Last night, Wade asked in the Book of friends, and Michael, Neville, Hermione, and Theo all said they would come. Padma asked if she could bring her sister.
Ryan and his family were traveling to Italy and would not be back for a few days. As for Harry, he hadn't sent a message.
Green flames rose, and the group arrived one after another.
At school, they were used to seeing each other in black uniforms, but now everyone was in casual clothes, creating a fresh visual experience.
The Patil sisters, in particular, stood out. They were dressed in gorgeous long gowns with light makeup. Their wrists and necks were adorned with glittering gold jewelry, making them dazzlingly beautiful. Their figures were graceful and elegant.
"Good morning! Hope we're not late," the sisters said in unison.
The Patil sisters were already very pretty, and being twins only amplified their charm several times over.
Michael had been leaning by the window, watching the animals outside. Upon hearing the voices, he practically flashed to the fireplace, gracefully raising his hand in greeting.
"No, we just arrived as well," he said happily.
"Miss Patil and Miss Patil, welcome to Granian Farm," said Steven, before turning to look at Wade with a slight eyebrow raise.
Wade understood perfectly what he meant—
Such beautiful girls, why aren't you making a move?
Wade shook his head.
Steven was probably so used to his dad pressuring him to get married that he'd taken on a bit of a matchmaker's role himself.
Neville stepped out from the fireplace, exhaling deeply in relief.
"My gran almost didn't let me come," he said with lingering fear. "But after she heard that the top two students in our year would be here, she changed her mind."
Theo arrived, but before he could speak, the Patil sisters suddenly gasped in surprise.
"What's wrong?"
Everyone thought the sisters were under attack and rushed over to see.
"My necklace and earrings are gone!" Padma said, touching her now bare earlobes.
"And my bracelet and hairpin," Parvati added in panic. "It feels like they just vanished in an instant!"
Steven immediately understood what had happened.
"It's a Niffler," he said helplessly. "These little guys love shiny things. Don't worry, I'll get them back for you."
He whistled, and a crup (dog with a forked tail) came running over, sitting upright like a soldier.
Steven petted its ears and whispered something to it, and the dog quickly ran off.
A short while later, it returned, carrying a blue-black Niffler in its mouth, which looked a bit like a platypus.
The dog wagged its tail vigorously, its face was full of pride, as if asking for praise.
Steven took the Niffler and patted the dog's head. "Good boy."
"Is this a Niffler?" Parvati asked curiously, staring at the small creature. "But I don't see any jewelry! Did it hide them in a burrow?"
Steven explained, "This is a Cornish Niffler, different from the Irish ones. It has a magical pouch in its belly—watch!"
He held the Niffler upside down by its hind legs and gave it a shake. The Patil sisters' gold jewelry tumbled out, along with some bird snake eggshells, golden cutlery, and a few shiny stones.
When the little creature was put back on the ground, it looked extremely upset. With teary eyes, it began scooping up all the random items, then turned and scurried away.
"I think you should put your jewelry away," Michael advised. "Otherwise, the Niffler might steal it again at any time."
Suddenly, Theo exclaimed, "Look, it's fairies!"
Everyone turned to look.
At first glance, it seemed like a swarm of dragonflies fluttering among the flowers. But upon closer inspection, they realized that besides their colorful wings, they had the appearance of miniature humans.
The delicate-looking creatures wore clothes made of petals and grass leaves, busily flying around. Occasionally, they would land on leaves, as if taking a break.
Everyone held their breath, not daring to even exhale, afraid of scaring the fairies away.
One fairy, seemingly drawn by a scent, flew toward Padma. After circling her twice, it landed on Theo's finger instead.
"Merlin's beard…"
Parvati let out a sigh of disappointment.
Theo looked in awe at the green-haired fairy perched on his finger. It was holding a tiny wand, and as it flew, golden and red sparks occasionally shot from the tip.
Another fairy with transparent wings flew over. The two communicated with a low buzzing sound, and moments later, they flew off together.
Theo stared at his finger, feeling a sense of loss.
"Some wizards use fairies as decorative ornaments, casting spells to fix them onto lamp posts or Christmas trees," Steven said with a touch of sympathy. "But I think... they're more beautiful when they're free to fly."
"Fixed onto lampposts?" Padma asked. "Can they still live like that?"
"Some people release the fairies after they're done with them… but not everyone is willing to do that," Steven replied.
"Do they feel pain?" Theo asked softly.
"Fairies are generally thought to have low intelligence, with minds comparable to insects," Steven explained. "But every living creature can feel pain, can't they? It's just that arrogant wizards can't empathize with their suffering."
These words left the young wizards in quiet reflection, each feeling a bit moved.
Hermione arrived later in the afternoon, looking worried.
"Have any of you been in touch with Harry lately?" she asked the group.
They exchanged glances and shook their heads.
"It seems like Harry hasn't opened his Book of Friends at all," Hermione said with concern. "I even rented an owl to send him a letter, but he hasn't replied. Ron hasn't heard anything from him either…"
"Could something have happened to Harry?" Theo asked with a frown.
"Maybe he's been locked up by his Muggle relatives," Michael said, surprisingly guessing the truth. "I always knew he wasn't being treated well!"
"Locked up? Muggles would dare do that to him?" Parvati exclaimed in shock, then suggested, "Why don't we all go check on him?"
"Yeah! It could be a group activity!" Michael said excitedly.
"No!" Wade quickly stopped them. "Having so many of us show up in a Muggle neighborhood would be too conspicuous. I'll go check on him myself."
"What can a kid like you do?" Steven said. "I'll go with you."
"I want to go too!" Hermione added. "I'm really worried."
"There's no need!" Wade, seeing Theo about to speak up as well, firmly refused. "And I'm not going alone… I'll ask Remus to come with me."
"Him?" Steven frowned at first, then seemed to realize something. "Oh… Remus Lupin. I remember he was a close friend of James Potter."
When James Potter started school, Steven was already about to graduate. They weren't in the same house and didn't know each other personally, but the famous Marauders were well-known at the school, and Steven had heard their names and stories.
If Harry Potter was truly in danger or being mistreated by Muggles, then Remus Lupin, as his father's friend and an elder, would be the most appropriate person to step in.
