Chapter 5 - 5

This matter is too incredible.

Cedric Su is thrown into an unprecedented state of confusion.

For several nights in a row, I can hear the sounds coming from his study.

He's not smashing things, but practicing calligraphy over and over again, his brush strokes like a knife, as if wanting to pierce through the paper.

I hide in my room, listening to that rustling sound, and can't help but feel a bit uneasy.

A few days later, Cedric Su finally appears before me.

"I've confirmed that you are indeed my daughter."

he leads me into the magnificently decorated study, "I'm already over forty, and since you are my flesh and blood, you should learn how to manage the Su Group's businesses."

Before I can respond, several guards wearing Tang suits surround me.

They begin to introduce the Su family's industries non-stop: from traditional tea and silk to modern high-tech and new energy, and real estate all over the world.

It turns out that Cedric Su is not just a rich man, but also a super-wealthy tycoon who owns a vast business empire.

The history of this family enterprise can be traced back to the Republican era, truly deep-rooted.

After listening for a long time, I'm already dizzy from these astronomical figures.

I finally understand the true meaning of the idiom "rich enough to rival a nation".

Cedric Su is very satisfied with my dumbfounded reaction.

"Starting from today, you will follow me and learn to manage the company.

Tomorrow, we'll first go and inspect our tea factory."

I inwardly cry out in misery, but in this family, Cedric Su's words are imperial decrees, and no one is allowed to say half a word of "no".

That night, I have a terrible nightmare.

In the dream, Cedric Su suddenly barges into my room, followed by a group of people.

He says coldly, "I've known all along that you're not my daughter.

Now come with me to get married, or else don't ever think about inheriting a single penny from the Su family!"

I wake up in a cold sweat.

This feeling of not being in control of my own life leaves me breathless.

I can't take it anymore.

I want to escape!

Taking advantage of the deep night when everyone is asleep, I tiptoe to the back garden.

Old gardener Wang once said that there is a hidden small door here.

But just as I touch the door handle, a hand lands on my shoulder.

I almost scream out loud, but someone covers my mouth.

Taking a closer look, it turns out to be Haley Tang!

She pulls me to hide in an abandoned pavilion.

"There's no surveillance here.

We can talk now."

"Who are you, really."

I ask, still shaken.

Haley Tang rolls her eyes, "Who do you think you are? The young miss of the Su family?"

"What do you mean."

I'm completely confused.

"I was sent by Cedric Su's competitor."

Haley Tang says in a low voice, "That DNA report was faked by me.

Don't think you can really become the Su family's golden daughter so easily."

My eyes widen, "Little sister, what are you saying?"

"Shh, keep your voice down."

Haley Tang looks around vigilantly, "Stay put and don't cause trouble for me.

If you ruin my plan, you'll be in for it."

Before I have time to think it through, Haley Tang drags me back to my room.

Along the way, we don't encounter a single person.

She's way too familiar with this place.

In the following days, I don't dare to act rashly and can only obediently follow Cedric Su to learn business management.

Although I don't understand any of those professional terms, I still nod and take notes for show.

Cedric Su is increasingly satisfied with me, his "daughter".

However, the good times don't last long.

One evening, Cedric Su suddenly barges into my room, his face ashen.

"Come with me."

I'm so scared that my soul nearly flies out of my body, thinking that my nightmare has come true.

But I hear him say in a deep voice, "Don't be afraid.

Someone is coming to catch us.

Come with Daddy."

I'm full of question marks, thinking that I'm not your daughter, so why do I need to run?

But I have no room for resistance at all.

Cedric Su pulls me and rushes out.

The bodyguards are ready and waiting.

Even if I turn into an ant, I can't escape.

At this critical juncture, Haley Tang charges in with a group of people.

But what leaves me dumbfounded is that she's holding a strangely shaped antique folding fan in her hand, and it seems like it can even shoot hidden weapons.

"Cedric Su, your good days are over."

Haley Tang shouts sternly.

Cedric Su, who was just pretending to be a loving father, instantly changes his expression.

He grabs a blue and white porcelain vase beside him and smashes it, picking up a shard and pressing it against my neck.

"Don't come any closer, or I'll let her die with me!"

"D-Daddy."

I stammer, squeezing out two tears.

Cedric Su lets out a cold laugh, "Shut up! You should have known long ago that you're not my daughter."

An unprecedented anger surges in my heart.

I suddenly lean back and headbutt Cedric Su's head with all my might.

"Come on, aren't you very powerful? If you have the guts, kill me now!"

My desperate action obviously scares Cedric Su.

Just as he is knocked out, the folding fan in Haley Tang's hand snaps open, and a cold gleam flashes.

I also black out from the impact and faint.
