Chapter 1 - Black of Darkness

The colour which represents unknown. The colour devouring everything.

Black.

Darkness colour? No one knows, but whenever one confront it, black was all the answer they got.

A place bathed in this black, where wisps of something unknown, flowing and illuminating the lone and solemn aspect.

The eerie place devoid of any voice of a living, uttered its first incomprehensible living sound.

"... ah..wh...m..."

In the heart of this place's black darkness, a silhouette of a figure could be seen on the backdrop of flowing wisps.

His figure clad in gruesome wounds.

Bandage strips could be seen wrapped around him and flowing with the unknown wisps.

Something of carnage crimson could be seen shimmering between the wraps. As if a strange power was boiling and fuming inside him.

The figure, still up to now, stirred or tried to.

The gruesome wounds made him uttered his first words of pain. Enduring the gruesome agony, the crimson dark figure stood.

Trembling visible throughout his body.

As he stood, the enduring pain brought out his strong will to never back down. Walking in the black darkness, confusion could be seen lighting in his eyes.

His confused eyes looked around for something.

His steps never stopping for a moment. When his steps and wandering eyes stopped, it was at a strange column standing in the black Darkness.

The figure raised his hand to grab something in the darkness, but stopped as if he too was unsure what he was doing. Steeling himself and trusting his unknown instincts.

He continued his motion.

It landed on the column. As his hand touched it, strange incomprehensible symbols started to glow one by one, as if a wildfire was spreading from the tip to the bottom.

The violet symbols illuminated the surroundings.

When all the violet symbols brighten up, a strange violet wisps arose from the now recognisable black sword, travelled through the hand and absorbed in the dark crimson figure.

The shimmering carnage crimson, between the wraps turned into a mysterious violet. Bathing the figure in a mystical kind of light.

As he raised his eyes, mystical violet burning fiercely in them, confusion and hesitation burning with them.

In its place, only a strong intent and longing remained.

He turned around, slowly. Dark mystical violet shimmering in between the wraps, now. He raised the dark sword glowing with a mysterious light and slashed in the black darkness.

A strange cut opened in the black darkness. Through it, white of light could be seen, entering and chasing away the black darkness surrounding the dark violet figure.

He stepped through the cut and disappeared in the blinding light. Leaving behind the dark eerie place, now containing the light of hope shining through the cut.

***

A place far away from any civilization, where any hint of a living soul was covered in pure white. Land filled with snow, water turned stark ice and wind suffused with frosty bites.

In this type of a frozen hell, where any living being would think numerous times to even imagine to come. There, a myriad of living souls could be found, marching through the sea of snow.

"This is hell! What are we even doing here?!"

"Shh! Don't shout, you meathead!"

"Shut up! You bootlicker!"

In the march of living, frustration, irritation and annoyance could be heard in the voices of some people. Traversing on the edge of sanity and insanity.

"Ahh… I know you are frustrated but it's only been one day since we began this journey."

"I am not frustrated because of this journey but… not knowing the reason why?!"

Sitting side by side, on a large sledge pulled by animals, which seemed wolves but larger in size and strength.

"No one knows the reason. Our only job is: to transport this supplies, return back, get our money and enjoy!"

"I didn't want to come… but the pay is really nice…"

"Right! The only problem is the rumours… whether they are really true or not."

"What rumours?"

"Oh, yeah! You are forced to come here so, you don't know. Well... "

The man motioned the other man to come closer, as if to whisper secrets, not to be heard by others.

"...Rumor has it, they found something ancient and mysterious in the ice. People who came back said there was something—an inhuman presence—calling to them. I didn't believe them at first, but everyone kept saying the same thing. So, my curiosity got the better of me. And here I am."

"Your curiosity or your greed?"

"Both are the same thing."

"You will never… ahh, forget it. How much longer untill we get there?"

"In few minutes."

There was a shocked expression on the other man's face.

"Heh, shocked. Right?"

"Yeah. I thought it would take a few days."

"It would've. If we'd followed the old path."

"They made a whole new path? It seems they must have really found something amazing."

As the two man chatted with each other. Their march came to an end.

In the distance, numerous tents could be seen. Soldiers patrolling left and right. Further ahead, workers could be found with the constant sound of breaking ice behind them.

A great hole could be found in the center of the temporary establishment.

A hole in the ice or… a passage to an unknown realm.

As the supplies were taken down from sledges, suddenly vibrations could be felt in the snow. Before anyone could compose themselves, it stopped. As people were exhaling sigh of relief, a sudden tremor went through the land, catching them off-guard.

With the tremor came a screeching sound, from deep within the land.

When people were busy to compose themselves, a sight out of bounds of reality shattered their remaining attempts.

A pillar of white light.

Coming from the deep reaches of the hole. Travelling the far above clouds, maybe reaching the heaven too.

Attracting everyone's attention, throughout the world.
