Chapter 10 - The VIP Target

As the two female security detail secured one of the doors to the opulent VIP restroom—a lavish walkway flanked by doors that reeked of wealth and power, typically reserved for the elites and VIPs—Suzanna and her entourage were momentarily secluded. Exuded an air of exclusivity and sophistication.

They noticed a cleaner approaching, her unassuming demeanor, a stark contrast to the luxury surrounding them.

Detail A walked out and approached the cleaner, blocking her path. "Hold up, Employees are not cleared for this area," she said, her voice firm but controlled.

Despite the warning, the cleaner continued advancing, pushing her cart with an air of nonchalance. She raised an eyebrow, her hand instinctively drifting toward her Glock 19 pistol before she restrained herself, maintaining her professional composure.

As she stood her ground, the cleaner sighed inwardly, "Damn, I thought they'd have made their move by now."

Without arousing suspicion, the cleaner discreetly touched her phone watch and whispered, "Coast."

Before she could reach Detail A, the restroom door swung open, and a woman in an airport security uniform strode in.

She relaxed her stance as the newcomer approached. With a calm demeanor but a hint of irritation, the female security detail said, "You're here for this cleaner, right? Then take her. We've received orders that no employees, staffs and even VIPs.... are not allowed."

The airport security politely motioned for the female security detail to follow her, intent on a discreet conversation. She raised an eyebrow, her instincts on high alert, but after exchanging a cautious glance with her partner, she received a nod of reassurance.

Satisfied, she fell into step beside the airport security, moving with calculated caution.

As Detail A and the airport security conversed in hushed tones, the cleaner swiftly gathered the materials she needs from the cart and accelerated her pace, moving with calculated precision.

Detail B posted at the door noticed this, sprinted toward the cleaner with alarm. Her hand instinctively going to her holstered Glock 19 pistol subconsciously, as she tries to stop the cleaner.

However, the cleaner possessing lethal agility, dodged her with ease as she breezed past.

Enraged, Detail B spun around to seize the cleaner forcibly, but suddenly halted, clutching her head as dizziness overwhelmed her.

Disoriented and perplexed, she stumbled backward, realizing too late that the cleaner must have struck her with a concealed weapon. A searing pain radiated from her lower back.

With a thud, Detail B imposing frame crashed to the floor, echoing through the passageway.

Detail A, on the verge of communicating with Jade via her earpiece, swiftly turned upon hearing the noise. She noticed her partner on the ground.

Her trained eyes locked onto the cleaner, now distant, attempting to knock on another door. Her expression mirrored her thoughts: surprise, bewilderment, and shock.

Before she could confront the airport security, unstrap her Glock 19 pistol, or alert Jade via her earpiece, a sudden, searing pain pierced her side. The airport security had swiftly administered a knockout agent via a needle coated with a potent, fast-acting sedative, knocking her out.

Her attempts to confront the airport security, unstrap her Glock 19 pistol from her suit, and alert Jade were all futile, as she succumbed.

The airport security steadied her, maintaining the illusion that she was still standing. The restroom's five mounted cameras captured the scene, unaware of the unfolding drama.

Her Glock 19 pistol remained holstered, unused. Her earpiece remained silent unable to alert jade her boss.

Just as the cleaner stopped mimicking, knocking on the door and approached the door guarded by the female security detail where Suzanna along with her entourage are momentarily secluded. The airport's lights flickered and died, plunging the area into darkness, the sudden absence of hum from the fluorescent lights replaced by the murmur of anxious voices, plunging everyone into chaos.

Workers, customers, and employees exchanged shocked glances. Disgruntled murmurs spread among the crowd.

"Get this fixed, now!" a suited airport executive barked.

Airport staff scrambled to restore power.

One minute passed before the backup generators roared to life, casting an eerie glow.

A calm, measured voice echoed through the airport's comms system: "Ladies and gentlemen, we apologize for the inconvenience. Backup power is online. Please resume your activities. Our team is working to rectify the main power issue shortly. Thank you for your patience."

Relieved sighs mingled with skeptical glances. Some eyed the sudden blackout with suspicion.

The cleaner, halted her approach to the door guarded by the female security detail's where Suzanna, her target, along with her entourage are momentarily secluded.

As the airport's lights flickered out and back on, she muttered, "Weird. This is getting really weird."

Seizing the opportunity earlier, the airport security had swiftly positioned herself at the door, shielding herself from the cameras. In the darkness, she had discreetly dispatched Detail A and B, relocating them to a secluded corner beyond the cameras' prying eyes.

The cleaner discreetly nodded in acknowledgment to the security, who discreetly responded with a subtle bow.

With an air of urgency, the cleaner pushed the cart toward the door, signaling, "Let's move, we're running out of time."

Jade, Debbie, and Diana were deep in discussion when the airport's lights suddenly flickered out, only to return moments later.

Jade's eyes narrowed, her grip on her Glock 19 pistol tightening as the silence from the other end sent a shiver down her spine. Initially, she moved to investigate, but a split-second decision halted her. She touched her ear comms, attempting to reach the female security detail's. Static answered.

Her concerns escalated. The remaining female security detail - securing the glass door leading to the inner section of the room where Suzanna and her manager are secluded, began to approach the door, instinctively responding to the issue. Jade swiftly gestured for her to halt, signaling her to remain vigilant beside the door, alert.

Debbie opened her mouth to speak, but Diana's swift gesture - a finger to her lips - silenced her.

The air thickened with tension.

As the cleaner stepped inside, pushing the crate forward, the unsettling quietness enveloped her, instincts flaring like a warning signal.

Noticing the unsettling quietness, her instincts flared. This wasn't the scenario she'd was expecting.
