Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

[ Creepy and meaningless words,

I ate them; they are so painful. Oh, that were swords...]

"I should search this room, just like my parents did." Her dad was a professional who was successfully scanning all apartments and rooms of the hotel where they were living. That was an action of safety. His father did more than once such weird things as hidden cameras in his bedroom, new houses, and even the bathroom. That was why Dana knew how to find them, even if it could be hidden in the remotest places of the room.

Girl stood up and began to slowly walk around the room, running her hand along the walls. Green eyes were turning from one wall to another, from one corner to the opposite. And by then, she continued to search. Suddenly, Dana stopped at one point. It was the upper part of the mirror; among the so-called small bulbs, there was one that was different .They were all built-in, but the shape of this "light bulb" was slightly strange. That was one camera, and ironically, the mirror itself stood at the corner from which could be seen a bed, a table, and part of a door. Since the mirror was located on one side of the wall as the door of the bathroom, the bathroom stayed invisible for this camera. "Then I should find others in those parts of the room where this camera cannot see." That was something that Dana learned from her father.

Always find something that you need in places where it was invisible for everybody.

Ten minutes later . Tuesday 15:30

Dana found two more cameras in the room, one at the top of the tall shelf and one another at the top of the bathroom door with the view to the bed straight. Hopefully , she didn't find anything in the bathroom. From this time, her restroom would be her "safe place" from everyone in this world, besides her imagination.

Someone knocked sharply on her door. Dana looked back and asked who was there.

- Mister Bess, your grandfather wants to see you this dinner.

His voice was so serious, and words heard like an order, not a suggestion .

Oh, I will be down in about five minutes.

She said it with some kind of curiosity, since Dana wanted to know what else her grandfather could tell her. However, it wasn't a lie; the girl really starved but even didn't notice it.

The long table was as enormous as the quantity of food that was there. Just the feeling of the emptiness stuck at the neck . Black curly hair was removed back for convenience and a sense of beauty . She did that not for this old man or for people, workers, just for her own self. For understanding that she was continuing to live.

Silent.

At the table sitting, only two persons were looking at each other; only one was eating, and another was looking at how he was eating. Who among two of them was a player, who was a ruler? Girl and granddad, a user and "naive" sheep. There are so many adjectives and words to describe their relationship, but the former one was unsuitable. It could be four of them. Turning face to the left, Dana saw a mom, to the left - a dad, looked ahead; saw herself.

Me?

-Dana, what's happened?

His words interrupt her from thinking and making up an alternative reality. "What it was?". She didn't get it herself, at the opposite side of Dana.

-Mhm,just have a question.

Words rolled off her tongue like butter on a knife; her gaze looked clearly at the place where she saw herself and involuntarily, as if without thinking :

-What is wrong with me, grandpa?

There was nobody but she, Thompson, and Bess Teblur staying from behind the granddaughter.

-W-what do you mean?

Heartbeat was something that he could hear in his ears.

-Why are there cameras....I mean, in my room?

Nervously breathed Dana ,at her head, she did not expect from herself such a brave question, especially while playing such a serious "role." . "Then, what will you tell me?" . She was so interested in his answer that she didn't even notice how the mask of the "confused" girl began to fly off her face.

-How did you know about them?

Not bad, but she was ready with making up an excuse:

-I, i just I realized that I could find them, as if I had done it before ...

Oh no. Dana realized how foolish she was by even asking this question. Because later, Thompson could make her condition much worse than right now. Having given in to her feelings, she clearly put up with possible consequences. Just imagining much worse "overparenting" than just simple cameras, not allowing her to go outside, and similar situations that squeezing her freedom.

-It's just for your safety.

He said it was like something usual for families to have cameras in private rooms.

Dinner ended by asking to make an excursion for Dana around and inside the house. Mister Bess was conducting her at first inside the house. As long as they were wondering around, he was talking simultaneously:

-See, there is a kitchen, and at the north side of the house is a little backyard for celebrating different events and special days. We have a hall on the ground floor with a library, sofas and a TV. As you remember, on the second floor there are mostly rooms and a big balcony. You are living at the third; your grandfather is at the second; he also had his office there. Outside... On the western side there is a little garden; on the eastern side a pool, garage, and other stuff.

Bess looked at his clocks and said that it was a time for a rest for her, and he was going to go to his master.

His eyes still looked at Dana with disgust and with a feeling of thirst to take away her memory with the locations of the treasure. To stop it, she clapped by eyelashes and said, "Good night." She closed a door right under his nose. That was a really long day.

-Do I really have to pretend like this every day? Oh, that was me who started this game, but I am already tired of it.

White walls . Dana was sitting in the bath with water running down her body. Hair became wetter and wetter. Was there anything that could be harder than pretending to be a girl without any memories?Losing everybody, but not herself.

-Maybe, i will ....

Thinking about today's "vision" in front of her proves that she wouldn't even be able to control herself. Or she exaggerated it too seriously? There could be lots of suggestions about it. Hands squeezed shoulders in hopes of hiding from the truth, and the water enveloped the body.Dana did not feel happiness or angriness. Like a canvas without any bright colors, only dark

one or grey.

-How to escape?...
