Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Defying Heaven's Comprehension - Haki Training Accelerated by 10,000 Times

"Major Chiba, please take a break and go home early."

"Yes, Major Chiba. You've been working overtime for three months straight. If you keep this up, you'll wear yourself out."

Two young, beautiful female captains addressed the young man absorbed in his work as they packed up for the day.

The young man, about sixteen or seventeen, had a chiseled, handsome face that exuded both heroism and charm. A stack of documents lay beside him, and he picked up another report, studying it intently.

"Major Chiba looks so handsome when he's focused."

"Do you really think Major Chiba will find a way for regular Marines to awaken Haki?"

"Even though I admire him, to be honest, that sounds impossible."

"Yeah, I just hope he realizes this and gives up before it's too late."

The two captains whispered to each other as Chiba continued to pour over the data, undistracted.

Seventeen years ago, Chiba found himself transported into the world of pirates, becoming the twin brother of Monkey D. Luffy. He spent his childhood alongside Ace, Luffy, and Sabo—memories that were both cherished and unforgettable.

Years passed, and Sabo went missing. Three years ago, Ace set sail and became a pirate. Three months ago, Luffy followed, also becoming a pirate.

Pirates—looting, burning, killing, and worse—they embodied the worst of humanity. Yet, Chiba knew that what Ace and Luffy aspired to be was far from this. Their hearts yearned for the thrill of conquering the seas, seeking adventure rather than committing atrocities.

In Chiba's eyes, his brothers weren't pirates; they were adventurers. But regardless of how he viewed them, his brothers were destined to become the Marine's greatest adversaries in the future.

Thus, he made his choice—to join the Marines, not only to keep an eye on his wayward siblings but also to help them when needed, subtly shielding them from danger.

But there was another reason he joined the Marines—one of critical importance.

Three months ago, Chiba awakened a gift—a cheat ability that every transmigrator dreams of.

His cheat? Heaven-defying comprehension.

By observing and analyzing Devil Fruits, objects, abilities, and more, he could devise various techniques, skills, and remedies.

The Marine headquarters, with its vast resources—Six Styles, Conqueror's Haki, extensive swordsmanship manuals, and the best doctors—was the ideal environment for him to maximize this talent.

Moreover, his grandfather was the legendary Marine hero, Garp. With such connections, Chiba could access any resource he desired with little effort.

It was the perfect arrangement. His brothers might seek the pirate path, but he chose the Marines, much to Garp's delight. When Chiba offered to become a Marine, Garp was thrilled. Chiba even tried to leverage this enthusiasm by requesting the rank of colonel and demanding access to all available data on Haki awakening.

But Garp refused, insisting he start as a junior officer. Annoyed, Chiba threatened to go pirate himself, which resulted in a tussle. Ultimately, he settled on the rank of major and gained access to the information he sought.

For the past three months, Chiba worked tirelessly, sleeping only three hours a day. The rest of his time was spent analyzing and synthesizing data. His understanding of Haki, particularly Armament Haki, had become exceptionally deep. He sensed that he was on the brink of a breakthrough.

The following morning, his efforts bore fruit.

[Through relentless analysis of Armament Haki, you have discovered a rapid training method, increasing cultivation speed by 10,000 times.]

Chiba's entire body shivered with excitement. Three months of hard work had finally paid off. A new training system unfolded in his mind—a method for harnessing energy such as momentum and murderous intent, transforming spiritual power into a weapon. This formidable energy, known as Haki, had various forms, with Armament Haki being a physical manifestation of spiritual energy.

The reason Haki was so challenging to master was because of the difficulty in controlling one's will and spirit—what was often referred to as the 'monkey mind.' Human thoughts, like a wild horse, were uncontrollable. One might sit still, seemingly focused, yet find their mind wandering.

However, the rapid Armament Haki training method allowed one to instantly focus their entire spirit.

This method comprised three key aspects: movement, breathing, and incantations.

Chiba adopted a meditative pose, his tongue touching his palate, eyes half-closed as he visualized his dantian.

Breathing through his nose, he took three long breaths followed by two short ones, silently reciting: "A pure heart is like water; clear water is the heart. No breeze, no waves; tranquility prevails."

An hour passed.

In the office, Chiba's practice showed tremendous progress. He had managed to concentrate his spiritual energy perfectly, directing it to his right index finger. A thin, black sheen covered half of his finger, as if it had been coated with a fine layer of paint.

Chiba paused, maintaining his focus, and the Haki remained intact on his finger. A satisfied smile crossed his lips.

Though his energy reserves were limited, he had finally succeeded in cultivating Armament Haki. In the future, as his physical and spiritual energy increased, the potency and quantity of his Haki would grow substantially.

Now, it was time to test its power.

Chiba drew his sword—a long, sharp blade that shimmered with light, its surface rippling like water. It was a prized sword, sharp enough to slice through anything, though not yet one of the fifty renowned blades.

With a light swing, the blade sliced through the air, producing a crisp sound. It effortlessly severed a corner of the wooden desk with a clean cut.

Next, Chiba pressed his index finger against the blade, and a metallic sound resonated.

He flipped his hand over. There wasn't a single scratch on his finger.

With a grin, he raised his sword again, this time aiming at his finger with greater force.
