Rin Matsuoka also planned to bring Hirata Yosuke in to help him share some of the girls' attention during lunch break.
Although Rin was good at dealing with girls, he wasn't as comfortable dealing with a group of girls!
At this moment, Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji, who had just returned to their seats, overheard what Rin said to Ayanokouji Kiyotaka. Yamauchi Haruki quickly spoke up.
"Matsuoka-san! Please take us with you! It'll definitely be more lively with me and Ike joining!"
"Ah? Yes, yes, yes!" Ike Kanji was stunned for a moment, then nodded repeatedly in excitement.
Now both of them were looking at Rin with hopeful eyes.
Hmm… their hopeful eyes are kind of disgusting…
Rin silently observed these two students, who the school's admissions office had labeled as useless.
If I let these two idiots come along, it might ruin the mood and the appetite…
Especially this guy Haruki Yamauchi.
When he introduced himself, he kept bragging about how amazing he was.
What if Yamauchi starts bragging while we're having lunch? That would make the food hard to swallow.
"I've already brought Ayanokouji Kiyotaka along without asking permission. It'd be unreasonable to bring you two as well."
Refusing them, Rin pointed at Kushida Kikyo and Karuizawa kei, saying, "Go ask Kushida and Karuizawa. They're the ones who invited us for lunch."
Upon hearing this, Ike Kanji immediately backed down. He had enough self-awareness to know that the group of girls didn't like them much.
But Yamauchi Haruki lacked such self-awareness. Furious at being rejected by Rin, he slammed his hand hard on the desk.
"Hiss… that hurts! I hit too hard."
Rin's mouth twitched. He nearly laughed at the display.
Shaking his sore hand, Yamauchi Haruki grumbled, "Let's go! Let's go ask them directly."
"Ah wait, stop pulling me!" Ike Kanji was dragged along by Haruki, staggering as he was forcibly pulled away.
In truth, Ike Kanji had a glimmer of hope too, otherwise, he wouldn't have allowed himself to be dragged so easily by Yamauchi.
Meanwhile, the atmosphere between the two girls' groups, led by Karuizawa kei and Kushida Kikyo, was especially harmonious. As they talked, they looked like close sisters with a very good relationship.
There was none of the tension that was present when they were around Rin.
However, Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji barged into this harmonious scene between the two small groups of girls.
"I just heard Rin-san say that you invited him to make things more lively, right? Why not bring us along too?"
The shameless Haruki Yamauchi continued, "We promise to make lunch even more lively for everyone."
"Yes, yes, yes!" Ike echoed eagerly.
Haruki's words instantly shattered the peaceful atmosphere between the girls, who all displayed expressions of disgust, quickly banding together against the intruders!
Girls may fight among themselves, but they are just as quick to unite when facing an outside threat!
With an annoyed expression, Karuizawa snapped, "Ha! Why would we want to bring you two guys along?"
"And you're so rude. Why do you call Matsuoka by his first name?"
In Japan, it's indeed considered rude to address others by their first name unless you are close.
Yamauchi Haruki was taken aback by Karuizawa kei's strong attitude. He mumbled, "I was just saying it would be fun…"
"But I think your joining won't make it more lively. In fact, it'll just make things uncomfortable!" Shinohara bluntly expressed her disdain for the two.
"That's right!" the other girls echoed in agreement.
Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji's faces turned red with embarrassment. Rin Matsuoka, who was still seated, propped his chin on his hand, watching their dejected faces with interest, clearly enjoying the show.
Noticing that the girls were all against Yamauchi Haruki and Ike Kanji joining, Kikyo Kushida realized it was time for her to speak up.
"Yamauchi-san, Ike-san, I really wanted you both to join us, but everyone seems to disagree. I'm afraid I can only apologize." Kushida clasped her hands together and gave them a sincere, almost guilty expression, as if she genuinely felt bad for them.
Her display of kindness deeply moved both Yamauchi and Ike. What a thoughtful, kind girl! She's practically an angel!
All the other girls were showing open disdain, yet only Kikyo Kushida had been friendly toward them. She wasn't just considerate either—she was stunningly beautiful with an alluring figure.
Instantly, Ike Kanji and Yamauchi Haruki's admiration for Kikyo skyrocketed. They both started wishing they could become her boyfriend on the spot, promising themselves they'd treat her well for the rest of their lives!
I want to be Kushida Kikyo's boyfriend... Wait, is that out of gratitude, or revenge on the world?
"Kikyo, you don't need to apologize! Honestly, these two guys might be… well, not exactly lookers, but their ideas are something else. I mean, they actually think they could have lunch with us?" Karuizawa said with a sharp edge to her voice.
"Hey, isn't that going a bit too far?" one of the boys muttered.
"Really? I don't think so. We're enough already, and there's no need to add anyone else," Shinohara added firmly.
"But didn't Rin Matsuoka drag Ayanokouji Kiyotaka into this too?" Yamauchi Haruki couldn't help but protest.
"Since Matsuoka-san invited him, it's fine," one of the girls said.
"Yeah, I agree~" another chimed in casually.
Damn it, Yamauchi thought bitterly. These girls can't stand us, but they're totally fine with Rin Matsuoka?
Does being handsome mean you can get away with anything?
"Since Matsuoka-san has already called Ayanokouji-san, why don't we invite Hirata-san too?" Mori Nene suggested.
"That's a good idea!"
"Yeah, I'm all for it!"
Because Yosuke Hirata was the second most handsome guy in the class, none of the girls objected to him joining.
Meanwhile, Yamauchi and Ike had come to a harsh realization: being handsome really did allow you to do whatever you wanted. They had begged to join and been rejected outright, but Yosuke Hirata was invited by the girls without even lifting a finger!
Disheartened, Yamauchi and Ike slunk away from the girls' area.
"I can't stand all these handsome guys anymore! They should all just drop dead!" Ike muttered bitterly.
The way the girls treated Hirata compared to how they treated them only deepened Ike's resentment toward handsome guys, pushing it to a new level.
"Ike, I think we need to take a different approach," Yamauchi suddenly said.
"What do you mean, Yamauchi?" Ike asked, still annoyed.
"Let's make friends with Rin Matsuoka. If the girls keep inviting him to lunch or to hang out, we can use our friendship with him to get closer to them."
"That… actually makes sense! Yamauchi, you're a genius!" Ike exclaimed, his mood lifting slightly.
"Hahaha, I think so too!" Haruki Yamauchi laughed, feeling pleased with himself.
