Before receiving Wade's message, Harry had been in the library with Hermione, studying weather charms. It was an extremely difficult spell, and after just a few minutes, Harry's head was already spinning.
However, Hermione continued studying intently, leaving Harry no choice but to force himself to keep reading the complicated text.
He found that every time he finished reading a couple of sentences, the information would quickly fade from his mind, forcing him to go back and read it all over again…
Over half an hour passed, and Hermione had filled several pages with notes, while Harry was still on his first page.
Wade's message felt like a lifesaver. Eagerly, Harry jumped to his feet, packed his things, and hurried off.
Hermione was a step behind, she hastily returned the books before she rushed to catch up with him.
When they arrived at the entrance to the Gryffindor common room, they found Wade leaning against the wall and staring intently at a folded piece of parchment, focused on something unknown.
"Wade, you said there was something important?" Harry asked.
"Yeah, just a second…"
Wade gestured for him to stay quiet and continued watching the parchment for a moment. Suddenly, he pointed his wand forward, and a large, sticky mud pit appeared in the middle of the hallway.
"You little rascal! What do you think you're doing? Get rid of that, immediately!" the Fat Lady shrieked.
"Wade, what are you doing?" Hermione covered her face and exclaimed, "Professor McGonagall is definitely going to take points off for this!"
"Don't worry, I'll remove it in a moment," Wade replied. "Harry, go ahead and say the password."
Harry was baffled. He hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to trust his friend.
After all, even if someone stepped into the mud, a quick cleaning charm could fix it.
Is Wade planning some kind of prank? Harry couldn't help but wonder, noting that Wade was taking this prank awfully seriously…
With a jumble of thoughts in his head, Harry stood beside the mud pit and spoke to the Fat Lady, "Fire Salamander."
"Make him get rid of that mess! Get rid of it!" the Fat Lady continued to shriek.
"I've given the password, Fat Lady! You need to open the door," Harry said in a firm tone.
The portrait finally opened, and the Fat Lady tried to shrink to the edge of the painting, as if terrified that the mud might touch her.
The next moment, a blurred shadow shot out from the door and fell straight into the mud pit. It squealed with high-pitched "squeak-squeak" sounds as it struggled in the muck.
"Scabbers?" Harry exclaimed in surprise.
He was about to pull Ron's rat out of the mud when the person next to him rapidly cast a series of spells:
"Petrificus Totalus! Stupefy! Incarcerous!" (Full Body-Bind Curse, Stunning Spell, Incarcerous Spell)
The rat, struck by the spells one after another, lay unconscious and was now bound tightly with ropes.
Wade used a Levitation Charm to lift it out of the mud just as several others burst out from the common room behind him—Fred, George, Percy, and Ron.
Hermione's eyes widened, and she was unable to figure out how so many people had scrambled out of the door in such a short time.
Ron, who was the last to come out, tripped over Percy and then crashed into Fred, finally rolled into the mud pit and shouted angrily, "Damn it! What on earth is going on?"
"Where did this mud pit come from?" Percy shouted furiously, "I'm giving you all detention!"
"He escaped! Wade—oh, you caught him?" Fred's voice was filled with delight.
"Really?" George tried to lift his head from under his brother's elbow and called out, "Be careful, he's as slippery as Peeves!"
Ginny, who had remained in the common room doorway, had luckily avoided the mud pit. She leaned over the entrance and laughed at the misfortune of her brothers.
"What's going on?" Harry asked, utterly confused.
Noticing him, Ginny let out a small shriek and quickly ducked back into the common room, disappearing from sight.
Wade had already taken care of the rat. He slipped the jar with the captured rat into his bag, then glanced down at the tangled and mud-covered Weasleys, all stuck together and unable to get up. With a deep sigh, he muttered to himself.
Alright… this is Gryffindor…
He cleared the mud pit with a Vanishing Spell and then used a Cleaning Charm to remove the mud from the Weasleys, who finally managed to disentangle themselves and stand up.
Percy, who straightened his robes with a scowl, was practically steaming with anger. He glared icily at everyone involved and said, "You'd better have a good explanation for this!"
"Never mind that now! Where's Scabbers? What did you do with him?" Ron demanded.
Harry and Hermione exchanged confused glances, clearly baffled by the situation.
Fred and George, however, locked eyes with Wade. "Are you sure it's him?"
"Yes," Wade confirmed.
Wade nodded and then said to the others, "This isn't the place to talk. Let's go to the Umbrella Room to explain."
"Alright," Harry and Hermione, the eager onlookers, responded immediately.
In fact, other students had already begun gathering to watch the commotion.
Percy, with a frosty expression, stood unmoving, until the twins started pushing him forward.
"Once you've heard the whole story, if you still think we're in the wrong, feel free to report us to Mom," Fred said smugly. "But I guarantee that you—and little Ronny here—will thank us."
Scabbers was actually Percy's pet first. After Ron started school, Percy passed the rat along to him.
Percy had originally intended to give the rat to their youngest sister, Ginny, but she couldn't bring herself to keep an aging rat as a pet, so it ended up with Ron instead.
Thinking about this, Fred and George felt a chill of fear.
The Ministry of Magic strictly regulates Animagi, requiring all Animagi to register their animal forms with the Ministry. Living among wizards in an unregistered Animagus form is considered a serious crime due to past incidents involving similar deceptions.
The group, still jostling and arguing, made their way toward the Umbrella Room, while Ron kept shouting angrily, "Whatever you're going to say, just give Scabbers back to me first!"
"No way, Ron," Fred refused firmly. "He'll escape."
"If you'd just stop chasing him, he wouldn't be running around!" Ron yelled back. "You've scared him half to death!"
"We're the ones who got a fright, you know?" George replied impatiently. "Just listen to our reasons before arguing. Can you stop acting like a child?"
Ron's face went pale with anger.
Suddenly, a sharp cat's yowl echoed nearby, and the twins jumped instinctively, shouting, "Filch!"
Sure enough, Filch appeared, breathing heavily as he glared at them. He gave the students a cold look and searched for contraband, then asked, "Fighting?"
"Nope!" Fred wrapped an arm around Percy's neck and used his other hand to ruffle Ron's hair. "Just a friendly exchange between brothers!"
Percy and Ron, both still simmering with anger, turned their heads away and said nothing.
