Chapter 30 - Chapter 28: An Unfortunate Encounter

Leo walked down the academy path, the early morning sun casting a soft glow over everything. The birds chirped in the distance, and the air felt crisp. After the peaceful, uneventful day he'd had yesterday, Leo was feeling refreshed. He hoped for another day of calm—though deep down, he knew his luck might run out soon. This world had a way of turning the simplest situations into chaotic disasters.

As he strolled along, lost in thought, a familiar voice called out from behind him.

"Leo!"

Turning around, he saw Rin, looking as poised as ever, though there was a slight hint of embarrassment in her eyes. Their interactions had been... complicated, to say the least, ever since the accidental kiss incident. Leo wasn't sure if Rin had fully forgiven him, but she didn't seem angry at the moment, so that was a good sign.

"Good morning, Rin," Leo greeted, offering a polite smile.

Rin, her usual serious expression softening just slightly, fell into step beside him. "Morning," she replied quietly, glancing at him briefly before looking ahead.

The two of them walked in silence for a while, the tension between them barely noticeable. For a moment, Leo allowed himself to think that maybe, just maybe, today would continue to be peaceful. But of course, fate had other plans.

As they neared the classroom building, a figure suddenly appeared in their path. It was Choka, one of Mary's subordinates. She stood with her arms crossed and a fierce expression on her face, clearly not here for pleasantries.

"Leo!" Choka called out, her voice sharp and determined. "I challenge you to a fight!"

Leo blinked, caught off guard. "Uh, right now?" he asked, glancing at Rin, who seemed just as confused as he was.

Choka nodded firmly. "You humiliated my idol Mary when you defeated her in battle. I can't let that go unchallenged. I will restore her honor by defeating you!"

Leo sighed internally. He wasn't particularly in the mood for a fight, especially not before class. But Choka seemed serious, and if he refused, it might cause even more trouble. He exchanged a quick glance with Rin, who shrugged as if to say, "You brought this on yourself."

"Alright, fine," Leo said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Let's get this over with."

The three of them made their way to the school grounds, where a small crowd of students had already started to gather. Word of an upcoming fight spread quickly around here, and Leo noticed some familiar faces among the spectators, including Nomura and Masuko.

Choka stood in the center of the grounds, her stance aggressive and ready for battle. She looked confident, but Leo could sense the nervous energy beneath the surface. He had fought tougher opponents before, and while he didn't want to underestimate her, he knew this fight would likely be over quickly.

Rin stepped back, observing the situation closely. Her eyes narrowed slightly, as if she wasn't entirely convinced this was a good idea, but she kept quiet.

"Ready?" Choka asked, her fists clenched.

"Ready," Leo replied calmly.

With that, the fight began. Choka charged at Leo with surprising speed, aiming a flurry of punches his way. Leo dodged easily, his movements smooth and effortless. It didn't take long for him to realize that Choka, despite her determination, was no match for him in terms of strength and skill.

After a few more dodges and blocks, Leo decided to end the fight. In one swift motion, he sidestepped Choka's next attack and delivered a quick, controlled strike to her side, sending her stumbling backward. She fell to the ground, gasping for breath.

The crowd murmured in awe, but Leo didn't feel triumphant. The fight had been too easy, and now Choka looked devastated. He approached her cautiously, extending a hand to help her up.

"You fought well," Leo said, trying to offer some encouragement. "But it's over."

Choka stared at his hand for a moment, her pride clearly wounded. She hesitated before accepting his help, standing up slowly. "I... I failed..." she muttered under her breath, her voice filled with shame. "I lost... in front of everyone..."

Before Leo could offer any more words of comfort, something unexpected happened.

Choka, unable to bear the weight of her defeat, suddenly lunged at Leo from behind, her face twisted with desperation. "I can't let it end like this!" she shouted, aiming a wild punch at his back.

But Leo, with his heightened senses, easily dodged the attack. However, in her reckless attempt, Choka's fist caught the edge of Leo's belt, slicing it cleanly off.

For a split second, everything was silent. Leo, not realizing what had happened, looked around in confusion. But Choka, her eyes wide with shock, stared directly at his waist. Slowly, her face turned a bright shade of red.

"Y-Y-Y-Your...!" Choka stammered, pointing at Leo's waist as if she couldn't form the words.

Leo, still clueless, looked down. His eyes widened in horror when he saw his pants hanging precariously low, held up by nothing more than gravity and sheer luck. Panic set in as he hurriedly grabbed the waistband to prevent them from falling completely.

But the damage was already done.

Choka, still frozen in place, began mumbling incoherently. "I... can't believe... under Mary's name... I... saw..." Her eyes rolled back, and before anyone could react, she fainted on the spot, collapsing in a heap.

Leo was still holding his pants up, his face burning with embarrassment. He glanced around quickly, trying to assess the situation. Most of the crowd was too shocked to react, but then he heard a familiar voice behind him.

"Leo?" Rin's voice was sharp and suspicious.

Oh no.

Leo turned slowly, still clutching his pants. Rin stood there, her face a mix of confusion, annoyance, and something bordering on disbelief. From her perspective, it looked like Leo had done something... unspeakable to Choka.

"This... isn't what it looks like," Leo blurted out quickly, raising one hand in defense while using the other to hold his pants. "I swear, this was an accident!"

Rin's eyes narrowed. "An accident? With her passed out on the ground and you... holding your pants?"

Leo gulped. This was not going to end well.

Rin's expression darkened as she took a step forward, her hand twitching as if she was ready to draw her weapon. "You pervert!" she yelled, her voice echoing across the school grounds.

"No, wait! I didn't do anything!" Leo protested, quickly backing away.

But Rin wasn't having any of it. She lunged at him, clearly intending to teach him a lesson.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Leo shouted as he turned and ran, his pants still barely held up by his hand. The crowd erupted into laughter as Rin chased after him, her voice filled with rage.

"You'll pay for this, Leo!" Rin shouted, her sword drawn as she pursued him around the grounds.

"I didn't do anything!" Leo yelled, dodging and weaving between students, desperately trying to escape.

Behind them, Choka remained unconscious, completely forgotten in the chaos. The students laughed, some even pulling out their phones to record the scene as Rin chased Leo around the grounds like a wild animal.

By the time Leo made it to class, he was out of breath, and his pants were finally secure again. He collapsed into his seat, exhausted, while Rin stood in the doorway, glaring at him with barely contained fury.

The rest of the students filed in slowly, casting amused glances at Leo. They had clearly heard about—or witnessed—the morning's events.

"Why does this always happen to me?" Leo muttered under his breath, resting his head on the desk.

But at least the day was off to an eventful start. Hopefully, the rest of it would be a little more peaceful.
