Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 - Gustavo's Past Revealed

During dinner, the conversation flows smoothly and pleasantly. Gustavo, who previously seemed distant due to his imposing presence, now shows himself to be someone approachable, humble and quite down to earth, something that charms Kendall's friends even more. He answers each question with a sincere smile and patience, which only reinforces his simplicity, despite his impressive history.

After a few dishes, the curiosity of Kendall's friends begins to increase. Justin is the first to bring up the subject with a direct question:

"Man, Kendall mentioned that you had a career in the Special Forces. That must have been a crazy experience. What was that like?"

Gustavo, with his calm and discreet manner, smiles before answering:

"Yeah, I had some intense experiences, but I can't go into too much detail. Many of the missions I participated in are confidential."

Hailey, intrigued, asks:

"But can you tell me something? There must be some stories that are not so secret, right?"

Gustavo pauses, thinking about what he could share without compromising any sensitive information.

"Well, I can tell you a little about the training I did around the world. I had the opportunity to train with military forces from different countries, from the British to the Israelis and Australians. Each place has a unique style of training, and each elite force has its own specialty. One of the most fascinating parts was seeing how each culture approaches extreme situations in different ways."

The group listens attentively, visibly fascinated. Gigi asks:

"And what were the most incredible places you've visited on missions?"

"Oh, it's hard to choose" — Gustavo answers, with a sparkle in his eyes as he remembers. — "I've been to some of the most remote places in the world, some inaccessible to most people. One of my favorites was Iceland. It's a surreal place, with stunning landscapes, and the mission there was one of the most peaceful I've ever had. I've also been to Africa on several operations, and I saw the wild beauty and the daily struggle of many communities."

Kendall, who had been just listening and watching, smiles as she sees how much Gustavo is connecting with his friends. She knows how reserved he can be about his past, but seeing that he is comfortable enough to share these moments makes her even more enchanted.

As the night goes on, as Gustavo shares his stories, Kendall's friends begin to realize how fascinating the life he has lived is. Even without revealing confidential details, the stories he tells are enough to give everyone a new perspective on life and the world.

Bella, in awe, comments:

"It must be incredible to have seen so much of the world and lived so many intense experiences. I can't imagine what it must be like to go back to a normal life after all that."

Gustavo smiles, slightly nostalgic:

"Yeah, the transition wasn't easy. But I think that's what makes me appreciate the simple things now. Running with Kendall, being with people who make you feel alive... It's invaluable."
