Chapter 52 - A hill of human bones

Human skulls and bones were scattered across the area—dozens - no, uncountable. The bones were beginning to turn to dust, suggesting they had been there for far longer than just 10 or even 20 years. Under typical conditions, bones can take several decades to begin decaying into dust.

Factors such as moisture, soil composition, and temperature can accelerate this process. In dry climates, bones may remain intact for centuries, while in moist environments, they can decompose much faster, breaking down into fragile fragments and eventually dust. The sight before her indicated that these bones had been lying here for many years - perhaps even decades.
