Chapter 63 - Chapter 63: You will pay for this!

Her face was now dangerously close to mine, barely a few inches away and I could practically hear her breathing beside my ear as she drew in short ragged breaths. Her grip tightened around my dress as her blood boiled with anger that was bubbling beneath the surface.

She gritted her teeth as she glared at me.

"You will pay for this!" She screamed this time, her high-pitched voice ringing in my ears, almost shattering from ear drums.

I remained nonchalant and unfazed by her actions, a stoic expression masked my features. I reached up to grab onto her hands, my nails digging into her bare skin and I watched as her expression shifted as she grimaced in pain.

"Let me go! You are hurting me!" She demanded as a soft yelp escaped her parted lips. I pushed her hands off my body and kept my gaze steady, watching her stumble back a couple of steps.

"I didn't do anything," I stated simply. "So what exactly is my fault? What should I be paying for?" I questioned with a raised brow, my voice cold and distant despite the anger that was burning within my chest.

"You! You knew exactly what you did!" She screeched, raising her arm at me when I caught both of her wrists in my hands and squeezed tightly to hold her still despite her protests and profanities that were being hurled right at me.

I kept my eyes on her, amusement dancing in my dark brown eyes as the corners of my lips curved upwards into a slight smirk and a low chuckle erupted from my throat.

"You were the one barging in here, insinuating that Mr Jones and I have some kind of inappropriate relationship," I reminded her crudely.

She opened her mouth wanting to say something, but before she could utter a single word, I continued.

"And let's not forget that you were the one accusing Mr Jones of sleeping with me in exchange for getting my artwork featured at the exhibition," I sneered. Titling my head slightly, my eyes held hers captive, a knowing look glinting in my eyes. "How do you think Mr Jones would feel hearing those words come out of your mouth? Are you planning to ruin his reputation?" I questioned intentionally, my sharp words piercing through the tension that was lingering in the air.

"Exactly," Henry chimed in, anger still evident on his face as he glanced over to glare at Evelyn with disdain. "Do you not think before you speak?!" He spat.

Panic had settled in and anyone could see that she was flustered at his words. She matched his gaze, an apologetic look plastered across her face. "Mr Jones, I was –"

He cut her off once again, not bothering to listen to her explanation or a single word from her, much to her dismay "There's no need to explain. I don't wish to hear it," he said, his tone laced with finality and there was no room for bargaining. "Please leave."

A frown immediately appeared on her face, resting between her brows as she pouted, clearly unhappy at the situation. It was obvious that she wasn't used to hearing the word 'no', but at least she was smart enough to know that she didn't have much of a choice or say right there and then.

She simply stomped her feet against the ground as she clenched her fist tightly beside her body as if she was throwing a tantrum.

"Fine!" She exclaimed. Turning around to leave, she stopped right by the door, whipping her head around to glare at me, her nose scrunching up in disgust and anger, feeling unjust about the whole situation. She warned, her voice heavy with a threat as she narrowed her eyes right at me. "You are going to regret doing this, Aurelia!"

She then stomped off as an amused chuckle left my lips while my head buzzed with thoughts. This was all her own doing and now she was going to suffer the consequences of her own actions!

"Aurelia, are you okay?" Henry's concerned voice reached my ears, snapping me back to reality. I turned around to meet his seemingly worried gaze. "I'm really sorry about the –"

I raised my hand to gesture for him to stop and he looked at me with wide eyes and a puzzled look etched onto his face.

"It's fine. I believe we are done here for today, I'm going to leave," I said coldly, as the image of his hand lingering on my thighs popped back into my head to haunt me, replaying at the back of my mind like a broken record player I couldn't seem to fix.

He arched an eyebrow at me as he let out a breath of disbelief. "What did you just say? You are leaving?" His voice reeked of displeasure and unhappiness as he clenched his jaws.

"Yes," I reiterated without a second thought, my voice filled with certainty. "I'm leaving."

As I spun on my heels and turned around to leave, he reached out to wrap his fingers around my forearm, trying to hold me back. "Where did you think you were going? Did I say you could leave?" He asked, glaring at me with wide eyes, anger evident in his deep voice.

"What do you think you are doing?!" I exclaimed as I tried to yank my hand out of his tight grasp but he only tightened his grip in retaliation.

His face darkened visibly as he leaned in closer to murmur beside my ear.

"If you leave here tonight, you can forget about having your art displayed at our exhibition," he threatened as his voice dropped to a hush and intimidating whisper.

This time, I pulled even harder, breaking free from his grip. I kept my eyes on him.

"That's fine with me," I retorted fiercely even though my heart was thumping loudly against my chest. "I'm certain that there will be other art exhibitions who will truly appreciate my art and not see me as a piece of meat," I remained calm despite the pure anger and disgust that was swirling inside of me, but my voice carried a sharp edge to it.

"You –!" His face was flushed red from the anger as he stepped forward to get closer to me.

We didn't break eye contact.

"If you come any closer to me, I will scream," I warned. Seeing that he was now standing rooted to the ground, I quickly turned and walked off.

Third Person POV

"Ahhh!" Evelyn screamed as soon as she stepped out of the restaurant and onto the street, causing a few people to turn around and stare at him with judgemental looks. Her eyes that were burning with a fiery blaze were darting around. "What are you looking at?!" She hissed with an unhappy look that masked her features as she glared at the people who were looking at her.

They only quickly walked off, muttering and whispering among themselves.

"Aurelia Holt…" She muttered the name under her breath, her voice filled with disdain and contempt. She balled her fists by her side, her knuckles were even starting to turn white as her nails pressed into her palms. Staring into a distance, her lips curled up with anger. "I am going to make your life a living hell for you, then you will learn to never mess with someone like me ever again!" She burst out in anger.

She exhaled and reached for her phone, a smirk forming on her lips as her eyes glanced down to look at the picture on her phone. A wave of satisfaction washed over her in an instant, knowing that she had one more thing over Aurelia's head this time.

"Ruin my career?" She sneered with a disdainful scorn. "I will ruin your marriage," she announced with a smug look that stretched across her face.

"And…" Her voice trailed off and her eyes gleamed with a knowing look as she pressed the send button without a second thought. "Sent." The corners of her lips curled upwards into a satisfied smile that was etched onto her face.

Miles away, Xavier heard a soft ding reach his ears and his eyes flickered to the side to see his phone screen lit up within the next second.

Opening the text, he saw that it was a text from Evelyn along with a picture and his eyes flashed with recognition.

"Look at Aurelia, she is already seducing another older man even though she is married to you. You know, I would never do this to you. Sending you this and letting you know because I simply cannot hide the truth from you," the text read.

It was Aurelia and Henry Jones, the very same man that he had helped to set up the dinner for. It was clear in the picture, he had his hand resting on her thigh.

A surge of anger coursed through his body and his face darkened visibly. He clenched his fist tightly when he realised what he was looking at.

On impulse, a loud bang echoed in the room when he punched the table in front of him, forming a slight dent as he gritted his teeth in anger.

He quickly got changed and was ready to head out to look for Aurelia when the door flew open and his eyes landed on her.

"Where are you going?" She asked.

"I saw everything!"
