"Uchiha Fugaku, you… you're Uchiha Fugaku!"
As realization dawned on Shimura Daisuke, his expression shifted rapidly—stunned, shocked, horrified, then enlightened, and finally, utterly hopeless.
The "Wood Style Kekkei Genkai ninja" that had troubled Konoha so deeply turned out to be none other than Uchiha Fugaku. Daisuke could barely process his own disbelief and fear. Now he understood why Fugaku had targeted him: the enmity between the Shimura family and the Uchiha clan ran deep. He knew he had no hope left; Fugaku wouldn't spare him.
"Well, now you know the truth," Fugaku said, an unsettling smile on his face as he approached. "Knowing who I am, you should have no regrets as you die."
"Curse you, Uchiha Fugaku!" Daisuke spat, his voice thick with venom. "You won't stay hidden forever. Sooner or later, your identity will be exposed. When that day comes, there will be no place for you or the Uchiha clan in all of Konoha!"
"That day will never come," Fugaku replied with calm conviction. "Not only will we remain, but one day, my Uchiha clan will rule Konoha. It was our clan and the Senju who built this village together. It's time the Uchiha took their rightful place in control!"
The identity of the Wood Release ninja was widely feared, but in truth, Fugaku had only borrowed it. If his identity as this Wood Style user was ever exposed, he could always point the blame to the true traitor, Uchiha Obito, not himself.
Desperate, Daisuke tried one last attack. "Wind Style: Vacuum Great Sphere!" he shouted, forming seals with a look of hopeless determination before exhaling a massive high-pressure wind ball aimed directly at Fugaku.
Fugaku's eyes flashed with mocking amusement. "Sixth Gate of the Eight Gates of Ninjutsu: Gate of Joy, open!" Green energy flared around him, and his speed spiked dramatically. He dodged the wind attack with a swift motion, instantly appearing beside Daisuke.
"Pfft—"
A sharp branch, grown from Fugaku's hand, pierced through Daisuke's body, fatally damaging his organs and brain, ensuring his memories couldn't be extracted. Shimura Daisuke's body fell lifelessly to the ground.
Fugaku left the corpse intact for now; it would be destroyed once it was brought back to Konoha. After all, the evidence of the Wood Release ninja's "attack" on Daisuke was essential to maintain his cover.
"Finally appeared!"
A voice muttered from above. Perched in a nearby tree was White Zetsu, who had been secretly tracking Shimura Daisuke and his party. He stared in shock and excitement at the man dressed as Uchiha Obito. If he hadn't known Obito was currently in the Hidden Mist Village, he might have believed this to be the real Obito himself.
"What an impressive way to mask your presence," White Zetsu murmured. "I didn't even sense you until you showed yourself. I'm curious to see your true identity."
White Zetsu's feet were entangled with the tree roots, and he quickly relayed the news back to his base: "We've found the imposter posing as Uchiha Obito."
Suddenly, a shift in Fugaku's eyes caught White Zetsu's attention. "Mangekyō Sharingan!" he whispered in shock. The imposter's right eye glowed blood red, with a distinct black pattern.
This was no ordinary Sharingan. White Zetsu's shock grew as he realized this Mangekyō Sharingan was different from Obito's or Shisui's. This revelation meant there was yet another Uchiha wielding the Mangekyō.
"Another Mangekyō Sharingan…" White Zetsu thought, feeling both fear and awe. He had believed this imposter to be a minor nuisance for Obito, but now it was clear he was facing someone far more dangerous.
One by one, the corpses around Fugaku displayed horrific injuries—some charred, others pierced by sharp branches, blood pooling around them. The disturbing sight added to the eerie silence. For White Zetsu, this was baffling; he hadn't even seen the imposter move.
"This must be some kind of eye technique," White Zetsu concluded, though he couldn't tell exactly what kind. Uchiha Obito's Kamui was strange enough, but this new dojutsu seemed even more terrifying in its lethality.
"This person must carry Uchiha blood," White Zetsu speculated. "But is he from the Uchiha clan in Konoha, or perhaps a survivor from outside?"
The fact that the imposter wielded the Mangekyō Sharingan so skillfully suggested it was not transplanted but naturally his. He must indeed be an Uchiha, but whether he was part of Konoha's Uchiha clan or an outsider was uncertain. After all, many clan members had disappeared during the wars, and some might have resurfaced.
What White Zetsu couldn't know was that Fugaku and Daisuke's entire exchange had occurred within a real illusion, making it impossible for him to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"The Third Gate of Life, open!"
With sudden intensity, Fugaku activated the Third Gate. He left behind a trail of green afterimages as he darted forward, targeting the tree where White Zetsu was hiding.
White Zetsu's expression changed to one of horror. "He found me?!"
He had been careful to mask his presence, suppressing his chakra to avoid detection. But the imposter's ability to locate him showed a level of perception that startled even him.
With no other option, White Zetsu quickly melded into the ground, diving along the tree's roots to escape. He hadn't anticipated that this mysterious ninja, posing as Uchiha Obito, would be able to sense him with such accuracy.
For the first time in a long while, White Zetsu felt a genuine sense of dread.
