dark eyes stepped out.
"Directly diverting $3.5 billion in liquid assets to become one of Stark Industries' shareholders," some people murmured, recognizing Harvey. "Looks like the elite scene just gained a new member."
"He's attending the gala?"
"Doesn't seem like he brought a date."
The young and beautiful women present were both surprised and intrigued by Harvey's appearance. Although Harvey had previously attended Tony Stark's press conference, this was his first appearance at such a gala. Charity galas typically require a female companion, and good fortune might lead to a pleasant evening.
Tony stood on the steps, locking eyes with Harvey. Without hesitation, he walked over.
"I heard you don't usually attend events like this. Even though you received an invitation, why did you decide to come this time?"
Tony asked as he reached Harvey.
"Well, there should be plenty of good food here. I happened to get an invitation, and had no other plans, so I decided to check it out," Harvey replied with a smile. "Besides, I figured you'd want to have a chat with me, so here I am."
"Do you have time to talk?"
Tony noted Harvey's assured tone and did not deny the request.
"That depends on what you want to discuss," Harvey responded ambiguously.
"Let's continue this inside," Tony said, glancing around. Harvey nodded and followed Tony into the venue.
Their interaction seemed familiar, sparking curiosity among the onlookers who began to gossip.
Phil Coulson, noticing Harvey Amberlock's presence and his conversation with Stark, decided to find an opportunity to speak with Tony.
"Why did you suddenly buy shares in Stark Industries?" Tony asked once they were on an empty balcony outside the ballroom.
"Of course, it's because I want to make more money," Harvey said, casually observing the night view.
"So I'm asking why you suddenly have confidence in Stark Industries," Tony pressed, his tone suggesting disbelief.
Harvey's response seemed evasive, so Tony was hoping to understand through Harvey's explanation.
"Given your intelligence, you should be able to figure out my reasons," Harvey said, glancing meaningfully at Tony's chest.
"Who told you?" Tony asked, his suspicion rising. "Obadiah?"
Just that glance made Tony feel as though Harvey could see through him entirely. He narrowed his eyes and tentatively guessed the most likely name.
"Obadiah? He's just a disposable piece of trash to me, not worth my time," Harvey said calmly.
Tony sensed a dismissive attitude in Harvey's words. It was clear that Harvey saw Obadiah Stane as insignificant, despite Obadiah being a well-known figure with years of military collaboration and influence in the U.S.
"What gives you the confidence to speak about Obadiah Stane like that?" Tony wondered, his curiosity piqued.
"I have no grudge against you, so I'll pretend I didn't hear that," Tony said, not holding Obadiah in high regard but acknowledging him as an elder in Stark Industries and someone he had a long-standing relationship.
Considering Harvey Amberlock's background and origins, if Obadiah Stane learned how Harvey viewed him, it could lead to catastrophic consequences for Harvey.
Despite his irritation with Harvey, Tony had to admit there was no real animosity between them.
"If you're trying to help me out of the blue, I appreciate it."
"As a token of thanks, Tony Stark, I can give you a reminder. Are you interested?"
Harvey's indifferent demeanor melted away into a slight smile as he offered the reminder.
"This isn't me begging; you're the one who wants to offer it."
Tony made it clear that he wasn't asking for help but was merely receiving a reminder.
"Of course, it's just a token of gratitude," Harvey continued. "You're investigating who deliberately kidnapped you, right? Trust your instincts and be cautious of the person. Even trash can cause some trouble."
"How do you know I was kidnapped?" Tony asked, his mind racing to a possible suspect. He almost asked loudly but quickly lowered his voice.
"I'm a bit hungry now; I think I'll go grab something to eat," Harvey said, glancing at Tony before heading toward the dining area with an array of food.
Tony watched Harvey move through the dance floor toward the food tables, feeling a mix of curiosity and frustration. The setting was not suitable for further conversation, so Tony reluctantly pushed his questions aside and joined the crowd.
