Years Pass…
He continued to strike his pickaxe at the magick crystals, breaking them apart into smaller pieces and shoving them into his bag. Sweat poured from every part of his body, but he didn't complain, it was the only thing keeping him cool from scorching hot air.
He had finally collected enough to eat that day, a sigh of relief spread throughout his entire body.
And as he made his way outside the cave cutting up his hands grabbing onto sharp rocks and slicing his feet and legs and reopening wounds that had just healed the day before, he didn't wince or even care, at this point it was just routine and he was already used to the pain.
He finally made his way outside the cave and the bright light enveloped everything around him and he had to close his eyes to adjust himself to the sun again.
"Ok, you mustn't lose hope today is the day you have something to eat."
He said to himself quietly.
He walked towards the village center to cash in his crystals for food, it was the only currency for slaves, work or crystals. Work got you a place to sleep, a floor and a pillow, the crystals got you food. And as he walked he couldn't help but notice a female slave being harassed by random slave owners not letting her do her work of washing clothes.
She cried and screamed, but as soon as her voice left her mouth she was punched directly in the face.
She stopped screaming but her tears ran heavier.
They ripped her clothes off of her and violently swung her legs up. Anytime she made a noise she was punched by the second guy. And as she lost hope the slave owners entered her, and began using her repeatedly. As she was being raped she couldn't bear the pain any longer and slit her throat. But the slaves owner didn't care much and continued as if she was still alive.
As Calem looked in disgust and horror all he could think of is this day is the day he eats, he has gone weeks without food and regardless of others suffering, there's nothing he could do, all he could do is survive and finally have something, anything to eat.
He finally made it to the village center and exchanged his crystals for food, it was piss poor and disgusting but a full belly felt like the greatest thing in existence, the taste of dirty old food was enough to make him cry.
He had never had a more satisfying meal, every bite made tears run down his face even faster, and eventually he couldn't even see.
He couldn't continue chewing, it felt like the best moment of his life, he rarely got to eat and more time passed the less they gave him.
But he wasn't there to just be a slave, they was also training him and other men to be knights.
Calem didn't understand why but just assumed they was going to war and wanted to just throw the useless slaves at their enemies as a shield and as entertainment.
Calem was already trained in the basics of a royal knight, of course he kept what he knew secret and trained to combined his new knowledge and the basics of his royal knights training a secret.
He didn't know where he was and honestly he gave up caring, nothing in this place mattered especially not them.
They was abused, assaulted and humiliated everyday, everyday was worse than the last, and everyone was magically chained to this area never able to leave.
As the sunset and the sun would rise Calem would see other slaves getting their fingers broken by slave masters for fun, they would brand the slaves and make a game of who would stay alive the longest, and of course the most common occurrence was rape, everyday without fail a poor soul had a slave master on top of them, overcome with pleasure from the wet and warmth of their slaves pussy, cumming inside their vagina without a care in the world.
But of course if the slave had a baby they were both killed for daring to believe they could have a family, even if they was forced to have the baby.
Life continued this way for years, and it seemed like things would never change. Until Calem reached the age of 28. He had become a shell of his former self with scars and bruises all over his entire body, and mentally broken down he had given up on everything. But he accidentally overheard one of the slave masters talking about getting rid of the older slaves now that they've grown. The slave masters always ran their mouth loudly not caring for consequences because for them there wasn't any.
He thought of what he could do to get away and avoid his death. He can't just run away, he's magically bound to this land.
Maybe he could use magic, he thought.
But no, humans can't use magic it's not inherent to them, he continued to think to himself that the only way for a human to use magick is with a magick crystal so maybe he could steal one and use that.
He couldn't just grab any magick crystal without knowing which magick he has an affinity for.
But he couldn't do that eitherway, holding a magick crystal by itself and using it is deadly and would most likely kill him. It would have to be implanted into an object to use safely.
Calem continued to ponder his choices.
There was nothing he could think of to stop the chains of magick, nothing he could do anyway.
"Fuck this" Calem decided to just run.
As he made his way to the border of the village, he tripped and fell. He sat up and looked at the chain binding his leg to the ground. He tried smashing it with a rock and doing anything to get it off. Nothing worked.
"Fuck..."
He said defeated.
The slave owners started to walk up to him laughing, mocking and belittling him.
Calem knew they were going to torture him before killing him. Calem quickly got up and ran into the slave owner closest to him slamming his body into him. They both slammed onto the ground, Calem then picked up the sword the slave owner dropped, looked out into the forest remembering his life and everything he had lost. With one look goodbye he stabbed himself in the stomach, killing himself.
