Xia Yu bit her lips. Not because of humiliation. She was afraid that the curse she was muttering would escape her lips. This woman was a devil. For once, she was glad that she was not the one taken by her father after their divorce.
Her mother was kind and sweet. She had only poured love on Xia Yu and decided to not marry again, afraid that her daughter would be bullied. But that had left them poor. They lived in her grandmother's house with her uncle and grandma. And her mother did a small job in a department store as a cashier.
But now that her grandmother is dead, her uncle had taken the house completely and her mother had gotten sick too.
No job would have offered such a high salary that could help her mother. But she didn't know it was fate or luck that her father had found her at that time and asked her to be the body double of her own sister. A sister she had never heard about for more than a decade.
"Maam, we have arrived." She opened her eyes only to see that she had returned to Han's villa. Picking up several bags, she entered the room only to see it was locked.
"Huh!?" She took out her set of keys and opened the door after entering the password too. There was a letter waiting for her on the table. It seems to be written in a hurry.
"Miss, master Han was waiting for you for two hours. He is getting late so we are leaving first. You should arrive soon or grandpa Han will be disappointed." The last word was stretched and broken. Xia Yu closed her eyes and sighed.
She ran to her room and washed her face thoroughly. She did not have good skills when it comes to make up. She curled her hair thoroughly and wore the best dress Lei Mei owned before leaving the house.
When she reached the old villa of the Han family, the parking lot was already full. Since the Han family was the second largest chaebol family, many had come to give their wishes to them.
Xia Yu held the gifts in her hands and walked hurriedly. A staff member, recognizing her, came to her for help.
"Thank you." she whispered, making the girl flush. The maid guided her toward the old master Han.
He was sitting with a group of men and smiling. When he noticed her, he stood up and waved his hands toward her.
"Grand pa!" she smiled and bowed but the old man wrapped his arms around her arms and smiled instead.
"Mei! Zhou told me that you have gone to the salon and did not return. I thought you did not care for my birthday anymore." he laughed softly making her stiffened. She had thought it was a simple dinner and was confused to see so many cars in the parking lot.
But now it occurred to her! She looked around at the heavily dressed men and women. She looked like a joke between them even when she wore the best dress she had.
"No, grandpa! I was busy choosing gifts for everyone." she retorted. At least, she was telling the truth. "And when I came to know that H.. Zhou had already left, so I came in a hurry that I did not get time to change my clothes and get ready." the man laughed hearing her reply.
The maid holding gifts came forward under the urging gaze of Xia Yu.
"I have such a filial granddaughter. What should I worry about! Good, good!" he waved his hands and the maid holding gifts left with the gifts. Xia Yu felt pain in her heart.
She had given the whole day to buy these gifts and she could not even show them off.
"Now go, Nanny Zhang will help you in getting ready. I have a dress prepared for you." the man had spoken softly, still Nanny Zhang was there to guide her to her room in the villa.
She called someone on the way and when they reached the room, three girls were already waiting there with burning eyes.
"Madam Han, you should hire staff for yourself too." Nanny Zhang complained softly as one girl held her face, another held her hands and the third one started painting her toes. In half an hour, she could not recognize herself in the mirror.
"Now you are looking better." Though her dress was not changed, she looked so different, elegant with a seductive charm on her face that she looked wide eyed.
"Now you can join young master Han for the dance." Nanny Zhang guided her to Han Zhou.
He had just finished talking to someone and was finishing his glass of wine when he noticed nanny Zhang walking with Xia Yu.
His eyes flickered when he noticed her face. Her big bright eyes looked brighter that moment. They were shining like two stars. Her face looked elegant and yet so charming that many turned their heads to look at her.
She had chosen a thin strapped dress so her collarbone could be seen. He gulped and brought his glass back to his lips only to see that it was already empty. He lowered his gaze but saw no one paid attention to him. Everyone was looking at Xia Yu.
"Han Zhou!" she whispered softly as she stood in front of him like a newly shy wife.
"Young master, your wife is more beautiful than rumors." Before Han Zhou could react, someone praised her.
"Yes, the lady looks just like a fairy." another woman added and slowly everyone started praising her. Xia Yu felt flustered. Her skin started dripping blood as she smiled and thanked all of them.
Zhou's eyes narrowed. Isn't the girl ready to bite at every sentence usually? Did she have a shy and innocent side too?
"Uhm, are you ready for the dance?"
