Junjie (Part-3)
A chill runs down my spine. Something's off. Jianyu's grin is way too smug, and Shishi's usual calm demeanor has an edge of amusement to it. My gut is screaming at me, warning me of an impending interrogation. Silly, Jun, weren't you suspecting this from the start? They're not here to surprise you. They're here to bust your ass and drag you back to Imperial City.
"Where's Z?" I ask, wondering why he didn't warn me ahead of time. Typical Zian.
Jianyu's grin widens. "Babysitting."
Silent prayers for Z. The kids he's babysitting are little monsters from hell. But that jerk deserves it. Let him suffer.
"So, Jun—" Jianyu throws a heavy arm around my shoulder, his smirk widening as if he's about to sink his claws in deeper. "Where's Yiren? Don't tell me you're here alone."
