After satisfying his desires, Harvey returned to his carefree, laid-back lifestyle.
It was now around August 2012, and all he had to do was wait until 2014 when Star-Lord would deliver the Power Stone into his hands.
The Power Stone possessed immense energy, not something he could casually absorb, but it could certainly be wielded as a powerful weapon.
When Sonia saw that Kassadin had returned, she went about her duties as usual, not mentioning anything.
Loki's visit to Void Island was nothing more than a minor incident.
Tony, after dealing with Loki's arrival and hosting a large banquet, had officially started research into wormhole-jumping technology.
The members of Void Island continued to enjoy their daily routines—eating, drinking, and training in the gravity chambers.
Life on Void Island was as peaceful and tranquil as ever.
Tony had now assigned Lalatina as his secretary, allowing her to coordinate directly with Sonia for various tasks.
For any research equipment Tony required, J.A.R.V.I.S. would first investigate, and once a target was found, Tony would fund it, sending Lalatina and Sonia to acquire the items.
Whatever advanced technology couldn't be found on Earth was easily obtainable on Xandar if one had enough money.
Time quietly slipped by, and four months passed in the blink of an eye.
Xandar's New Year celebrations were just around the corner.
For Earth, it was nearing December 19, 2012, also marking the approach of the New Year.
This also signified the third year since Void Island's founding.
Having learned from the previous two years, the preparations for the New Year's ceremony on Void Island created an incredibly festive atmosphere before the event even began.
On this day, most of the members of Void Island's Void Sect returned.
One after another, space fighters and spaceships streaked through Xandar's skies like shooting stars, rushing from across the universe to return.
The officers of the Nova Corps, witnessing this spectacle, had long since grown accustomed to it.
During the first year, the sight of so many ships had startled them, but they now knew that the Void Sect, founded three years ago, posed no threat to Xandar.
In fact, due to the sheer strength of its members, the Void Sect had contributed to better law enforcement on Xandar.
Around 6:30 in the morning, Lalatina, who was still enjoying her sweet dreams, was suddenly jolted awake by the roaring engines of spaceships.
Yawning, she pulled open the curtains and stepped out onto the balcony, curious about what was happening.
However, when she looked up and saw a fleet of space fighters flying low overhead, her drowsiness vanished in an instant.
"So many fighters? What day is it today?"
Lalatina whispered to herself in surprise.
Despite the number of ships, she wasn't worried about an impending war or anything of the sort.
After spending several months on the island, she had gained a basic understanding of how things worked here.
She knew the Void Sect's reputation in the universe. Despite only having a few hundred members, each one was a powerhouse, active on various battlefields and bounty missions across the galaxy.
She had also witnessed their training firsthand—their combat resembled battles between monsters.
Tony was an undisputed genius, and his lab was filled with suits of armor, each with different combat capabilities.
However, without his armor, Tony's strength could only be considered above average in the Void Sect.
Only when donning his Iron Man suits could Tony stand among the top ranks with the likes of Reno, the Seer, Kael, and Leicy.
Sara had shared this information with Lalatina, as she mostly interacted with Tony.
Sara, on the other hand, primarily dealt with the other members of the Void Sect and thus had a more comprehensive understanding of its power structure.
"Reno once mentioned that the Void Sect has a tradition of New Year's worship," Sara explained as she stepped onto the balcony in her nightgown, having been woken up by the same roaring engines.
"That's when the entire sect gathers, and it's the most lively day of the year."
"So many people come back just for New Year's worship? Who are they worshipping?" Lalatina asked, clearly puzzled.
"Of course, they're worshipping the Void God, Kassadin," Sara replied. "Sonia also mentioned that the Void Sect currently has around 500 members.
"However, I've only recorded 447 members who have officially greeted me, and only 263 of them live on the island.
"Most of the others are usually out on missions, so it makes sense they'd return for the New Year."
Just as Sara finished speaking, a massive shadow covered them, blocking out the sunlight.
Both women looked up to see a colossal spaceship descending through the clouds.
"The Void Sect must be pretty wealthy," Lalatina remarked, gazing at the enormous spaceship.
"Never seen that serial number or insignia before. Let's change clothes and head over to check it out," Sara suggested, scanning the ship with a projection device.
After six months as the island's record keeper, Sara had developed the habit of checking the serial numbers and insignia on any incoming ships.
"Alright," Lalatina agreed, noting that it wasn't even 9 AM yet.
After getting dressed, the two women drove to the island's main landing field.
While Tony and Sonia had their private landing pads, most Void Sect members parked their ships in the main docking area.
"Good morning, Sara! Lalatina! You're up early today," a burly figure called out as they arrived.
"Good morning, Kael," Sara replied with a smile, though she couldn't help but feel a bit resigned.
"I'd have loved to sleep in, but with all that noise, I had no choice but to wake up," she said.
Though Sara had long gotten used to being woken up unexpectedly, she still played along with the situation.
"Hahaha! You can sleep in any other day, but waking up early today is for the best. A lot of people are coming back, and as the record keeper, you'll want to greet them all," Kael said, laughing heartily.
