Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The night air was thick with the scent of blood as Yuno silently crept through the shadows of the alleyway. His hands gripped the hilts of his twin silver short swords, ready to strike at a moment's notice. As he rounded the corner, he froze at the sight before him.

A vampire, her pale skin gleaming in the moonlight, was hunched over a lifeless body. But something was off. Instead of the usual predatory glee, the creature's shoulders shook with quiet sobs.

Drusilla's voice, hoarse and filled with anguish, barely carried through the stillness. "I'm so sorry... please forgive me... I didn't want to do this... my urges make me..."

She hadn't noticed Yuno yet, too consumed by her own torment. Her long, dark hair fell in messy waves, partially obscuring her bloodstained face.

Yuno's grip on his swords tightened, his jaw clenching with hatred. To him, this display of emotion was nothing but a trick, a ploy to lure in sympathetic prey. He had seen too many of his fellow hunters fall for such deceptions. Without hesitation, he prepared to strike, ready to eliminate another bloodsucking monster from this world.

In a blur of motion, Yuno burst from his hiding spot. His speed, far beyond that of ordinary humans or even most hunters, propelled him towards the unsuspecting vampire. The twin silver blades gleamed in the dim light as he closed the distance in mere heartbeats.

Drusilla's keen senses finally alerted her to the danger, but Yuno's supernatural quickness caught even her off guard. She barely had time to look up, her tearstained face morphing from sorrow to shock as the hunter bore down on her with lethal intent.

The vampire's crimson eyes widened as she instinctively leapt backward, her preternatural reflexes barely saving her from Yuno's first slash. The silver blade whistled through the air where her throat had been just a fraction of a second earlier.

Drusilla hissed, fangs bared, her earlier vulnerability replaced by a feral defensive stance. "Hunter," she spat, her voice a mix of fear and anger. "I mean you no harm!"

But Yuno wasn't interested in words. His curseenhanced abilities surged through him, driving him forward with relentless purpose. He pressed his advantage, silver blades flashing in a deadly dance as he forced the vampire to retreat further into the alley.

The narrow space echoed with the clash of metal against stone as Drusilla narrowly evaded each strike, her movements a blur of desperate grace. Blood from her recent feed still stained her lips, a stark reminder to Yuno of the monster he faced.

Drusilla's back hit the alley wall, her eyes darting frantically for an escape route. Yuno's relentless assault had her cornered, his silver blades a constant threat. She hissed, fangs bared in a mixture of fear and defiance.

"Wait!" she pleaded, desperation clear in her voice. "I'm not like the others!"

Yuno's expression remained cold, his movements precise and deadly. He lunged forward, aiming for a killing blow. At the last second, Drusilla ducked, causing one of Yuno's blades to embed itself in the brick wall.

Taking advantage of the momentary opening, Drusilla darted to the side, her supernatural speed allowing her to put some distance between them. She turned to face Yuno, her stance now more defensive than fleeready.

"I don't want to fight you," she said, her voice steadier now. "But I will defend myself if I must."

Yuno wrenched his blade free from the wall, bits of brick clattering to the ground. His eyes never left the vampire, watching for any sign of attack. The air between them crackled with tension, both supernatural beings poised on a knife's edge.

Drusilla's eyes darted between Yuno's twin blades, her body tense and ready to move at the slightest provocation. The alley seemed to close in around them, the air thick with the metallic scent of blood and the acrid tang of fear.

"You hunters are all the same," she said, her voice low and bitter. "So quick to judge, so eager to kill. Have you ever stopped to wonder if we're all truly monsters?"

Yuno's grip on his swords tightened, his knuckles white with strain. His eyes, cold and unforgiving, bore into Drusilla's. He had heard these pleas before, had seen vampires try to manipulate their way out of judgment. But he wouldn't fall for it. Not now, not ever.

"Save your breath," he growled, his voice barely above a whisper. "Your kind doesn't deserve mercy."

With that, he lunged forward again, silver blades flashing in the dim light of the alley. Drusilla's eyes widened as she prepared to defend herself once more, the dance of hunter and hunted resuming with deadly intensity.

Drusilla's back pressed against the cold brick wall, her options dwindling with each passing second. Yuno's relentless assault had pushed her into a corner, both literally and figuratively. Her eyes, wide with a mixture of fear and determination, darted frantically between Yuno's twin silver blades.

"You don't understand," she pleaded, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm trying to—"

Her words were cut short as Yuno lunged forward, his blade whistling through the air where her head had been just moments before. Drusilla ducked, feeling the rush of air above her as the sword embedded itself in the brick wall.

Taking advantage of the momentary opening, Drusilla darted to the side, her supernatural speed allowing her to put some distance between them. She turned to face Yuno, her stance now more defensive than fleeready.

"I won't be your victim," she hissed, fangs bared in a mixture of fear and defiance. "But I don't want to hurt you either. Can't you see I'm different?"

Yuno wrenched his blade free from the wall, bits of brick clattering to the ground. His eyes never left the vampire, watching for any sign of attack. The air between them crackled with tension, both supernatural beings poised on a knife's edge.

Yuno's grip on his silver swords tightened, his eyes cold and unforgiving as he faced the cornered vampire. The alley seemed to close in around them, the air thick with tension and the lingering scent of blood.

"Different?" Yuno scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. "I've heard that lie before. You're all the same in the end monsters hiding behind pretty words and false remorse."

He took a calculated step forward, his blades gleaming in the dim light. Drusilla pressed herself further against the wall, her eyes never leaving the deadly silver weapons.

"Please," she whispered, her voice a mixture of desperation and determination. "I'm trying to change. To be better. Can't you see that?"

Yuno's jaw clenched, years of training and bitter experience hardening his resolve. He raised his blades, ready to strike. "A good vampire is a dead vampire," he growled. "And that's exactly what you'll be."

Drusilla's eyes widened as Yuno's blades arced through the air, their silver edges promising a swift and final end. In that split second, her survival instincts kicked in. With preternatural speed, she dropped and rolled, feeling the rush of air as the swords passed just inches above her.

"I won't die here!" she snarled, her earlier pleading tone replaced by fierce determination. As she came out of her roll, she lashed out with her leg, aiming a powerful kick at Yuno's knees.

The narrow alley echoed with the sounds of their deadly dance the clash of metal, the scrape of shoes on concrete, and the ragged breathing of predator and prey locked in mortal combat. The hunt that had begun with a tearful vampire feeding on a corpse had escalated into a lifeordeath struggle, with neither side willing to yield.

Yuno's reflexes, honed by years of hunting, allowed him to leap back just in time to avoid Drusilla's powerful kick. The vampire's foot whistled through the air where his knees had been moments before. Landing with catlike grace, Yuno immediately sprang forward, not giving his opponent a moment to recover.

Drusilla scrambled to her feet, her back pressed against the cold brick wall. Her eyes, now glowing with an eerie red light, darted frantically as she searched for an escape route. The narrow alley offered little room for maneuver, and Yuno's relentless assault left her with few options.

"You're cornered," Yuno growled, his silver blades gleaming menacingly in the dim light. "There's nowhere left to run."

Drusilla's lips curled back in a snarl, revealing her elongated fangs. "Then I guess I have no choice but to fight," she hissed, her earlier pleas for mercy forgotten in the face of imminent death.

The air crackled with tension as hunter and vampire faced each other, both poised on the brink of explosive action. The outcome of their deadly dance hung in the balance, with neither willing to back down.

Yuno's eyes burned with cold determination as he faced Drusilla, his twin silver blades poised for the kill. The vampire's back was against the wall, her earlier pleas replaced by a fierce will to survive.

Suddenly, a dark chuckle echoed through the alley, causing both hunter and hunted to freeze. A tall, imposing figure materialized from the shadows, his presence radiating an aura of ancient power.

"Well, well," the newcomer drawled, his voice smooth as silk yet laced with malice. "What do we have here? Little Drusilla, caught in a hunter's trap?"

Drusilla's eyes widened in recognition and fear. "Lucian," she whispered, her voice trembling.

Yuno's grip on his swords tightened, his senses on high alert. He didn't flinch or back down, instead assessing this new threat with calculating eyes.

Lucian's gaze swept from Drusilla to Yuno, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "Two for the price of one," he mused. "How delightful."

The alley crackled with tension as the three supernatural beings faced each other, the hunt suddenly becoming far more complicated than Yuno had anticipated.

The tension in the alley thickened as Lucian's arrival complicated the standoff. Yuno's eyes darted between the two vampires, his stance unwavering despite the new threat. His silver blades glinted in the dim light, ready to strike at a moment's notice.

Drusilla pressed herself further against the wall, her gaze flickering nervously between Yuno and Lucian. The fear in her eyes seemed to intensify at the sight of the newcomer, hinting at a dark history between them.

Lucian took a step forward, his movement fluid and predatory. "My, my, Drusilla," he purred, his voice dripping with mock concern. "Consorting with hunters now? How far you've fallen."

Yuno remained silent, his mind racing to assess the new dynamics. He kept his blades at the ready, prepared to defend against attacks from either vampire.

The air crackled with supernatural energy as the three beings stood locked in this deadly triangle, each waiting for the others to make the first move.

In a blur of motion, Yuno sprang into action. His instincts, honed by years of hunting, identified Lucian as the greater threat. With lightning speed, he lunged towards the newcomer, silver blades flashing in the dim light of the alley.

Lucian's eyes widened in surprise, clearly not expecting such a bold move from the hunter. He barely managed to dodge the first strike, Yuno's blade whistling past his face by mere inches.

"Well, well," Lucian sneered, recovering quickly. "The little hunter has some fight in him after all."

Drusilla remained pressed against the wall, her eyes wide as she watched the deadly dance unfold before her. The narrow alley echoed with the clash of Yuno's blades against Lucian's preternatural defenses.

Yuno pressed his advantage, his movements a blur of lethal precision. Each strike of his silver swords forced Lucian further back, the older vampire's smug demeanor quickly replaced by a look of genuine concern.

The hunt had taken an unexpected turn, with Yuno now on the offensive against a powerful new foe. The outcome of this threeway standoff hung in the balance, with each participant acutely aware that a single misstep could mean death.

Lucian snarled, baring his fangs as he narrowly avoided another of Yuno's lightningfast strikes. The older vampire's eyes glowed with a mix of rage and grudging respect.

"You're not like the others, are you?" Lucian hissed, his voice strained as he parried a blow with his forearm. The sizzle of silver against vampire flesh filled the air.

Yuno didn't respond, his focus absolute as he pressed his advantage. His twin blades danced in the dim light, forcing Lucian to give ground inch by precious inch.

Drusilla watched from her position against the wall, her eyes wide with a mix of fear and fascination. She had never seen a hunter move like this before, with such speed and precision.

The narrow alley echoed with the sounds of their supernatural battle the whistle of Yuno's blades, the scrape of shoes on concrete, and the occasional grunt of pain or effort from Lucian.
