Am I seriously supposed to break into the forensic lab all by myself?" I asked, my voice laced with disbelief.
"Yes," Eagle replied nonchalantly, sipping his morning tea as if what he'd just said was the most reasonable suggestion in the world.
I stared at him, searching his face for any hint that this was some twisted joke. But no. His expression was unreadable, calm, and steady—just like always.
I felt a flicker of annoyance rise in me. "Do you even realize how insane that sounds?"
He raised his eyebrows slightly, as if challenging me to elaborate. I threw up my hands in frustration. "How the hell am I supposed to break in, find a blind spot, steal whatever it is you want me to steal, and come out without being noticed by anyone? Do you think I have superpowers or something?"
Eagle's silence was maddening. He simply took another slow sip of his tea, the steam curling lazily in the air between us.
