Chereads / (HIATUS) Tower of God: Narrow Eyes / Chapter 7 - Special Game (1)

Chapter 7 - Special Game (1)

A/N: I've just realized that I accidentally kinda confused the narrowed eyed trope with another trope when writing "Shiyoon." Narrowed eyed characters are polite to every one they meet, act in eerie ways, and only show emotions when their ever smiling face changes ever so slightly. The more their expression changes, the more power they release. I've mostly fixed it in my head now, but do know that "Shiyoon's" way of speaking might change a little.

"Congratulations Ms. Zahard on being the first to pass this test."

So... he was now just completely ignoring me.

To be fair though, I had caused him a lot of trouble, so I kind of deserved it.

But he had started it in the first place too.

Anyways, it didn't really matter to me. He could go rot in a cave for all I cared. What mattered now was whether we were going to be introduced to the other testing group now or later.

If it was now, it'd just be obnoxious as we'd be met with a lot of curiosity and animosity, so I would prefer it if we were only introduced to the testing group that we'd be joining right before the start of the next test.

Therein, I'd be able to reveal some strength "accidentally" and deter potential aggressors.

"Will we be joining the other testing group now, or before the start of the next test, Sir Blake?"

And would you look at that, he decided to completely ignore me.

Before my smile could get a little wider though, Maschenny intervened.

"Tester Blake, please answer Shiyoon's question."

'Hmm?'

I was curious, but decided to just let it play out.

"You'll be introduced to them at the start of the special game."

Before I could ask him anything else, he continued,

"I'm sorry, but I need to head back to the camera room. The other groups first team has just passed the test, and they'll need extra hands."

It was obviously an excuse, but I couldn't really do anything about it and so we just watched as he teleported away.

Seeing as there was nothing else to do I headed to the vending machine at the far end of the cafeteria(?). [A/N: A place identical to where purple scout dude gave Bam that drink and explained the point system to him.]

"Visible mode."

Turning on my pocket, the first thing I checked was the amount of points I now currently possessed.

'10 million points?'

Although I didn't know that much about how much things cost in this world, I did remember a tidbit in the original manhwa that had stated that 100 million points was enough for one to retire and live out the rest of their days in the middle floors of the tower whilst still being filthy rich to the end.

So 1/10 of that sum was already a ridiculous amount of money.

'It seems like I won't have to worry that much about money for the foreseeable future.'

Looking at the options in the vending machine, I immediately singled out the hot tea in the machine and bought it.

After taking it out of the machine, I walked to the closest table near me, sat down, and started sipping my tea.

And boy did it do wonders for my spirit.

Seeing as to how Tower of God had been written by a fellow earthling, some of the comforts that us civilized people had had transferred over here.

This single can of hot tea was both figuratively and literally warming up my soul right now.

"Ding! The test had been completed."

It had been a timed test after all, and so at this point, all regulars had either left their version of the cabin already or they had died in it.

"All you regulars will now have a choice to make. You can either take the next special test, wherein you will be guaranteed a position in the final test of this floor, or, you can leave it up to us to choose who gets to stay for the training and final tests."

I knew that I was already pretty much guaranteed a spot due to my high shinsu resistance that I had showcased earlier, but I was also pretty interested in what the special game was going to be like.

After all, out of all the tests that Bam had to go through in climbing the tower, I was only able to remember the crown game with a degree of detail.

Finishing my tea, I walked over and elegantly dropped it in a trash can before moving towards Maschenny.

"Ms. Maschenny, are you thinking of participating in this "special test?'"

I already knew her answer from her face alone, yet I still asked out of politeness.

"We WILL be participating in this test." She replied, leaving no room for any questions.

Welp, that was that, and so I slumped back in a chair.

Now, you might be wondering why I hadn't tried busting out any shinsu yet. After all, Headon had already implanted all the knowledge I would ever need on the basics inside my head, and to that, I'd say that you're a dumb, stupid fuck.

Blake had literally mentioned that there was a camera room, meaning that the testers were always watching.

Currently, I was an anomaly in their eyes. I probably had no records in the tower, so how could a nobody in the tower use shinsu?

As for my shinsu resistance, welp, that could just be chalked up to my "incredible talent," although I doubted that they fully believed that.

But there was literally nothing else they could believe in.

Who would ever suspect little ol' me of being an irregular?

Anyways, time quickly passed and finally, Blake appeared in front of us again.

"I'll be taking you to your next testing site now, Ms. Zahard."

Thus, with a snap of his finger, we were off.

~~~
"Welcome to the site of the special test hereby known as the "Gladiator Game!'"
Once again opening my eyes to some dude fucking my eardrums, I couldn't help but sigh in exasperation.
"The rules of the game are simple."
Because I was too tired to repeat everything the announcer, presumable another tester, said, I just summarized the point in my head.
1. This game will consist of a total of 10 rounds.
2. Each round will have a single "enemy."
3. All teams can join all rounds to their liking.
4. The objective of each round is to kill the "enemy."
5. Each progressive round will contain an "enemy" harder to defeat than that of the last.
6. Only the team that lands the last hit on the "enemy" will be given points for that round.
7. Your team will earn 1 point for being the winners of round one, 2 points for being the winners of round 2, all the way to 10 points for being the winners of round 10.
8. There will be a 5 minute break between each round.
9. The team with the most points in the end will win the "Gladiator Game."
"Any questions?" The tester asked.
Yet, before anybody even had the chance to make any actions, the tester said,
"Let the game begin!"
