"Aren't you at the hospital?" Blake questioned, jumping out of the bed to walk towards me.
A scoff emerged from my throat. "So you knew I was in the hospital but you decided that I wasn't important enough for you to come see me?" I retorted, my voice carrying a sharp edge to it.
"It was nothing serious anyway," he dismissed. "Everyone faints once in a while. It's no big deal," he brushed it off casually.
"No big deal?" I asked, tossing his words back at him with a raised brow as I felt the anger starting to rise inside of me.
"Stella wasn't feeling well too and she wanted to watch this movie for the longest time."
"It's always Stella this, Stella that. God, when will you finally stop uttering another woman's name?!" I yelled back at him as my blood boiled with anger and I lost my calm. "Did you also take the money from our joint account to give it all to her?"
I watched as his eyes widened in shock for a brief moment as my words clicked inside his head.
"Look, Stella didn't have the money to pay for her rent this month. I was just helping her out."
"Is her rent $50,000 a month? I wonder where she is staying. She must sue the landlord because that is basically daylight robbery! " I retorted, my voice heavy with sarcasm. "Don't lie to my face. What else did you use the money for?" I interrogated, pushing for the truth.
"Blake said that he wanted me to fly first class and bring me on a vacation to get away from the city and relax my mind," Stella chimed in, her voice reaching my ears as if to taunt me on purpose. "I didn't know that he took the money from you… If I had known then I wouldn't have agreed to it. I can pay you back bit by bit if that's okay with you."
A cold chuckle erupted from my throat as I glared at Stella, my dark brown eyes burning with a fiery blaze. "I wasn't talking to you," I snapped, then I turned back to meet Blake's eyes. "I don't care if you want to treat her or bring her on holidays with your own money. Just return me mine," I demanded as I narrowed my eyes into thin slits. There was no way in hell they were taking my money.
"Everything was already paid for fully, I can't refund it. Besides, can't you be more understanding? Stella has been struggling to make ends meet, working two jobs a day. You are just a stay-at-home wife who stays at home all day doing nothing, you won't understand how hard it is. Why are you so selfish?" He snapped at me as his fists were clenched tightly beside him.
"I stay at home all day doing nothing?!" I repeated as I seethed with anger that took control of my body. "Did you think the house cleans itself? Did you think that your dirty laundry littered everywhere magically walked to the laundry basket and washed themselves? What about breakfast and dinner? Did you think that the food just fell from the sky? Fuck you, Blake."
He grabbed my wrist tightly to pull me closer to him, our faces now dangerously close and I could feel his hot breath fanning the nape of my neck as he glared at me with contempt in his eyes.
"So what? These are expected from a wife, it's your basic duty. I go out there and work hard everyday to put food on the table and put a roof over our heads! You better fix that attitude of yours and don't you fucking dare cuss at me one more time," he warned as he released his grip on my wrist.
I watched as Stella walked to Blake's side and rested her hands on his arm as if to comfort him as she softly whispered in his ear, asking him to calm down, telling him that it wasn't worth it.
"If this is about the money, don't worry about it, I will pay you back once I get my bonus from my boss," he promised but his voice carried a disdainful edge.
"Why are you doing all these for Stella? And you expect me to believe you when you said that she is just your friend? You don't pay for your friend's rent and bring your friend on a holiday just so that she can relax! What does she do for you that I don't already do?"
"Stella supports my dream and she is actually interested in hearing what I have to say. She believes in me, she believes that one day I will become a famous director like I have always dreamed of. But you? All you do is stay home and make your stupid paintings!"
"Don't call my paintings stupid," I said as my voice trembled with anger.
He laughed. "Why not? They are stupid. All these paintings are just sitting in the storage room rotting away and never seeing the sunlight because no one wants to actually buy them. Just because you won a few competitions, doesn't automatically make you an artist," he sneered, his words were like sharp daggers piercing right through my heart, it was obvious that he didn't care about my dream, nor did he care about my feelings.
A cold chuckle left my parted lips as I looked at him, the man who I once called my husband, the man who I once loved. The ache in my heart was starting to fade away and I was feeling numb for the most part of it. There was a short pause as silence stretched between us before I let the next few words roll off the tip of my tongue, knowing that his ego and pride will definitely take a hit.
"Then filming a few short films on your crappy camera that nobody watches doesn't make you a director either," I retorted as my eyes gleamed with a knowing look and I watched the way his face turned red from rage.
"Get out!" He screamed this time, his finger pointing right at the door.
I remained unfazed by his yelling as I stood there and watched Stella put her arm around his once again, a slight smirk resting on her red lips.
"Blake, please…" Stella said in a sweet voice which sounded like chalk against the blackboard to me.
I grabbed the divorce papers from my bag and threw it right in his face.
"I want a divorce."
A low chuckle erupted from his throat as he looked at me with wide eyes as if I had gone mad. A look of surprise crossed his face for a mere second. He pulled his arm away from Stella's.
"Are you serious?"
