The next morning, Uchiha Fugaku decided to skip the Guard Department and remained at home instead.
He entered his study and made his way into a secret room connected to it. This hidden chamber had been converted into a personal training area.
"Unblock."
Retrieving a sealing scroll, he undid the seal. In an instant, the bodies of the two White Zetsu he had acquired appeared on the floor of the secret room.
"Corpse Melting—"
Activating his Mangekyō Sharingan, the pattern in his left eye spun rapidly, generating a dark vortex.
Grabbing one of the White Zetsu corpses, Fugaku quickly threw it into the black vortex. Shortly afterward, the second corpse followed. The vortex vanished, transporting the bodies into a mysterious space filled with black liquid.
In this liquid, the bodies of the two White Zetsu began to dissolve rapidly, breaking down into their basic components.
Biological material, distinct yet resembling cells with a unique bloodline signature, was extracted from the dissolving corpses. The extracted material flowed out of Fugaku's left eye and dispersed through his body, spreading into his bloodstream and cellular structure.
A familiar sensation began to surface.
His body burned as if set ablaze, sweat pouring from him in waves. His clothes became drenched as the cells in his body underwent rapid and intricate transformations. Their structure and function began evolving under the influence of the new biological material.
Moments later, the corpses of the two White Zetsu had completely dissolved, and the extraction process was complete. The burning sensation subsided, leaving Fugaku slightly drained yet energized.
He flexed his fingers experimentally and noticed a subtle but definite difference in his body.
After smelting the first White Zetsu, his cells had grown more active, enhancing his regenerative capabilities. Now, those abilities had been further strengthened. His entire body felt suffused with a potent vitality.
A grin formed on his face as thoughts swirled in his mind. He couldn't help but wonder if Mikoto was awake for a different kind of "morning exercise."
But his excitement was driven by a more pressing matter.
"The Wood Release Kekkei Genkai must have improved. Can I finally perform Wood Release without relying on real illusions?"
The prospect thrilled him. If he could use Wood Release directly, impersonating Uchiha Obito in the future would be far easier. No longer would he need to cast real illusions each time.
"Wood Release: Grafting Technique!"
Fugaku formed hand seals and activated the Wood Release technique he had previously used in real illusions. He focused his chakra into his palm.
A green branch began to grow from his hand, extending to over a meter in length. He watched closely, scrutinizing the branch for any signs of decay.
The last time he tried this after smelting his first White Zetsu, the branch withered and crumbled soon after forming, resulting in a failed technique.
But this time, the branch remained intact.
"It didn't wither!"
A smile crept across Fugaku's face as he reached out to knock on the branch. It was hard and sturdy, resembling the toughness of metal. With its sharp tip, it could undoubtedly pierce flesh with ease.
After a few minutes of observation, the branch showed no signs of degrading. Only when Fugaku released the technique did the branch wither, shatter, and disappear.
"Success!"
His eyes gleamed with satisfaction. The improvement to his Wood Release Kekkei Genkai meant he could now use the Grafting Technique without needing to rely on real illusions. But what thrilled him even more was the realization that smelting multiple corpses with the same Kekkei Genkai could enhance its strength.
"If I can get enough White Zetsu corpses, I'll be able to continuously strengthen my Wood Release. Perhaps, one day, I can even rival the power of Hashirama Senju's Wood Release!"
Suppressing his excitement, Fugaku resumed his experiments.
"I wonder if I can use other Wood Release techniques now."
Over the next hour, Fugaku tried various Wood Release ninjutsu he had committed to memory. After multiple attempts, he made an important discovery: he could now perform several basic Wood Release techniques, including Wood Release: Wood Substitution, Wood Release: Wood Transformation, Wood Release: Wood Clone, Wood Release: Silent Killing Binding, and of course, Wood Release: Grafting.
However, these were all lower-level techniques, far less powerful than the advanced Wood Release ninjutsu performed by Yamato or Hashirama Senju.
The limitations highlighted the relatively weak state of his Wood Release Kekkei Genkai. White Zetsu's Wood Release abilities were limited, as most clones couldn't even perform basic techniques.
"Still, it's a step forward," Fugaku thought, his mind already considering the next steps. "If I can acquire more White Zetsu corpses, the strength of my Wood Release can continue to grow. One day, it will surpass even Yamato's and reach the level of Hashirama."
With his Wood Release now usable outside illusions, Fugaku turned his attention to the other techniques he had learned from the captured White Zetsu.
"Let's test those two unique abilities as well."
The first was the Art of Disguise, a transformation technique unique to White Zetsu.
Fugaku formed the seals and activated the technique. His body began to shift and morph. His skin turned deathly white, his eyes became an unnatural yellow, and his hair changed to gray-green. His physique shrank slightly as he took on the form of a perfect White Zetsu.
Fugaku retrieved a mirror from the secret room and inspected his transformation. The reflection staring back at him was indistinguishable from a real White Zetsu.
"Impressive… but infiltration would still be difficult," he mused.
Despite the technique's perfection, White Zetsu clones shared a unique connection that allowed them to recognize each other. Without access to this connection, any attempt at infiltration would quickly fail.
Finally, Fugaku tried the Spore Technique.
After forming the appropriate seals, a tiny, nearly invisible spore appeared on his palm. Infusing it with chakra, the spore began to grow, eventually transforming into an exact duplicate of Fugaku himself.
The clone's appearance, chakra signature, and even demeanor were indistinguishable from the original.
"Not bad," Fugaku remarked, impressed by the clone's precision.
As he observed his new abilities, Fugaku felt a surge of confidence. His experiments had yielded tangible progress, and the potential for further growth loomed large.
